Georgie Walpole was an efficient and courteous agent to work with. Overall, we enjoyed the trip to northern Japan. Nature and Japan did not disappoint. The tour itinerary was not always to our liking - too many shrine and brewery visits, when other more interesting sites were possible to see. Insufficient time in Tokyo and Sapporo. South Australia trip with Bunnik     0 , NSW, Australia, Sep 2023
It was a lovely trip. Accommodation was beautiful, I felt like I was a queen. The food was wonderful. I have only criticism about the first and last meals together were not good. The coach driver talked non stop telling stuff about his girl etc that wasn’t interesting. The coach broke down a few ones and had to be replaced. The guides Kate and Michelle ...read more did a wonderful job and were quick at handling any issues. The best place was the seals and kolas on kangaroo island. I would recommend this tour to others. I made new friends and had a lovely time.
Turkey     0 , Australia, Sep 2023
Loved the trip, loved the country. Good mix of fellow travellers- now all friends - and very knowledgeable guide. We’d love to return to the Mediterranean and Aegean areas to spend more time - we’d have liked more free time (maybe even extra days free) in these areas in particular as the schedule was full on. The cave hotel was interesting to see - ...read more our room was fine (apart from the overflowing shower) but others had rooms that would be ok for 1 night maybe, definitely not for 4. OHS lacking. Food at cave hotel was awful & staff unhelpful unlike other places we stayed, although some hotel buffets were not great. Ballooning in Cappadocia amazing.
Stress free Sri Lanka.   0 , NSW, Australia, Sep 2023
We thoroughly enjoyed our recent Bunnik tour of Sri Lanka. Everything from the pick up at the air port to the drop off 17 days later ran very smoothly. The accommodation was great as was the choice of meals. There were only 6 on this tour and we all got on very well. Our tour guide and all other hosts we had were friendly, knowledgeable and passionate ...read more about what they did and their country. Services we received were exceptional. We had some great experiences and there were many lovely touches, such as our welcome cocktails in the mangroves, followed by a BBQ accompanied by a couple playing instruments and singing. The cold face cloths provided on the humid days after experiences were very welcome. Thanks to Global for their organisation. We would recommend both Global and Bunnik to those planning a holiday.
Cultural Overload of Turkiye & Greece   1 , SA, Australia, Aug 2023
We both thoroughly enjoyed touring Turkiye and Greece, having not been to both since travelling from London to Kathmandu in the early seventies. We travelled with a group mostly in their 60's and 70's apart from a 28 year old travelling with her mother. She mixed really well with the oldies. The camaraderie amongst the group of 20 made it very pleasant ...read more travelling and fun. Accommodation consisted of mainly 4 and 5 star hotels all of which were of a high standard. European bathrooms are not always easy to manage with slippery, narrow baths and showers which flood the floors. Luckily there were no accidents!

Both tour guides were extremely knowledgeable, the Turkiye guide proudly telling us about his country. Both had detailed descriptions of the ancient ruins, at times most of us felt we were overloaded with information and not able to digest everything.
A 3 day cruise to Patmos, Rhodes, Crete and Santorini were included but excursions to the islands had to be paid for. The costs were a ripoff , particularly Santorini where buses had to wait for others to clear and crushing crowds made the visit less enjoyable.
Highlights of the 23 days were ballooning at Cappadocia, tasty meals, some of the ancient ruins, Meteora and the monasteries in the north of Greece and the Plaka in Athens. I would certainly recommend this trip but to be aware of the long days with limited freetime and the emphasis being on ancient ruins.

Booking with Global Journeys makes our travels worry free. Hannah is supportive and professional at all times. We thoroughly enjoyed the tour with Bunnik. Very Enjoyable   0 , NSW, Australia, May 2023
Thoroughly enjoyed this tour for various reasons. The 20 people on the tour were a harmonious mixed group of singles and couples but mainly all with wide travel experience. It was a pleasure to travel with them. Our guide in Italy/Sicily was Flavio. He was very patient and went out of his way to ensure that things went well and to attend to any ...read more problems that occurred along the way.

Our bus driver was Gabrielo who deserves a medal for the way he negotiated our bus in some very interesting and tight places. Only comment on the bus is that we did not have WiFi. We had different local guides in some of the places we visited and they contributed to the enjoyment of the day. Our guide in Malta was Cynthia. She was very very efficient and knowledgeable and contributed to our greater understanding of Malta.

There were several minor hiccups along the way but they were overcome and in their own way contributed to the travel experience. The hotel in Rome is listed as a four star. I think this is a bit of an exaggeration and it is a three star at best. The remainder of the accommodation was OK for me as my needs are simple but some of the other people had problems with their rooms. These problems were corrected either by the person themselves or our guide. I thought that the trip to the Vatican Museum and Sistine Chapel was not worth the effort. Both places were grossly overcrowded and you were unable to really stop and absorb anything. I got the impression that it was just a huge money making enterprise designed to push through as many people as possible in the shortest amount of time possible.

The other cities and towns we visited were good and, as mentioned before, we had local guides in many of them. Our last day in Sicily was good but a lot of time was wasted as our ferry to Malta did not leave until 9.30pm. As such we arrived at our hotel in Malta at midnight and then after check in and baggage it was much later before getting to bed. I would suggest that the last day in Sicily be compressed and that the transfer to Malta be on an earlier ferry. Overall, I had a great time and I am pleased that I went on this tour.
Southern Italy with Bunnik   0 , NSW, Australia, May 2023
This was a very busy tour filled with lots of activities. I really enjoyed the UNESCO Roman and Megalithic sights included. Our tour's pizza making was a highlight. Although I traveled in May Italy was very busy and unfortunately we had a lot of rain. Our tour director could have been more helpful with interesting facts on the bus. Other than that it ...read more was a great tour with a lot of wonderful UNESCO sights.

Bunnik Small Group Touring
Bunnik Small Group Touring

When Marion Bunnik started Bunnik Tours, Australia didn't need another tour company - it needed a better way of touring! In an industry dominated by large multinationals and mass tourism, Bunnik Tours stands alone. Our aim is simple, to provide a better way for Australians to see the world. As a family business we understand that our family's name and reputation is at stake every time we sell a holiday. That's why we're proud to call these tours our own.

Bunnik's maximum group size is just 20, and even less for some tours in Asia & Africa. For us small groups make for a better holiday experience. They are more personal and you spend less time waiting and more time enjoying your holiday. Small groups are better for sustainability too! We get to visit smaller local businesses on our travels and stay in smaller centrally-located properties which are often impractical for large groups.

Return International Flights Included!
Return International Flights Included!

For Bunnik, it's all about providing you with flexibility to create your dream holiday which is why they provide both small group tours that include international airfares from Australia as well as land only small group tours. Their airfares have built-in flexibility so you're able to extend your stay, fly in or out of other cities or upgrade your flights to business or first class.

For tours where return international airfares have not been included, chat to our friendly Global Journeys Travel Advisors for the best advice. We have access to some fantastic fares.

Small group touring is about being shown around by locals and really capturing the essence of the destination. It means seeing the famous attractions but also wandering off the tourist trail. That's why we also include a range of experiences designed to capture the essence of the places we visit. Bunnik Tour FAQ's Frequently asked questions for those considering travelling with Bunnik Tours

What are the average ages of people travelling on a Bunnik Tour?

Bunnik group tours have been specifically designed for 'the not too young and not too old'. There are lots of tour companies out there catering for the younger party crowd or the older traveller so we like to think of our tours as being for the forgotten age group in between, that's people aged 45-65. However, we have many people enjoying our tours who are younger than 45 and older than 65. So you'll find we never discriminate on the basis of age. Please note though passengers over 70 will be required to obtain a doctors clearance before travelling.

Can I bring my children on tour with me?

Children aged 14 and over can travel on our group tours.

You say all your tours operate in small groups, what are the group sizes?

Group size is important when travelling. Small groups mean less time waiting and more time enjoying your holiday. For our 2017 season we've limited group sizes to a maximum of 20 across all our small group tours. Some regions like Africa offer even smaller groups of 12.

What standard of hotels do you use on your tours?

On our tours we use good quality 3-4 star hotels. However, rather than concentrate solely on star ratings and creature comforts we choose our hotels based on the following criteria: cleanliness, great service, atmosphere and location.

What type of transport does Bunnik use?

Expect plenty of variety as you explore the world with Bunnik Tours. You'll travel on elephants in India and Thailand and on traditional boats in the Amazon, Egypt and Turkey. While in other parts of the world, we use the most amazing collection of jeeps, old Chevys, cyclos and rickshaws. At last count we offered more than 10 completely different train experiences, including Japan's exhilarating bullet train. Yes, our mini-busses and coaches are clean and air-conditioned, but we think you'll enjoy everything else so much more.

I am a single traveller, am I still able to travel on one of your group tours?

Single travellers are welcome on all Bunniks tours and make up a fair number of passengers. You can choose to have a single room and pay a single supplement or you can ask us to match you up with another traveller of the same gender and pay just the twin-share rate.

On some of your tours you have a tipping made easy program how does this work?

In many parts of the world tipping is a customary practice and often makes up a large part of people's wages so it's important to get it right. Our tipping made easy program is a simple system that sees us collect tips at time of booking. We then pay these tips to our local staff and they take care of all the tips. Easy! Please note on tours where 'tipping made easy' operates it is compulsory that all tour members participate.

The tour I am interested in doesn't have tipping made easy, it says tips are payable locally what does this mean?

On tours where tipping made easy doesn't apply we advise you how much you should allow for tips, which should be paid in the local currency. If you are unsure how much or who to tip we suggest you refer to your documentation as a suggested tipping list is included.

Are Bunnik tours escorted from Australia?

Bunnik tours are not escorted from Australia. You will be met on arrival at your destination by local guides and your tour will begin from there.

Airfares are included in the cost of some of your tours, but what airlines do you use?

Bunnik use several different airlines depending on the destination. These include Singapore Airlines, Qantas, Qatar, Emirates and LATAM.

Is it possible to book a Bunnik Tour if flights have already been booked or are not required?

Certainly. Even if the tour you're interested in includes airfares, we will also have a 'Land Only' price which excludes the airfares. Please let your Global Journeys Travel Advisor know the preferred tour and departure date and we will be able to advise the 'Land Only' price. Please note that as with all our tours, land only pricing is also subject to seasonality.

Can flights be upgraded to premium economy, business class or first class?

Yes, of course. For tours that already include airfares we will just add a supplement amount to the invoice for the upgrade which will be due in addition to and at the same time as the progress payment.

Can seats be booked on the flights?

All airlines have different policies on seating. If you're booking a tour that includes airfares, please ask your Travel Advisor if the flight booking is eligible to pre-select seating. Some airlines charge a fee for this, which can be done on the airline’s website once the flights have been ticketed.

Is it possible to use a different airline or make changes to the flight itinerary when a tour includes flight costs?

We can book any airline, any dates and any itinerary to fit with other travel arrangements. There may be a difference between the fare booked compared to what is included with the tour (if applicable), so a supplement may apply. Please keep in mind that some airlines have shorter holding times so the progress payment may be brought forward to coincide with the deadline provided by the airline.

Can frequent flyer points be used to book flights?

Yes, points can be used to book flights, however this needs to be done directly with the airline. We can then make a ‘Land Only’ booking. Please double check the tour dates with your travel advisor as the ‘Land Only’ dates can sometimes be different to the normal tour dates.

Bunnik Tours begin at the destination airport of your tour. Tours are not escorted from Australia, however flights to & from Australia are included in the listed prices. You will be met on arrival at your destination by local guides and your tour will begin from there.
