Southern Italy Surprises   1 , VIC, Australia, Sep 2019
In reality 2 tours with 2 different tour coaches and directors. First observation is that September is now pretty much part of high season, so perhaps these days the slowdown really starts towards the end of September. Tour 1 was Rome and Amalfi Coast area. Hotel in Rome not great but close to Villa Borghese museum (100% must see) and bus lines to ...read more take you to the heart of Rome. Optional excursion to Tivoli Gardens a must do. Sorrento and Amalfi Coast are tourist ghettos but still worth seeing once. Hotel in Sorrento OK. Anacapri and Isle of Capri lovely and hotel was great. First tour director not really that helpful.

Tour 2 was the Sicily extension - a really good tour. Sicily is unspoilt and shows a more traditional part of Italy with lovely scenery. Second Tour Director and the hotels were good. The optional Sicilian restaurant nights were good fun. We jumped off the tour after the Naples guided walk and spent 4 days in Naples. An incredible city, great fun, so much grand history and energy . Don't believe any bad press about Naples, no worse than any other big city, we could have spent a week in Naples.
A busy but really interesting tour especially the Amalfi Coast and Sicily   1 , NSW, Australia, May 2019
This was a tour of contrasts - the wonderful history and culture of Rome and the amazing scenery of the Amalfi Coast and Sicily. The tour split at Sorrento when some people returned to Rome with the original tour director and more people joined us with a new tour director. We would have preferred to keep one group constant for the whole tour.

Hotel ...read more accommodation was very good, a standout being the Hotel San Michele at Anacapri, where we had a magnificent position overlooking the sea, and the whole island of Capri was breathtaking. Sicily was so beautiful! We enjoyed the overnight ferry crossing from Palermo to Naples, the hilltown of Erice was charming and such fun to ride up in a cablecar, and Taormina was very pretty, the Roman villa at Piazza Armerina and the Greek temples were stupendous.

We had quite a bit of rainy weather but we still managed to enjoy all the sights! The drive around the Amalfi Coast was stunning. Well done to Cosmos for an enjoyable tour! And Georgie at Global Journeys made our bookings with efficiency and friendliness.
A great introduction to southern Italy 0 , NSW, Australia, Sep 2018
Nicely paced tour - not hectic at all, plenty of time to do our own thing. A few hotels need improving but overall a great experience. Would've loved if Sicily was also included in this tour.
Southern Italy and Sicily 4 , NSW, Australia, Sep 2018
The tour was divided into two sections with a different tour director for both tours. The first tour of Rome, Capri and Naples was relaxing with more than one night in each location. The highlight was the two nights on the Island of Capri. The second tour of Sicily flowed seamlessly on from the first tour. This tour covered more territory with shorter ...read more stays in each location. A highlight was the visit to the active volcano Mount Etna.
Great Tour with Some Fantastic Travellers 1 , WA, Australia, Apr 2017
Our experience with Global Journeys was excellent. Hannah kept us up to date with our booking and our paperwork arrived well before we departed which meant we could check it over and research optional tours. Cosmos was also very good and we were lucky enough to have a group of travellers that got on extremely well and we now have several contacts in ...read more the USA and Canada. The tour inclusions were excellent and well planned. A couple of the hotels were a little out of the way but that is to be expected with a budget tour operator. We would definitely use Global Journeys again and have already recommended them to friends.
Stress-free happy experience 1 , VIC, Australia, May 2015
Overall a good way to see the south of Italy without the stress of driving and finding so many places of interest on your own. We saw some great places and met great people. At times a bit rushed with some overnight stays but a fun happy experience.
A great tour, well organised and ran to schedule 0 , Australia, May 2014
We had a lovely tour guide Anna Lisa who went above and beyond to ensure any special request or issue was resolved. She had tremendous knowledge of the area demonstrated passion for her country that was infectious. On whole accommodation was good, though a number of hotels did not have air con or it was not working and most hotels had wifi. The bus ...read more was brand new and very comfortable. We packed a lot in and some days were very long and exhausting, but very worthwhile. Highlights of the trip for me were Capri, Sorrento and Taormina as well as the wonderful people I met. The optional dinners were fabulous and certainly memorable! Some of the optional excursions were excellent ie Tivoli, Palermo sighseeing whilst others were overpriced ie Capri & Catacombs. On the whole it was a great tour, well organised, ran to schedule and enabled participants just to relax and enjoy!
The tour on the whole was excellent 0 , Australia, Aug 2012
The Tour guide, JP (GianPaulo), was fantastic, he worked really hard to ensure everyone had a great time. We were lucky, the group on the tour were very friendly and easy going. Mostly the accommodation was good. Accommodation in Sicily was questionable, especially at Syracuse and again at Raggiomanio (sorry, may have the spelling wrong). While everyone ...read more enjoys seeing ruins and ancient sites, perhaps it should be looked into at visiting say farming communities or fishing villages. Most of the tour believed also that the optional excursion for the last afternoon in Palermo, should not be optional, but included. We caught a ferry that evening from Palermo to Naples. For those who did not take the tour, they did not have a room to return too and had to wait in the lobby area of the hotel - most of the day. Also, the ferry from Naples was incredibly noisy. Again, most of the tour believe that in a way we were ripped off for a day by the trip from Naples to Rome. This day was taken up by getting off a ferry, an awful breakfast at a cafe at the port, then bus to airport, drop people off and wait for people from another tour to join us to be transferred back to Rome, plus waiting for the bus. This was called a 'tour day' but really was a wasted day and could be better planned by Cosmos and Globus. Likewise for the first day in Rome, the hotel is a long way from the centre of Rome, there is a Metro, but we are restricted by a tour meeting. That hotel, the staff were not welcoming nor helpful and it was noisy. However, some negatives aside, we had a wonderful tour, and enjoyed it. It was not fast paced which was great, there was ample free time, and we loved having porter service for our luggage. And as I have said above, the Tour guide and bus drivers were fantastic!
Tour was wonderful, met some great people 0 , Australia, Aug 2012
The tour was a lot of fun. Our guide JP was brilliant, coped very well and made everyone feel very comfortable. At times the pre-organised meals were awful - just because we are in Italy does not mean we want pasta all the time. Plus some of the pre-organised restaurants were not very good. Accommodation was basically good, however, in Sicily, some ...read more of the hotels were pretty bad and in areas that had nothing to offer. I think this is because of the sites that we were taken too, all good sites with lots of history but in places that really do not have much else. The organisers of the tours need to realise that people do not want to see ruins all the time, visits to local farming communities and also to fishing communities would be wonderful. having said the above, on the whole, the tour was wonderful, met some great people and the porter service from the coach to the hotel and back to the coach was fantastic.
Tour pace was a bit busier than I expected 0 , Australia, Jul 2012
Tour pace was a bit busier than I expected, but to be fair, many of the activities were optional. But it was a busy pace for 'leisurely'. Very enjoyable, accommodation very good. Meals were generally far bigger portion sizes than anyone could eat - seemed a bit wasteful sometimes because of that. Share option worked well for me. Rooms were plenty big ...read more enough.
A very relaxing tour stopping in spectacular places 0 , Australia, May 2012
Our tour was of the Amalfi coast and Capri. We absolutely loved the tour and we loved the tour director Savio.
