The Cosmos coach tour section was fabulous! This was due to the Tour Director Sue Arnott & driver Steve. Sue was very knowledgeable about the area, history, best places to eat, local stories, etc & Steve kept on time & the bus in excellent condition. We were a bit disapointed the average age of those on the tour were at least 10 years older than us. Although most of the people were very nice, we would have preferred to be with people in their 40's, not late 50's up to late 80's! Accommodation was good except for Bow Lodge in Banff & Sandman in Vancouver - both were very average & Sandman had plumbing issues in our room. The Holland America cruise was quite disappointing. The average age was at least 20 years older than us. We felt there was a huge focus on selling & it was unclear what was included & what cost extra. The scenery was amazing but was forever being interrupted by the photographers trying to sell you a photo. We intend to advise Holland America about the conduct of their Art Auctioneer Lawrence who insulted us. We were surprised and annoyed we had to provide a credit card on registration with the expectation that we would spend $60 US pppd. We didn't even spend 1/2 that by the end of the cruise & we hadn't been advised by Global Journeys at any point. Tendering to shore in Juneau took 1.5 hr - way too much time. In all 3 ports it was sell, sell, sell so by the time we arrived at the last stop in Ketchikan we were very tired of store owners & their kids trying to pull us into the shop. Many of them were reluctant to give out the promoted 'free' jewellery & always, always tried to sell us something. For first time cruisers, we weren't very impressed & unlikely to take another one.
