Oysters in the Adriatic

Whether you’re a seasoned traveller or a first-timer – there are so many incredible experiences to be had all around the world. Travel isn’t just about going to incredible destinations; more and more travellers are seeking authentic local connections and that’s through incredible experiences! Insight Vacations have rounded up some of the best experiences you might not know were even possible!

Spain - Learn the Art of Flamenco

Insight Vacations partners with the Cristina Hereen Foundation in Seville, a private flamenco school and beneficiary of the TreadRight Foundation, that provides scholarships to deserving students.  This support helps to ensure that the flamenco tradition lives on in the local community and continues to create opportunities for generations to come. Travellers participate in a private dance class during the 9 day Highlights of Spain itinerary and enjoy front row seats to watch a fiery flamenco performance.

England - Devonshire Tea with the Lady of the Manor

The quintessentially British ritual of taking afternoon tea dates back to the early 1840s. Consisting of finger sandwiches, cakes and scones with cream and jam, Insight Vacations guests enjoy this experience with the Lady of the Manor, Caroline Huyshe at her ancestral home in Devonshire on the 11 day Country Roads of Wales, Devon and Cornwall itinerary. Hear some of her family stories over a delicious afternoon tea.

France - Play the Treasured Tradition of Petanque

Long before the Eiffel Tower triumphed as Paris’ iconic monument, France took delight in its unique pastime, pétanque! A traditional ball game that fosters a sense of community, Insight guests on the Country Roads of France itinerary learn to play the game with a Local Expert in a Provençal village near Pont du Gard.

Norway - Meet a Dog-sled Champion

On the 20 day Grand Scandinavia itinerary, Insight guests have the opportunity to meet champion dog-sled racer and breeder, Trine Lyrek and her huskies. They have an intimate session with her over a barbecue, listening to her stories of Arctic events. Trine talks about the challenges she and the dogs face during their marathon Arctic dog-sled races. Guests even have a chance to play with the gorgeous pups!

Great Britain - Visit Ardgowan Estate

Travellers can meet Sir Ludovic Shaw-Stewart, a genuine Scottish Baronet at his Ardgowan Estate which consists of 10,000 acres and a castle. On the 11-day Elegance of Great Britain itinerary, guests are invited for tea with the owner in the formal Drawing Room where he shares stories of the estate, which has been in his family for over 600 years.

Croatia - Meet an Oyster Farmer

Famous for having the best oysters in the world, Insight guests join Tomislav, an oyster farmer from Ston, whose family have farmed oysters for generations on the Country Roads of Croatia itinerary. Travellers join him on his fishing boat to sail out to the barges from which he tends his floating oyster beds as he pulls nets of oysters from the Adriatic. Guests can enjoy the fresh oysters right there on his barge!
