Fast paced overview of the UK and good value 3 , Australia, Jun 2014
Overall the tour was a good overview of the United Kingdom, we enjoyed it and we found it to be good value. Hotel standards and service were generally good and better than expected considering the price of the tour, although there were a couple of exceptions. Generally optional excursions were excellent. Tour director was very well informed and flexible read more where possible within the parameters of the tour and dealt very well with unexpected contingencies. We would recommend inclusion of Chester in the tour as it is an iconic town. We went to Chester because one of our excursions was cancelled due to industrial action in Wales. Bus drivers were excellent, including relief drivers. Went to numerous locations in a relatively short period of time and would have liked more stops with photo opportunities rather than just seeing some things from a distance. Would have liked more time to explore towns but realize the time frame of the tour does not allow this. We describe the tour as a fast paced overview of the UK and would recommend it as good value.
Covered a lot of territory without feeling too rushed 2 , Australia, Oct 2013
The tour was well organized and covered a lot of territory in the time without feeling too rushed. Both tour guide and driver were helpful and responsive to customer requests. The accommodation and inclusions provided excellent value for money. Though with this level of tour some of the hotels were not in the towns for the most part public transport read more was readily and easily accessible. I appreciated making the odd stop at out of the way places and taking coastal scenic routes. I could see the guide and driver were constantly trying to be flexible to provide the most rewarding experience for clients. Hannah's pre-trip organization was thorough and her communication throughout ensured everything went without a hitch.
We would recommend this trip to anyone 1 , Australia, Aug 2013
Congratulations Cosmos, we have just returned from one of your holidays. We had a fantastic time. Our Tour Leader & Bus Driver were excellent. We didn't have to worry about anything, everything was organized for us, we just had to make sure we were on time. We learnt so much from our tour director as he had a lot of knowledge on The British Ilse & read more it's history. Our driver was very conscious of safety but also went out of his way to show us as much as he could from the coach We would recommend this trip to anyone.
Excellent except for coach 2 , Australia, Aug 2013
Would of rated this excellent if it wasn't for the coach that Cosmos used. We had an excellent driver who had to deal with a coach with faults. Legacy Hotel in Plymouth was disgraceful however we have been told that Cosmos will not be renewing the contract. Hotel change in Glasgow - hotel and meals itself were great - only problem was that it was dog read more friendly. Not sure whether Cosmos was aware of this if not I think they need to ask these questions as there could be people with allergies on the tour.
Overall good value for money, definitely worth doing 1 , Australia, Aug 2013
On the go all the time would have liked more 2 night stops but realize so much to see in the time we had so you have to make sure you check your itinerary carefully. Our tour guide Tara was brilliant and made our trip a fabulous one, nothing too much trouble for her. Food was really good in most places. Hotels fine some better than others and plumbing read more a challenge in some of them. Nothing you can't overcome! Washing clothes and getting dry also a challenge but you manage. Coach could have been a little more leg room in spots but the rotation each day was good. Need to make sure you check your mobile phones for OS before leaving and Ipad use on wiifi not always available in places. Overall good value for money, would recommend the British Isles in Depth trip definitely worth doing.
Loved every minute of it! 1 , Australia, Jul 2013
A fast paced holiday but one that gave a really good overview of each area travelled to. An excellent guide who had a fantastic grasp on history and local knowledge, I really felt like I was being immersed in the local culture in each region especially with the optional activities. Pleasant and competent driver, I felt safe at all times. Loved every minute of it!
Wonderful tour - very full on 1 , Australia, Jun 2013
Tour of the British Isles in Depth was wonderful tour - very full on. Our guide Roseanne was excellent. Newcastle and Brighton evening meals were only just! Kensington Close Hotel is in a good location. Our bed at Kensington Close was shear torture after the tour.
A most enjoyable and memorable time 1 , Australia, Jun 2013
Our tour was very good. Our guide Roseanne was excellent, so organized, knowelgable and approachable. She really made our tour & she also kept the large group under control and on time. We saw all the things we wanted to see and more, all hotels where good with some very good & meals where also very good. We had a most enjoyable and memorable time.
I had a very enjoyable time 2 , Australia, Jun 2013
I enjoyed the tour and appreciate there are limitations on time and also Cosmos can't keep all the people happy all the time. Overall though I had a very good holiday. I am reluctant to complain but there a few minor things that I wasn't entirely happy with. Firstly being a single person it was dissappointing that there was only 2 other single people read more on this trip of my age group (I am 51) with a tour group number of 43. Apparently this is not unsual with Cosmos. The people I toured with were all lovely people but I may have enjoyed myself more with more people of a similar age group. A few of the hotels were placed on the outskirts of towns which was incovenient. Also we seemed to stay at some unsual places and drive straight past what I thought looked like more interesting places to visit. The tour director was a very polite and humourous man. However I think we could have been given much more appropriate and relavant info on each location we visited. It seemed to be totally up to us to find out all the points on interest on where we stopped. Overall as I said before I had a very enjoyable time. In hindsight this was a good trip to do to help you gauge what you might like to see in depth at a later date and what you may decide to give a miss.
We covered such amazing places 1 , Australia, Jun 2013
The early morning starts took some getting used to, cases outside the door by 7am, 7.30am. Great when we had two nights in the one stop, or a later start. Buying lunch each day and sometimes our evening meal proved costly. I would also have liked a map of the various places we stopped for an hour or so, to be able to confidently move away from the coach. read more Three weeks was probably a little long to be on a coach, yet overall we had a great time. We covered such amazing places, it was well worth the time spent on this trip.
The tour was everything we expected and more 2 , Australia, May 2013
The tour was everything we expected and more. Our rooms in the hotels were all good once we were out of London. The one in London was a bit small but had an excellent location. There were some places we would have liked to spend more time in but understand that we did everything possible in the 21 days we had. The tour has made us hungry for more and read more we will probably return to do the things we missed out on. Our bus driver Mark and tour director Angela were exceptional. Would recommend this tour to anyone that has not been to the UK as you really get a taste of everything and some really excellent optional excursions are available.
Enjoyed our tour but there were a few issues 1 , Australia, May 2013
We enjoyed our tour but there were a few things that we were were not happy with. Being dropped in a city in the cold and rain to walk around for a few hours (perhaps alternatives need to be made on days like this) but why do we need to spend time walking around for hours in cities? Perhaps you could visit some of the smaller scenic places along the read more way instead of driving flat out to get from one city to the next. Our tour director seemed to know a lot about the royals and who was married to who but are there many people that really care about that type of thing. Strathpeffer accommodation was appalling (nice old hotel though). The meals that were supplied were all quite good except for the buffet style meals.
Thank you for an absolutely fabulous holiday 2 , Australia, Oct 2012
I did the last British Isles In Depth tour of the season and had an absolutely fabulous holiday. The tour guide Matthew and driver Dai were the best. The accommodation was fabulous and we were lucky enough to have the best group of people to enjoy our holiday with. The itinerary was excellent. This was my fifth cosmos tour and have enjoyed every one read more of them so much that I am planning to combine 5 tours next year. I will not travel with any other group. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
To do this on your own would cost a lot more 1 , Australia, Sep 2012
I spent a great 21days touring England and Ireland a trip that was filled with excitement each and every day. The hotels were great except the one in Plymouth and Brighton. A great bunch of people on the tour and everyone got on well. The Tour Coordinator Rosanee gave us a running commentary on each place that we visited, I must commend her as her knowledge read more was vast and to now have that knowledge is even better. We will go back to Bath and Edinburgh exciting places. I am now going to go ahead with the 19 Day Tour of Europe. Global Journeys are a great company and we received excellent service and assistance from my Tour Consultant Yvonne. To do this on your own would cost a lot more and then again you would not get the knowledge from people like Rosanne.
I am glad that we did the trip 1 , Australia, Aug 2012
Now that we have been home for a while and been through the photo's, we are enjoying the trip even more than when we were there. Sorry to say we were disappointed with the trip at the time - it was too intense, not enough time to really enjoy the townships and too much time in souvenir shops (which we are not interested in). A lot of times we were taken read more to the outskirts of the towns so that you didn't have enough time to even walk in and have a look at the township, but when we did get to visit the towns they were great. Our tour guide did a lot of talking and repeating himself, made a lot of mistakes with pointing out positions of things (he would say to look right and the object would be on the left etc.) he said that he had been doing his job for over 20yrs so he should have had it right by now. There was one place on our itenerary that we were not even taken to and it wasn't until the day we were supposed to be going there that we were told that we would not be taken there as it was closed 3yrs before hand. Accommodation was great on the whole, there were a couple of not so good places but all in all it was fine. Meals were great bar one night when we had what could only be classed as a cheap cafe meal. We were all disappointed that we did not get the time to go into Stonehenge or have the time to do so, but glad we got to at least stop and take photo's over the fence. So yes, there were some disappointments but we would never have seen as much as we saw if we had not done the trip. We have a good idea where we would like to go back and see and I think that this is really the purpose for a trip like this one. As I said at the beginning, we are really enjoying the photo's and re-living the good times so I am glad that we did the trip.
Thanks for your great service and we'll be back 1 , Australia, Aug 2012
We had a lovely 21 day tour over the UK and Ireland and would like to give tour guide Bob Kenny and driver Richard Walker high praise. Bob was very up to date with the local histories of the various places we went to which we found very interesting. To top that off he would play the appropriate music to fit in with what we saw. Richard was an excellent read more driver especially in the busy towns/cities and along those narrow windy tracks in Scotland and the Irish Republic.
I knew I was in good hands 1 , Australia, Aug 2012
Tour was well organised; tour guide very knowledgeable and accommodating; tour driver was highly skilled and cute! and overall I couldn't have asked for much more. Well maybe a couple of things - some stops especially those scheduled early morning (ie 8.30am) left us in places where nothing was open, couldn't even get a coffee, and out of the ten dinners read more provided after the third or fourth the choice seemed very familiar. ie pork, fish, chicken. All hotels were great for what they were, the up market hotels were fantastic with prices to match, and the well used but comfy ones were comfy with reasonable prices. I'm already planning my next tour and I'm positive I'll use Cosmos & Global Journeys again...all in all I knew I was in good hands.
Edinburgh tattoo was a great inclusion on the tour 1 , Australia, Aug 2012
Wonderful tour great tour guide couldn't wish for more, even the weather was good. Recommend to anyone wishing to have tour of British Isles and Ireland. Edinburgh tattoo was a great inclusion on the tour.
Tour guide was a wealth of information 1 , Australia, Jun 2012
Flights with Royal Brunei OK but some maintenance problems such as videos not working, footrest not staying upright. Borneo airport not good place to be for any length of time. Check-in at London Airport was a shambles with a 1.5 hour wait in queue. Airport transfers were good. Hotels mostly good with some 'remote locations'. No A/C which would be problem read more in warmer weather. If all optionals taken (most included meals) the extra cost would be 733 pounds or $1,200. Included dinners good (some very good) except two where food and service left more than a bit to be desired. Most 'known' places included in tour which can be a bit boring especially in the first 10 days or so. Essential pre and post tour accommodation should be included in tour (as it is for US participants). Tour guide was a wealth of information, both historic and local.
Would do another trip with Cosmos in a heartbeat 1 , Australia, Jun 2012
The trip was great and would do another one with Cosmos in a heartbeat. Motels were fine, some more special and memorable than others but all very high standard. Rooms were warm, staff very accommodating. Food/breakfasts were fabulous at all motels. Coach driver and Tour director were a heap of fun and we all (12 couples and 15 singles) bonded very read more quickly. Not a problem anywhere and would consider another one, be it coach or cruise without a doubt in the future. Thank you.
