In short, all the ingredients you need to cook up a Western Australia tour from Perth you won’t forget in a hurry.

Itinerary

Perth may be the West Australian capital, but it's home to a remarkable amount of green space. Join your Travel Director on a city sights tour and a stroll through Kings Park, whose Botanic Garden is home to over 3,000 floral species. It's a relaxed entrée to the next 10 days of action and adventure. Your Western Australia tour from Perth is primed to begin. Meet again this evening for dinner with your Travel Director and travelling companions. (D) Stay: Holiday Inn West Perth

At the start of your tour from Perth, say hello to Wave Rock, a 110-metre, rainbow-hued granite swell formed more than three million years ago. Fun fact: the visitor centre here has the world's largest collection of toy soldiers.

Wave Rock local Sheenagh knows a thing or two about life on the land. She's passionate about her farm, and proudly shows off the outback while you explore the wide open spaces that characterise the WA countryside. You'll also get to glimpse her collection of vintage cars – who knew folks in this part of the world were such avid collectors? (B/D) Stay: Wave Rock Motel, Hyden

Today is deep – quite literally. Your journey through classic WA outback lands you in Kalgoorlie – view the wide gold rush era streets and buildings, and take in vistas over the staggering ‘Super Pit' open-cut gold mine. Put life into perspective standing next to monstrous loaders and Haul trucks at Hannans North Mine. It's a shimmering opportunity to experience gold rush history and discover the Golden Mile. (B/D) Stay: Rydges Kalgoorlie

More than 31,000 hectares of sweeping heathlands, rugged coastal peaks and white sandy beaches… it's no wonder Cape Le Grand National Park is voted among the most alluring of its kind in Australia. Just when you thought WA couldn't get any prettier, you arrive at Thistle Cove – listen for the whistle of the Whistling Rock among the sounds of wind and sea – and Lucky Bay, a postcard-worthy cove where kangaroos love lounging on the beach.

Continue to the scenic Hellfire Bay, where you meet your Aboriginal guide. On this MAKE TRAVEL MATTER® Experience, learn about the cultural history of the Wudjari people and the rich nature of this stunning area. (B/D) Stay: Comfort Inn Bay of Isles

Today's tour from Esperance continues through some of the most bountiful wilderness areas in the state, including the Stirling Range National Park, filled seasonally with a staggering range of wildflowers – more than 1,500 different plant species, some of which are found nowhere else on earth. Get an overview from the Bluff Knoll Lookout, topping one of WA's highest peaks. (B) Stay: The Dog Rock Motel

Albany turns on pretty much every charm, whether you're ready for more nature, are a history buff, or feel like it's time for food and wine. You have a day at leisure to go in whichever direction you please. Perhaps opt for a tour that relives the town's heritage as the last port of call for ANZAC troopships departing Australia in WWI. Maybe explore Torndirrup National Park, where steep cliffs give way to dramatic rock formations and whales are a common sight during migration. Or get a taste for the region on a culinary excursion (all own expense). (B)

Suspended 40 metres above the forest floor, the Tree Top Walk gives you a bird's-eye view of the soaring tingle trees that stand large through the Valley of the Giants. The Margaret River region of Western Australia deserves its reputation as one of the county's top grape-growing areas.

There are too many high-quality vineyards to name here. So, we'll give you just one: Hamelin Bay Wines. Since 1992, this postcard-perfect estate has been producing wines that hero this pocket of the state, where the Indian and Southern oceans converge. The result is delicious drops that span the spectrum from sparkling to shiraz, rose to reserve chardonnay, which you'll enjoy during a hosted tasting at the cellar door and then dinner in the on-site restaurant. (B/D) Stay: Grande Escape Resort

The Margaret River is one of the only wine regions in the world where grapes are grown just metres from the sand. Winery backdrops follow you all the way to Busselton, home to the longest wooden jetty in the Southern Hemisphere. Tip your cap to those who built this 1.8-kilometre structure out into Geographe Bay. The remainder of the day is all yours in Freo. Why not explore the Fremantle Markets, which boasts over 150 stalls? (B) Stay: Esplanade Hotel Fremantle - by Rydges

Sometimes, the most memorable travel days are those where you lose yourself wandering the foreshore, lingering over lunch or a cool ale. We highly recommend you spend this day of leisure doing just that (Freo's Little Creatures Brewery is legendary). Of course, having a local show you around also has its benefits, with a Fremantle tour revealing those hidden haunts most visitors pass right on by (own expense).

If you're catching the ferry for a Rottnest Island tour, make sure you have your phone ready to capture selfies with the island's smiley quokkas, not to mention the blindingly turquoise water (own expense). (B)

Ten Days. Too many beaches to count. Wildlife galore. A few wine bottles and a few thousand memories... this trip is one for the record books. (B)

SW WA Explorer 1 , VIC, Australia, Sep 2022
Overall an excellent tour. Tour director and driver did a very good job. Accommodation and meals were generally excellent. Two exeptions, the Perth Hotel which was way past its use by date and Rydges at Fremantle which put on a fairly ordinary farewell dinner. AAT could have been more upfront about their Covid restrictions rather than leaving it to the TD to advise.
Wonderful trip of South Western Australia 4 , VIC, Australia, Jul 2018
What a wonderful time my friends and I had on the 10 day tour of the south west area of Western Australia! We loved the tour and all it had to offer, even though we travelled long hours on a lot of the days. The scenery was very varied, from the amazing Wave Rock, the beautiful red dirt of the outback, the magnificent white sandy beaches and rugged read more coastline, the tree-top walk high above the tall trees, our delicious meal at a Margaret River winery and many, many more wonderful things we saw and did. The hotels we stayed at were great, as were the included meals. We certainly didn't go hungry!

Our fairly new coach was very comfortable and our tour director, Gordon, was fantastic. He was so knowledgeable and was always so polite and patient and went out of his way to make sure we were OK. Our coach driver, Ralph, was also great and we felt very safe with his driving and maneuvering of the coach down narrow, congested streets. Gordon and Ralph were both very entertaining, which added to the enjoyment of our holiday. Even though we went in July, the weather was very kind to us, with temperatures between about 17-22 degrees during the day, but very cold at night, so you definitely need a warm coat and layers of clothing.

Madeline at Global Journeys was always so friendly, prompt and efficient with all of our queries or requests, whether it was via a phone call or email. Thank you Madeline for taking care of our booking. I would highly recommend travelling with AAT Kings and booking with Global Journeys.
Wonderful trip! 5 , New Zealand, Oct 2016
Wonderful trip. Very good mix of people and ages. Excellent tour leader and coach driver. 2 satisfied Kiwis who have recommended your tour to friends. Only disappointment was lack of a group photo which we have not received.
Nearly everything was excellent 3 , NZ, New Zealand, Oct 2015
We met Liz again who was our guide in the Kimberley in 2011! We would never have been able to cover so much ground without AAT. Nearly everything was excellent. I suppose time and distances precluded us from spending longer at some of the sites such as Cape le Grand NP. Having hearing problems, both my husband and I found the ding room layout at read more all hotels except the Fremantle Esplanade an ordeal as the noise of so many people talking and low ceilings made it impossible to have conversations - that is more our problem than AAT's but maybe smaller tables seating 4-6 people would work better. Thank you for organising it all so well.
Excellent tour with good accommodation at all places 4 , New Zealand, Sep 2014
I'm delighted to have the opportunity to let you know what I thought of my recent tour with AAT Kings. Could not fault it. An excellent tour with good accommodation at all places. A big thank you has to go to the Tour Hostess Sylvia and the driver, I cannot remember his name. They were both exceptional I thought. Nothing hassled her and she was a read more ball of knowledge on all subjects. Excelled at keeping everyone entertained and happy. The km's flew by with her patter which was never intrusive. Would recommend the tour company to anyone. Also very happy with your service Yvonne, and would certainly use Global Journeys again. I hope this is a glowing report as that is what I want it to be.
