Ni hao! Welcome to China and the bustling capital city of Beijing, which is a fascinating combination of rich history and new innovation.
Special Experience: Stroll through Beijing's hutongs (narrow streets and alleys) to explore a different side of the city. We'll then visit a local home to try some homemade dumplings. We'll then visit Tiananmen Square and explore the Forbidden City, which was the former Chinese Imperial Palace from the Ming dynasty to the Qing dynasty.
Tonight we enjoy an authentic Peking Duck banquet for our group welcome dinner. (B/L/D)
A must-do for every visitor to China, today we'll walk a small section of the Great Wall. Built more than 2,000 years ago, and spanning some 6,700 kilometres, the Great Wall is perhaps China's most iconic attraction. We also visit Sacred Road; lined with huge stone statues, it was originally built to lead the way to the Changling Mausoleum. (B/L)
This morning we'll discover the beautiful Temple of Heaven, where emperors performed rituals to ensure a good harvest in ancient times. Here we'll enjoy a tai chi lesson with a local master. Summer Palace is our next destination, where we'll take a dragonboat cruise on Kunming Lake. (B/L)
We travel to Xi'an by high-speed train. After our arrival this afternoon, we'll visit the well-preserved city walls and the Bell Tower. (B)
We see the world-famous Terracotta Warriors and Horses this morning.
Later we'll explore the Muslim Market, passing through its narrow bazaar street filled with local delicacies, snacks and souvenirs. We'll also enjoy a Shadow Puppet show in Xi'an's Muslim Quarter - the famous Silk Road's starting point over 1,000 years ago. (B/L)
Today we take the high-speed train to Chengdu, home of the giant pandas. (B/L) Special Experience: Enjoy an afternoon cup of traditional Chinese tea and a game of Mahjong in the stunning Wangjiang Park.
Special Experience: Get up close with the endangered giant pandas at the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding. We'll then take a visit to Wenshu Temple - Chengdu's oldest and largest Buddhist temple, before soaking up the charming atmosphere of Jinli Old Street. Later, we'll fly to beautiful Guilin. (B/L)
A relaxing day cruising the Li River to Yangshuo. Enjoy the stunning views of the dramatic karst mountain landscape and watch colourful village life pass us by. The rest of the afternoon is at leisure for you to take in this beautiful setting at your own pace. Why not take a stroll down the famous West Street for dinner? (B/L)
We'll take a cooking class this morning and learn some traditional techniques and recipes. (B/L)
This morning we'll transfer back to Guilin, where we will take the high-speed train to Chongqing. Embark Cruise: Later today we'll board our three-night cruise along the Yangtze River, Asia's longest river. (B/D)

Disembark Cruise: Early this afternoon, we'll disembark in Yichang. (B/L)
This morning we fly to Shanghai, China's largest city and a global financial hub, We'll begin exploring this afternoon, visiting the Yu Garden and the lively Yuyuan Market. (B/L)
We'll spend half the day touring this magnificent city. Highlights include a visit to Shanghai Museum, a stroll along the Bund and the famous Nanjing Road.
Tonight, we'll enjoy an incredible acrobatics show at the Shanghai Centre Theatre. (B/L)
Special Experience: We explore Zhujiajiao, an ancient water town dating back some 700 years. Complete with traditional old bridges and small rivers, it's set against a stunning backdrop of lakes and mountains. We'll visit Xintiandi Plaza before enjoying a group farewell dinner this evening. (B/L/D)
Today we'll transfer to the airport by maglev train and begin our journey home.
