Itinerary

Your Remarkable Adelaide to Kangaroo Island adventure begins today with a city tour before travelling through the Fleurieu Peninsula, a beautiful region known for its stunning coastline, picturesque towns, and rich cultural heritage. At Cape Jervis, it's all aboard as you cruise south across the Backstairs Passage bound for Penneshaw, Kangaroo Island's second largest town.

On arrival why not take a walk along the Kangaroo Island Sculpture Trail, delve into the island's history at the Maritime and Folk Museum or just relax with a dip at the beach. The choice is yours! This evening, enjoy dinner at the hotel with your travelling companions.

Accommodation: Seafront Hotel Kangaroo Island
Included Meals: Dinner

After a leisurely breakfast, your Kangaroo Island tour begins with a visit to Cape Willoughby Conservation Park, home to South Australia's oldest operational lighthouse. Explore the visitor centre & museum to learn about the rich maritime history before taking a walk around the lighthouse and enjoying the panoramic views of Cape Willoughby.

Next, you'll discover the history of Kangaroo Island Wool as you embark on a unique and captivating 75-minute journey through time on a working mill tour. Begin with an unforgettable cinematic experience within Australia's only 9-metre Igloo Dome, where you'll be transported to the heart of Kangaroo Island.

Discover the fascinating story of the island's wool industry, from its early settlers to the present-day wool farmers who have shaped its rich heritage. Meet the people who have played a crucial role in shaping Kangaroo Island's wool legacy and gain a deeper understanding of the island's history and culture.

Working up a thirst, your final stop of the day is to meet Mike, your host at Kangaroo Island Brewery. This is no ordinary brew-house – Mike makes all his beers using rainwater he collects from the roof of his shed. Try a paddle of his liquid gold, or sip wine or cider while chatting with your affable host.

Accommodation: Ozone Hotel Kangaroo Island
Included Meals: Breakfast

Today, your kangaroo island trip mixes wilderness, wildlife and wonderful food in equal measure. Your outlook begins on a high at the Remarkable Rocks. Formed some 500 million years ago, the precariously balanced, rust-hued granite boulders cut a dramatic form against the inky blue of the Southern Ocean and silvery shrubs that cover the countryside.

Your outlook is just as wild at Admirals Arch, a natural rock formation within Flinders Chase National Park, and a popular hangout for cacophonous New Zealand fur seals. The colony loll about on just about every surface you can see. They're petite compared to the creatures found at Seal Bay Conservation Park, a MAKE TRAVEL MATTER® Experience where playful seals tumble down the sand to splash about in the water – metres from where you stand. And on to that food and drink.

After a delicious two-course lunch, Peter at Island Beehive will dish up samples of the honey (and delicious honey ice-cream) he makes here using Ligurian bees. They're found on KI, and nowhere else in Australia. Meanwhile, the owners of Islander Estate Vineyard will pour you a glass or two and talk through the production of their wines.

Accommodation: Ozone Hotel Kangaroo Island
Included Meals: Breakfast, Lunch

Before your kangaroo island trip ends, follow your nose to Emu Ridge Eucalyptus Distillery. If Australia was an aroma, this would be it. Here you'll take a guided tour and learn about the distillation process and how eucalyptus oil is extracted from the native Kangaroo Island Narrow Leaf Mallee. Visit the farmgate shop and pick up essential oils, body creams, sweets, honey and soaps, and taste some of the island's best cider. Then bliss out knowing that anything you eat or use not only tastes and smells great but also has therapeutic properties.

Back on the mainland, travel through the picturesque Fleurieu Peninsula with its rolling vineyards, pristine beaches, and charming towns. Returning to the city, bags a few kilos heavier thanks to all that honey, wine and eucalyptus, it's time to bid farewell to Adelaide and Australia's second largest (but perhaps most beguiling) island. Your tour concludes at 3.30pm back in Adelaide.

Very efficiently organized tour 1 , NSW, Australia, Apr 2021
Everything went seamlessly from booking the journey to the journey itself. Pre and Post accommodation at Adelaide was nice, if you don't count the proximity of the hotel to the CBD. We had been told that we would be picked up at Sage Hotel on day 1. But when I rang up the tour operator, just to be sure, they said they had not been informed about our read more pick up from Sage hotel. Communication?

The accommodation at Kangaroo Island was also very nice. On day 1 at around 4.15pm were just 15 mins away from this accommodation but for some strange reason they took us all the way back to Ferry terminal, asked us to have dinner there and finally brought us to the accommodation at around 7.30pm. Why?

All the activities were very well thought of and very interesting. Lunch provided on both the days were of high standard. We are vegetarians and they did provide excellent quality vegetarian food as per our request. Bus drivers were very live and knowledgeable.
Kangaroo Island 4 , NSW, Australia, Sep 2017
Impressed with AAT Kings organisation. Overall the hotel accommodation was good and the meals provided were of good quality. Main complaint was that there were no separate shower recesses - only shower over baths. I find it difficult to get in and out of baths. Perhaps when filling in future details there be space to check that need.
Adelaide & Kangaroo Island Adventure   3 , NSW, Australia, Nov 2016
I really enjoyed my stay in Adelaide. The tour showed me lots of different aspects of Adelaide from its churches and cathedrals to the beautiful wineries in the Barossa. Kangaroo Island was stunning and the Aurora Hotel was great. I loved all the fur seals, the sea lions and the koalas. I really loved all the beautiful scenery and the masses of colourful read more flowers everywhere. Especially all the roses. The tour drivers were very informative and looked after us all very well.
I will be going back to Adelaide and Kangaroo lsland again.
Tour was great 3 , NZ, New Zealand, Aug 2015
The itinerary which was sent beforehand was a little out of date. Not a major problem as I took the recommendation to ring and confirm pick up times when I got to the hotel but just as well I did. The Chiffley was looking pretty sad and in need of an upgrade and I would have preferred to have been somewhere more central. Walking down the road in the read more morning for breakfast was a new experience and I think the whole choice of hotel needs a rethink. The tour was great and the hotel on Kangaroo Island felt a little more upmarket. Hard to get a booking for dinner that night so maybe include this in the tour?
We enjoyed ourselves 2 , Australia, Apr 2014
When booked I thought we were on an organised tour with AAT Kings. It turned out to be a couple of tours by other operators and accommodation before & after so it was a bit confusing especially as our first tour was changed and we weren't notified. We enjoyed ourselves though and would recommend Stamford Plaza Adelaide as they went out of their way read more to help us. Also the trip to Kangaroo Island was wonderful. I will get a quote from Global Journeys for my next trip which will hopefully be later this year.
We thoroughly enjoyed our tour 4 , United Kingdom, Jan 2013
Our Adelaide/Kangaroo Island tour was excellent and your Global Journeys Tour Consultant (Kirby O'Connor) was fantastic. Being of a certain age we had never booked anything like this online before but Kirby made everything so easy and was so efficient, it was a pleasure to deal with her. The Crowne Plaza hotel and staff were first class and the tour read more guides in Adelaide and Kangaroo Island were helpful and knowledgeable. We thoroughly enjoyed our tour.
