“Kenya and Tanzania - Bunnik Tours”
- WA, Australia Feb 2020 View Photo

We had a great group of 8 including us, we would have preferred a slightly larger group where you get to know people and enjoy their company. A couple of days driving without seeing much in grassland. However the tour was well organised by Bunnik, all the Drivers / Guides were excellent, always on time, friendly, always with a smile, what else can you hope for.

“All the highlights of Kenya and Tanzania”
- NSW, Australia Feb 2020

This trip lived up to the normal Bunnik high standards with only 8 of us in our tour group. Although some of our game drives were very long days and there were also long travelling days between game parks, we visited 8 game parks and saw a lot of Kenya and Tanzania. Perhaps more flying between these parks would of been better. Accommodation, food, sightseeing, and especially our drivers, were all fantastic. A tip for visiting Kenya and Tanzania is that the online visas can be a little complicated to fill in and you need to get all the necessary information and contact details from Bunnik early to complete these forms in a timely manner.

Visiting in February is a nice time to go. Although you won't see the great migration, you will see the migratory animals during their calving season. The landscapes are nice and green, and the game parks are less crowded. Overall this was a great trip, we saw lots of animals and it was nice to have some relaxing days at the end with our Zanzibar extension. Booking with Global Journeys was easy as usual, and both Global Journeys and Bunnik handled arranging early flights home for us because of the pandemic.

“Exciting trip in Sri Lanka”
- NSW, Australia Feb 2020 View Photo

We have just arrived home from our 17 day trip with Bunnik to Sri Lanka, an amazing country with so much history. Our guide Priya was very knowledgeable, entertaining and made us very much at home in his beautiful country. Our group of 17 was very compatible and the bus we travelled in was an excellent size which gave us all plenty of room to move around seats to view the countryside. Hotels were excellent and the meals, what can you say, the very best of Sri Lankan cooking especially the locals that opened up their houses to prepare beautiful curries from their home grown ingredients.

Staying at Yala National Park was one of the highlights with seeing so much of the wildlife and the skill of the Jeep drivers. Other highlights were climbing Lion Rock and the history surrounding the palace built on the top, the train trip from Nuwara Eliya through the tea plantations and learning so much about the history of this magnificent island. A very well organised trip by Global Journeys, Bunnik and our guide Priya, thank you.

“Southern Italy, Sicily and Malta tour”
- NSW, Australia Oct 2019 5 Helpful Votes View Photo

The tour leader in Italy was average, the Malta tour leader was excellent. The hotels in both Italy and Malta were generally disappointing. However the locations in Italy were breathtaking as was Malta. The highlights were staying in a Trulli house in Alberobello and in a cave house in Matera - these were the only good accommodations in the entire tour. Tour pace was hectic and rushed but there was enough free time if you didn't do every optional excursion. Global Journeys were excellent, providing good documentation and reminders. I would definitely use them again.

“Bunnik's Morocco and Kenya in September”
- NSW, Australia Sep 2019

Thank you Jemma for organising our trip so well, even last minute clarification of baggage restrictions. We loved Kenya... Saw so many different animals so close to our vehicles and the guides, accommodation and itinerary were first class. Morocco was fine with a great guide and driver but suffered in comparison with the excitement of being on safari in Kenya. Unfortunately the minibus in Morocco was not up to scratch, seat cushions were worn out and one person on our tour was not a suitable participant for the tour activities.

“Great organisation ”
- NSW, Australia Sep 2019 2 Helpful Votes View Photo

We were so impressed with the booking experience with had with Yvonne Brooks from Global Journeys for our Bunnik tour to Southern Italy and Malta. If you are interested in Ancient history this was an ideal tour. There were 18 Australians in our group. All were well travelled. The highlight was Alberobello and Matera. We added 2 extra nights at the end so had 6 nights in Malta which was fabulous. 2 hotels were changed at the last minute and their location was not as ideal. The other hotels were in central locations. We travelled in early September and it was hot and humid. Any questions we had were answered promptly and our requests professionally handled. We would definitely recommend them and hope to book future tours with Global Journeys again.

“Tiring but exhilarating tour of Turkey and Greece”
- NSW, Australia Sep 2019 View Photo

Our tour leaders in Turkey and in Greece were very knowledgeable and the guides at each location were excellent. Lots to see and especially interesting if you are a history buff. Accommodation generally in Turkey was excellent but not as good in Greece. Tour pace was very hectic, scheduling of times was not ideal - had 1 bus journey from Konya to Pamukkale in Turkey lasting 7.5 hrs (with stops). Not enough free time at each location which made the tour hectic and tiring. However on the whole the tour locations were very good. The highlight of our tour was hot-air ballooning in Cappadocia - fantastic. This in itself made the tour worthwhile. Also had a 3 day cruise of the Greek Isles. The ship was extremely crammed with passengers which made the entire cruise uncomfortable but the ports were very interesting. Global Journeys provided excellent service with documentation and timely reminders. I would definitely use them again.

The Bunnik Experience

Why you should choose to travel with Bunnik on your next adventure

Bunnik Small Group Touring
Bunnik Small Group Touring

When Marion Bunnik started Bunnik Tours, Australia didn't need another tour company - it needed a better way of touring! In an industry dominated by large multinationals and mass tourism, Bunnik Tours stands alone. Our aim is simple, to provide a better way for Australians to see the world. As a family business we understand that our family's name and reputation is at stake every time we sell a holiday. That's why we're proud to call these tours our own.

Bunnik's maximum group size is just 20, and even less for some tours in Asia & Africa. For us small groups make for a better holiday experience. They are more personal and you spend less time waiting and more time enjoying your holiday. Small groups are better for sustainability too! We get to visit smaller local businesses on our travels and stay in smaller centrally-located properties which are often impractical for large groups.

Return International Flights Included
Return International Flights Included!

Unlike most tour companies, Bunnik include domestic and international flights from Australia in all of their small group tour packages. Plus their airfares have built-in flexibility so you're able to extend your stay, fly in or out of other cities or upgrade your flights to business or first class.

Anything is possible just ask your Global Journeys friendly team of travel advisors when enquiring.

From cable cars to camels and Turkish gulets

While smaller groups mean you'll enjoy plenty of space on-board your coach, you can also expect plenty of variety as you explore the world with Bunnik. You'll travel on camels in Egypt, and on traditional boats in the Amazon, Egypt and Turkey.

While in other parts of the world, we Bunnik the most amazing collection of jeeps, old Chevys, cyclos and rickshaws.

Unique Local Experiences
Unique Local Experiences

Small group touring is about being shown around by locals and really capturing the essence of the destination. It means seeing the famous attractions but also wandering off the tourist trail. So much more than just a coach tour, you'll experience the culture, meet the locals and savour the wonderful food.

That's why we also include a range of experiences designed to capture the essence of the places we visit. Experiences like enjoying lunch with a local family in a small rural village in Sri Lanka, making Pizza in Sorrento, Italy, travelling by traditional style boats or exploring the deserts of India, Jordan and Morocco by camel!

Bunnik Tour FAQ's

Frequently asked questions for clients considering travelling with Bunnik

Before I book
What are the average ages of people travelling on a Bunnik Tour?

Bunnik group tours have been specifically designed for 'the not too young and not too old'. There are lots of tour companies out there catering for the younger party crowd or the older traveller so we like to think of our tours as being for the forgotten age group in between, that's people aged 45-65. However, we have many people enjoying our tours who are younger than 45 and older than 65. So you'll find we never discriminate on the basis of age. Please note though passengers over 70 will be required to obtain a doctors clearance before travelling.

Can I bring my children on tour with me?

Children aged 14 and over can travel on our group tours.

You say all your tours operate in small groups, what are the group sizes?

Group size is important when travelling. Small groups mean less time waiting and more time enjoying your holiday. For our 2017 season we've limited group sizes to a maximum of 20 across all our small group tours. Some regions like Africa offer even smaller groups of 12.

What standard of hotels do you use on your tours?

On our tours we use good quality 3-4 star hotels. However, rather than concentrate solely on star ratings and creature comforts we choose our hotels based on the following criteria: cleanliness, great service, atmosphere and location.

What type of transport does Bunnik use?

Expect plenty of variety as you explore the world with Bunnik Tours. You'll travel on elephants in India and Thailand and on traditional boats in the Amazon, Egypt and Turkey. While in other parts of the world, we use the most amazing collection of jeeps, old Chevys, cyclos and rickshaws. At last count we offered more than 10 completely different train experiences, including Japan's exhilarating bullet train. Yes, our mini-busses and coaches are clean and air-conditioned, but we think you'll enjoy everything else so much more.

I am a single traveller, am I still able to travel on one of your group tours?

Single travellers are welcome on all Bunniks tours and make up a fair number of passengers. You can choose to have a single room and pay a single supplement or you can ask us to match you up with another traveller of the same gender and pay just the twin-share rate.

On some of your tours you have a tipping made easy program how does this work?

In many parts of the world tipping is a customary practice and often makes up a large part of people's wages so it's important to get it right. Our tipping made easy program is a simple system that sees us collect tips at time of booking. We then pay these tips to our local staff and they take care of all the tips. Easy! Please note on tours where 'tipping made easy' operates it is compulsory that all tour members participate.

The tour I am interested in doesn't have tipping made easy, it says tips are payable locally what does this mean?

On tours where tipping made easy doesn't apply we advise you how much you should allow for tips, which should be paid in the local currency. If you are unsure how much or who to tip we suggest you refer to your documentation as a suggested tipping list is included.

Flights
Are Bunnik tours escorted from Australia?

Bunnik tours are not escorted from Australia. You will be met on arrival at your destination by local guides and your tour will begin from there.

Airfares are included in the tour costs, but what airlines do Bunnik use?

Bunnik use a number of different airlines depending on your destination these include; Singapore Airlines, Emirates, Virgin Airlines and Lan Chile.

Do I have to be physically fit in order to travel on a Bunnik Tour?

Bunnik tours do require a certain level of fitness and mobility. You should be able to carry your own bags as porter services are not always available at all hotels, and you should be able to walk over 2km on uneven ground and climb several flights of stairs. Passengers who are 70 and over will be required to obtain a doctor's clearance before travelling.

Can I upgrade my flights to business class or premium economy?

Yes of course. You can even choose a different airline to the default one Bunnik uses. However, please keep in mind that you will need to pay the difference in the fare you choose compared to the airfare included.

Why should I take advantage of your special airfares when so many specials are on the market?

Two reasons – our fares are special wholesale fares which are usually as competitive if not less expensive than the specials you see advertised. Secondly, if you book a tour with us and we organise the airfare, you are protected in case we need to cancel the tour for any reason (if you book a special airfare yourself and we cancel the tour, you will be charged change/cancellation fees by the airlines).

Is it possible to go on a tour if I have already organised my own flights?

Certainly, for every tour in Bunniks program they also have a land only price which excludes the airfares. Please enquire on the tour you prefer, filling in your flight requirements in the comments section, for more information.

Can I depart earlier than an advertised departure date and return home later than the tour end date?

Yes, your flights are fully flexible with the departure and return dates. You can depart from Australia earlier than the rest of the tour group and return home later after the end of the tour. Bunnik Tours is a fully licensed travel agency and apart from booking Bunnik Tours for clients we can arrange any other holiday requests for you before and after your tour. This includes; flights, accommodation, car hire, rail passes and cruises.

Arrival & departure details

Bunnik Tours begin at the destination airport of your tour. Tours are not escorted from Australia, however flights to & from Australia are included in the listed prices. You will be met on arrival at your destination by local guides and your tour will begin from there.
