The Canadian Rockies with Alaska Cruise Reviews

We were first timers for booking a tour so we didn't know what to expect! What can we say, besides it was a fantastic way to spend 3 wonderful weeks in 2 countries. From the booking of the tour with Jemma who made it so effortless to a great tour guide named Brad we couldn't have asked for more. We made great friends on both the bus and cruise and got read more to see so many different things. The bus driver was always accommodating and made sure we stopped and saw any interesting things along the route. We always had a laugh and were part of a great group however there was plenty of time to do your own thing on those free days. This is certainly a time I will cherish amongst my fondest memories. Thank you to everyone involved!!

We had a great time on our holiday and have the following suggestions that may help future trips.
I suggest that Cosmos (or Global) highlight the risks associated with the bushfire season in Canada. This has been a regular problem for three years now and significantly detracts from the scenic expectations of the whole tour. I understand that it is read more a natural issue and beyond anyone's control but a warning may have helped when selecting a date for the holiday.

Our tour guide and driver were fantastic and hotels were great with one exception. We would not pick a tour again that included The Sandman Hotel in Vancouver. The room was too small (could not open two suitcases) and very noisy.

On any future cruise we contemplate we would need to know how it interacts with other cruise line timetables. Arriving at small towns (eg: Ketchikan) with four other cruise ships does not allow an enjoyable port experience.

My husband and I had a great time on our tour. The pace of the tour suited our needs and our tour director Brad and our driver Mickey were fantastic. Thank you to Madeline for making the booking process so easy. Words cannot describe the beauty of Canada and Alaska and I would encourage anyone thinking of doing this tour to do it.

The whole experience was wonderful. From when we were greeted by our tour director Alma till we disembarked from the ship at the end of the cruise. Everything went smoothly, and we didn't have to think of what we would do next, because it would be explained by our Cosmos guide very clearly, and always answered our questions. Accommodation was very good. read more Extras were the best. Alma our guide was able to talk some hotels to supply continental breakfast, a bonus.

The ship Nieuw Amsterdam was a lovely ship, although we had an inside cabin, it didn't matter. There were plenty of vantage points, and decided to hire a cabana for the week (very much worth it). The ships decor was lovely. The food outstanding. All in all it was a brilliant time away, both land and ship tours. I would recommend it to anyone. Anything I saw not right, was minor.

Was a very great trip - the tour guide Serena for the land component of the tour was excellent and she was incredibly knowledgeable, caring and accessible.

We had a great tour director in Alma. She had so much enthusiasm for her country and the wildlife and was totally efficient in ensuring our accommodation was always ready for us after a day of travelling. We stayed in quality motels and were shown most of the highlights in this part of the world. The mountains covered with snow took our breath away read more - very spectacular.

One of the down spots to the trip was arriving via Air Canada at 7am and not being able to get our hotel room until 3pm after a 14 hour trip. The Holland/America cruise ship Volendam for our trip to Alaska was excellent but there were no Cosmos reps on board. Felt a bit out of it with all the Scenic, APT etc people who all had there own tour director. We chose our own excursions on line before we left and all were great, especially in Skagway which was the highlight of our trip. Cosmos really looked after us on the bus tour in Canada.

We had a very good experience booking our trip through Global Journeys and this was our third time using their services. Georgie our consultant was very helpful and answered all our queries promptly. Our tour director, Serena Campbell, was excellent. Serena was very caring, organized, knowledgeable about the area we went and advised us on good restaurants. read more She also arranged unscheduled stops to give us the opportunity to take photos of beautiful Rockies area. We were lucky as we had a very good weather from day one until the tour finished. The cruise to Alaska with Holland America was smooth and enjoyable. The most memorable one is the Glacier Bay where we witnessed pieces of glacier broke off and fell into the water.

We had a fantastic tour director in Kacey, he was calm witty and full of information. Our driver Steve was a great driver and very careful. Banff , Lake Louise Sun peaks and Whistler were fantastic with great accommodation (Jasper was the only disappointment - the hotel was a big walk out of town and needs refurbishing but the breakfast was good). read more Steve and Kacey took us around the town to familiarise us with the places which was fantastic, Can't say enough about them they were fantastic. Holland American cruise was out of this world.

The Global Journeys booking process was great. The cruise to Alaska was very good but the ship was a bit too small to offer enough on-board activities. it will always be a good idea to check the average weather situation for any of the ports of call. We learned after the event, that one visited port was referred to as the 'rain capital of Alaska' (for read more good reason).

The land based part of the trip saw large portions of each day devoted to sitting in the coach. There will never be enough time for multiple excursions when the coach arrives in town at, say, 4 pm with departure the next day at 8 am (some days were earlier). There were a couple of very poor hotels with sub standard rooms.

I would recommend to all who would want to see beautiful scenery, experience the two great states of Canada and Alaska. There could have been some slight improvements eg. breakfasts offered. Another day around Jasper & the Rockies. More access/options with coach /guides on free time to see more. What a magnificent experience.

I had an amazing time. The tour director and coach driver were excellent. Really enjoyed this holiday. This was my second trip with Cosmos and both trips have been more than expected. Madeline at Global Journeys has been wonderful to me. I am not good with computers and she helped me out. Just checking out next years holiday! I'm sure it will be as great as the last two.

I would travel with Cosmos and book with Global Journeys again. We travelled at the right time of year, the weather was absolutely great, which made the scenery more spectacular with the snow capped mountains all the way. The Glacier Passage was the highlight for me. We had an excellent Tour Director, who was very caring, knowledgeable, cheerful and read more helpful. We had a lovely crowd, and everyone got on with each other all the way. We were lucky to see a Black Bear and her 2 cubs crossing the road in front of our coach. A couple of coyotes at the side of the road, and a couple of whales out at sea. All in all a very enjoyable trip of a lifetime.

Jennifer our Cosmos tour guide was excellent so was our coach driver Jeff. 51 people on the coach & no one was late ever. Float plane & Peak to Peak in Whistler was Magic. Maligne Lake & Spirit Island was very read more picturesque. Optional tour not to miss. Due to our hotel in Banff having a fire early in year we had 3 one nights in a row. Cosmos gave us a free dinner. What a great night it was. We went to a ranch had a BBQ, hay ride, country music & line dancing. Disappointed in cruise. Ports were full of shops & cruise ships. Glacier Bay was magic the best part of the cruise. Overall value for money yes. Beautiful photos of snow cap mountains & waterfalls for memories. Would I book with Global Journeys again. Yes Yes.

Great tour especially through the Rockies - awesome views, great weather, great tour director and coach driver. Special thanks to Cosmos for extra-free visit to Boundary Ranch with free B.B.Q dinner. Inside passage on Holland America was awesome-especially the Glaciers in Glacier Bay. Ship Vollandam considered a bit second hand but entertainment was good and food great. Consider that service fee requested was far too steep and would question if Holland America distributed total evenly to all employees. However, the sea tour overall was great. Thanks Jemma for your input which we consider was very helpful.

This tour was by coach from Vancouver all the way through the Rockies and back. We believe we saw more of the interesting countryside & smaller towns between Vancouver & Banff, with stops for morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea than if we had travelled by the Rocky Mountaineer train. The scenery through the mountains was beautiful. Lake Louise & Maligne read more Lake were still frozen over due to Spring being colder this year.

Our hotels were generally very good, only let down by the Sandman Hotel Vancouver and Marmot Hotel Jasper. Although no breakfasts were included originally in this tour, a complimentary breakfast was included for the 2 days we were at the Listel Hotel Whistler, which was a nice surprise.

Our tour director Sandra provided useful information on the major towns and their attractions we stopped at. We would have liked to have had more information about the history of the smaller towns, their people and what they do to make a living in some of these isolated areas. The coach used during the whole trip was brand new and our driver JP was excellent.

Our cruise to Alaska was on the Holland America Lines MS Volendam. Our cabin attendants were very friendly and efficient. Meals at dinner were interesting some nights, as the servings for starters or mains were quite small, although you could ask for seconds. The entertainment provided on the ship was ok. Disembarkation from the ship was well organised and went smoothly for us. Thank you to Madeline at Global Journeys for all her assistance with our booking and questions we asked prior to our departure.

This is our second time booking Cosmos tours through Global Journeys. Though we were not given the booking reference for the cruise before flying to Vancouver, however, our consultant Hannah was very helpful and immediately sent us the reference upon our request during the land tour so that we could do the online check-in and got our boarding passes read more on time. We were very happy with itinerary as well as accommodation. Scenery was breathtaking. Our tour guide Sibylle was very knowledgeable about the area, history, best places to look at, local stories, etc., that made our experience unforgettable. Our driver John was an experienced coach driver and also very pleasant and courteous. Will definitely book Cosmos through Global Journeys again in future.

We had a very good experience booking our trip on line with Global Journeys. Hannah our consultant answered all our queries promptly and reminded me of a few things like getting an eta for USA. Our bus tour was everything and more than we expected. Choosing late May to travel was a good time as we saw 6 bears and 2 grizzlies and many other wild life.We read more really enjoyed the short Ice explorer journey to the Columbia Icefield and later the gondola trip at Whistler. It was the last day the snow lifts were operating for the season and with recent snow overnight it was a lot of fun. The most memorable part of the cruise was Glacier Bay. Our cruise ship the MS Volendam slowly glided over the water to the glacier as the passengers stood silently in awe of the huge glacier and listened to the almighty crack as pieces broke off and fell into to water.

Great tour for us. Excellent guide. Enjoyed the time to 'do your own thing' if wanted, also not being locked into dinning options was good. Highly recommended for anyone not wishing for every last detail to be arranged. Tour was hard to fault!

Most of the accommodation was great but hotel at Vancouver and Jasper were ordinary. The tour guide was knowledgeable but spent more time on selling paid excursions. We have travelled with Cosmos earlier but this time there was too much emphasis on selling paid excursions. Our experience with Global journeys was great!
