Itinerary

Depart from your hotel at 2:00 PM for a panoramic tour of Dublin with a local guide, seeing its grand Georgian buildings and squares, the River Liffey, and historic O'Connell Street. Visit EPIC The Irish Emigration Museum, an award-winning, high-tech museum that chronicles the journeys made by Irish emigrants around the globe and details the stories of the new lives made by the Irish abroad. Back at your hotel, enjoy a welcome drink with your group, and then you'll be free to discover the city and dine at your leisure.

Set off for Glendalough, a valley in the beautiful Wicklow Mountains. Tour the picturesque ruins of the ancient monastery there; it thrived for centuries after being established by St Kevin in the sixth century. See stone churches, large carved Celtic crosses, and an iconic round tower. Next, visit luxurious Johnstown Castle in Wexford for a tour of the Gothic Revival castle and its splendid gardens, designed by one of the 19th century's leading architects. Dine with your group at your hotel. (B/D)

Today, you'll visit the House of Waterford Crystal, a CIE Tours preferred shopping partner. Watch superb artisans create sparkling masterpieces on a factory tour. Next, visit the Midleton Distillery Experience for a fascinating exploration of the whiskey-making process. Arrive in Tralee, where you'll dine at your hotel. (B/D)

Take a jaunting car ride through Killarney National Park to Ross Castle for views of Lough Leane and the MacGillycuddy's Reeks. See the highlights of the Ring of Kerry, Ireland's famed scenic drive. Visit CIE Tours' preferred shopping partner, Moriarty's, in the beautiful Gap of Dunloe before lunch in the charming town of Kenmare. Then enjoy free time in Killarney before returning to Tralee. (B/L)

Travel north to the Cliffs of Moher, crossing the Shannon Estuary by ferry on your way. Visit the cliffs, taking in the glorious views from 700 feet above the churning Atlantic. Arrive in the vibrant city of Galway, where you'll have dinner with your group. (B/D)

Immerse yourself in rural life with a visit to Glengowla to watch highly trained sheepdogs display their skills. Then take a scenic drive through the breathtaking beauty of Connemara, with its mountains, lakes, and boglands. Visit Kylemore Abbey, a glorious Victorian castle built on a serene lakeside as a romantic gift. Return to Galway, where you'll dine independently and rejoin your group for Trad on the Prom, a thrilling, contemporary show of traditional Irish music, song, and dance (seasonal, on select departures). (B)

Depart Galway and travel to the heart of the Curragh Plains to visit Newbridge Silverware, makers of fine cutlery and dazzling jewelry for nearly a century. Tour the factory to see talented craftspeople combining ancient crafts and modern styles.

Continue on to the pretty seaside Dublin suburb of Howth for a lively evening of traditional Irish music, song, and dance with dinner at the Abbey Tavern. (B/D)

Your tour ends after breakfast. (B)

An affordable way to see Ireland 1 , Australia, Nov 2018
After a rough start due to weather delays, we had an awesome time. We saw much more than had we toured on our own. There really was nothing we didn't like. Of course, there was one stop we wish we had more time at, but it was still great. Noel Hart, our guide, really made the trip great. Prompt, friendly, funny, and knowledgeable are just a few adjectives read more to describe him. We would recommend this to anyone looking for an affordable way to see Ireland.
Impressive tour of Ireland 1 , Australia, Jun 2018
My husband and I were on the ôSpirit of Irelandö tour that began June 8, and we were very impressed with and thankful for the entire experience. The CIE representative who met us at the airport, the driver who took us to our first hotel, and our tour director, David, were extremely kind and helpful. We appreciated DavidÆs interesting, thoughtful and read more often humorous commentaries about Ireland and the many sites we saw. Along with his excellent driving skills and his considerate attention to the safety and comfort of all the guests on the tour, David was very knowledgeable about IrelandÆs history, folklore and contemporary news, and we learned a great deal. David was an excellent resource throughout the trip, suggesting places to eat, recommending shows to see, and even offering to coordinate transportation to events outside of the tour. We enjoyed the entire tour very much, and we feel that we had such a positive experience in large part because Dave served as our tour director.

Our guide, Dominic was fantastic. Knows an amazing amount of information about Ireland. Should be commended at the highest level. Did a terrific job. I am hoping to return to read more Ireland as soon as possible. Thanks for a great tour.
