Wonderful tour of Japan   2 , QLD, Australia, Mar 2023
Tour was fantastic, everything I could have wanted for a first trip to Japan! An awful lot is packed into the 2 weeks of this tour, and some great experiences included. Be prepared for a lot of walking as you explore all of the sights. I think I averaged about 15,000 steps per day. Hotels were excellent quality as were all of the included meals. Transport ...read more was also great - predominantly by bus but also used Shinkansen, local trains and subway at various times which was good to experience. All the attractions tours & experiences were included so no surprise out-of-pocket expenses - in fact we spent very little outside of the tour cost, just meals which can be cheap or expensive depending on what you want to do - so much choice in Japan!

I need to go back just to try all the food I didn’t get to try. Having a small group makes all the difference, with only 20 people you can fit a lot more in and it’s easier to keep track of the group and also get to know them. Our tour guide Asano was fantastic. I would definitely choose Bunnik again for the small group, quality accommodation & transport, great itinerary and included experiences. The only thing I didn’t really like was that the included flights were via Singapore - a direct flight would have been much better. But if you are going to do that I recommend stopping over in Singapore for a couple of days on the way back to break up the trip.
Tasmanian Wilderness, Culture, History & Food     0 , NSW, Australia, Mar 2023
Clean, wild and wonderful. Bunnik Tours have covered the trip to Tasmania as a truly memorable visit. The days are filled with activities and visits to some of Tasmania's iconic and beautiful places. The accommodation is excellent, food choices are exceptional. Our tour guides were professional, friendly and attentive all their travellers' needs and ...read more wants on this trip. Tasmania in Depth by Bunnik   0 , QLD, Australia, Mar 2023
A first-time trip with Bunnik. Tracey, of Global Journeys, arranged our booking and ably sent us on our way. This was a most enjoyable small group 14-day tour with a full-size coach allowing a window seat for everyone. Chosen because it included a great variety of experiences from national parks, history, many fascinating small towns with great character ...read more preserved and with only 1 single night stay. It was a very comprehensive tour, covering about 2,500 kms right around Tassie. As the tour began at midday, we did have to travel down a day early and chose to stay an extra day to include Bruny Island.
Wonderful tour of Japan   0 , QLD, Australia, Oct 2022
Thank you to Jemma of Global Journeys in assisting in the organisation of our Japan Discovery tour with Bunnik.
It was a well planned itinerary with a nice balance between private coach and public trains, including the bullet train. The tour gave us a broad insight into the culture and history of Japan with a variety of experiences.
Our guide Kanai ...read more was lovely, being professional, well prepared and knowledgeable about all things Japan.
Wonderful Tour to Jordan and Egypt     0 , VIC, Australia, Oct 2022
The tour was well organized and efficiently run. The hotels were good to very good except the one at the Dana Biosphere which was not a finished hotel and many issues involved. Food was generally ok, except that many meals did not cater for a Vegan diet. I’ve not travelled with Bunnik before and for the price we payed I would’ve expected more. In any ...read more case, the trip was on my bucket list and I was happy to see all that I set out to see. Guide in Jordan was very good, guide in Egypt was good.
Fantastic Portuguese adventure     1 , NSW, Australia, Oct 2022
We thoroughly enjoyed our tour of Portugal ! Our group was incredible to travel with and our guide Maria was fantastic!
Fabulous Discover South Australia Tour with Bunnik.   1 , NSW, Australia, Sep 2022
We were most pleased to have Marion as our tour leader. She is a lovely lady. The coach drivers on the mainland and on Kangaroo Island were very cheerful and helpful and had many interesting and informative things to tell us about the places we visited. Our tour was fortunate to have good weather 95% of the time. Beautiful and interesting wine-producing ...read more areas, insight into barrel making, and lots of wine tasting at famous wineries.

Fabulous scenery on Kangaroo Island and the Flinders Ranges and fortunate to see Rock Wallabies frolicking in a canyon in Wilpen Pound. The accommodation was of a high standard and all provided meals were good to excellent except on Kangaroo Island where the first breakfast was delayed for over half an hour for several of our group and the packed lunch of very poor standard. Also, I would have preferred lodgings on Kangaroo Island to be at a place where we could purchase a meal from a fast food place rather than being forced to pay the high prices at our hotel.
Very good tour   0 , QLD, Australia, Sep 2022
I throughly enjoyed this holiday. Having only 20 people made it possible to know everyone. The group I went with were wonderful. We had no disagreements and got on very well. There was a slight disappointment with the flight back where we stopped in Cyprus on our way from Malta to Dubai and had to stay on the plane for the hour stopover. Not ideal. ...read more The local guides were all very nice and knowledgeable. I particularly enjoyed visiting Pompei. Mt Etna which is puffing away, two Greek ruins and two prehistoric temples on Malta. The hotels were all good and the ferry’s very comfortable. The tour is highly recommended.

Bunnik Small Group Touring
Bunnik Small Group Touring

When Marion Bunnik started Bunnik Tours, Australia didn't need another tour company - it needed a better way of touring! In an industry dominated by large multinationals and mass tourism, Bunnik Tours stands alone. Our aim is simple, to provide a better way for Australians to see the world. As a family business we understand that our family's name and reputation is at stake every time we sell a holiday. That's why we're proud to call these tours our own.

Bunnik's maximum group size is just 20, and even less for some tours in Asia & Africa. For us small groups make for a better holiday experience. They are more personal and you spend less time waiting and more time enjoying your holiday. Small groups are better for sustainability too! We get to visit smaller local businesses on our travels and stay in smaller centrally-located properties which are often impractical for large groups.

Return International Flights Included!
Return International Flights Included!

Unlike most tour companies, Bunnik include domestic and international flights from Australia in all of their small group tour packages. Plus their airfares have built-in flexibility so you're able to extend your stay, fly in or out of other cities or upgrade your flights to business or first class.

Anything is possible just ask your Global Journeys friendly team of travel advisors when enquiring.

Unique Local Experiences

Small group touring is about being shown around by locals and really capturing the essence of the destination. It means seeing the famous attractions but also wandering off the tourist trail. So much more than just a coach tour, you'll experience the culture, meet the locals and savour the wonderful food.

That's why we also include a range of experiences designed to capture the essence of the places we visit. Experiences like enjoying lunch with a local family in a small rural village in Sri Lanka, making Pizza in Sorrento, Italy, travelling by traditional style boats or exploring the deserts of India, Jordan and Morocco by camel!

Bunnik Tour FAQ's Frequently asked questions for those considering travelling with Bunnik Tours

What are the average ages of people travelling on a Bunnik Tour?

Bunnik group tours have been specifically designed for 'the not too young and not too old'. There are lots of tour companies out there catering for the younger party crowd or the older traveller so we like to think of our tours as being for the forgotten age group in between, that's people aged 45-65. However, we have many people enjoying our tours who are younger than 45 and older than 65. So you'll find we never discriminate on the basis of age. Please note though passengers over 70 will be required to obtain a doctors clearance before travelling.

Can I bring my children on tour with me?

Children aged 14 and over can travel on our group tours.

You say all your tours operate in small groups, what are the group sizes?

Group size is important when travelling. Small groups mean less time waiting and more time enjoying your holiday. For our 2017 season we've limited group sizes to a maximum of 20 across all our small group tours. Some regions like Africa offer even smaller groups of 12.

What standard of hotels do you use on your tours?

On our tours we use good quality 3-4 star hotels. However, rather than concentrate solely on star ratings and creature comforts we choose our hotels based on the following criteria: cleanliness, great service, atmosphere and location.

What type of transport does Bunnik use?

Expect plenty of variety as you explore the world with Bunnik Tours. You'll travel on elephants in India and Thailand and on traditional boats in the Amazon, Egypt and Turkey. While in other parts of the world, we use the most amazing collection of jeeps, old Chevys, cyclos and rickshaws. At last count we offered more than 10 completely different train experiences, including Japan's exhilarating bullet train. Yes, our mini-busses and coaches are clean and air-conditioned, but we think you'll enjoy everything else so much more.

I am a single traveller, am I still able to travel on one of your group tours?

Single travellers are welcome on all Bunniks tours and make up a fair number of passengers. You can choose to have a single room and pay a single supplement or you can ask us to match you up with another traveller of the same gender and pay just the twin-share rate.

On some of your tours you have a tipping made easy program how does this work?

In many parts of the world tipping is a customary practice and often makes up a large part of people's wages so it's important to get it right. Our tipping made easy program is a simple system that sees us collect tips at time of booking. We then pay these tips to our local staff and they take care of all the tips. Easy! Please note on tours where 'tipping made easy' operates it is compulsory that all tour members participate.

The tour I am interested in doesn't have tipping made easy, it says tips are payable locally what does this mean?

On tours where tipping made easy doesn't apply we advise you how much you should allow for tips, which should be paid in the local currency. If you are unsure how much or who to tip we suggest you refer to your documentation as a suggested tipping list is included.

Are Bunnik tours escorted from Australia?

Bunnik tours are not escorted from Australia. You will be met on arrival at your destination by local guides and your tour will begin from there.

Airfares are included in the tour costs, but what airlines do Bunnik use?

Bunnik use a number of different airlines depending on your destination these include; Singapore Airlines, Emirates, Virgin Airlines and Lan Chile.

Do I have to be physically fit in order to travel on a Bunnik Tour?

Bunnik tours do require a certain level of fitness and mobility. You should be able to carry your own bags as porter services are not always available at all hotels, and you should be able to walk over 2km on uneven ground and climb several flights of stairs. Passengers who are 70 and over will be required to obtain a doctor's clearance before travelling.

Flights are included in my trip, can I upgrade them to business class or premium economy?

Yes of course. You can even choose a different airline to the default one Bunnik uses. However, please keep in mind that you will need to pay the difference in the fare you choose compared to the airfare included.

Why should I take advantage of your special airfares when so many specials are on the market?

Two reasons – our fares are special wholesale fares which are usually as competitive if not less expensive than the specials you see advertised. Secondly, if you book a tour with us and we organise the airfare, you are protected in case we need to cancel the tour for any reason (if you book a special airfare yourself and we cancel the tour, you will be charged change/cancellation fees by the airlines).

Is it possible to go on a tour if I have already organised my own flights?

Certainly, for every tour in Bunniks program they also have a land only price which excludes the airfares. Please enquire on the tour you prefer, filling in your flight requirements in the comments section, for more information.

Can I depart earlier than an advertised departure date and return home later than the tour end date?

Yes, included flights are fully flexible with the departure and return dates. You can depart from Australia earlier than the rest of the tour group and return home later after the end of the tour. Bunnik Tours is a fully licensed travel agency and apart from booking Bunnik Tours for clients we can arrange any other holiday requests for you before and after your tour. This includes; flights, accommodation, car hire, rail passes and cruises.

Bunnik Tours begin at the destination airport of your tour. Tours are not escorted from Australia, however flights to & from Australia are included in the listed prices. You will be met on arrival at your destination by local guides and your tour will begin from there.

Terms & Conditions All the boring small print. We recommend you read them, as no one likes surprises!
