Insider Experience: Pay a visit to Australia Zoo. Made famous by the late Crocodile Hunter, Steve Irwin, you'll get to see everything from crocodiles to tigers and Australian wildlife.

Today, you'll head north to Hervey Bay and enjoy a ferry crossing to World Heritage-listed K'gari (Fraser Island). Spend the afternoon enjoying your spectacular resort before tonight's dinner. Stay Two Nights: K'gari (Fraser Island), Kingfisher Bay Resort (B/D)

Today you'll discover the world's largest sand island with a half-day guided tour. Bounce along sandy tracks through lush rainforest and explore sparkling freshwater lakes. Then, with an afternoon at leisure, perhaps visit the historic wreck of the Maheno – a Trans-Tasman liner that was driven ashore during a cyclone in 1932. Alternatively, make the most of the island's many walking tracks, or simply relax on a peaceful stretch of white sand with a good book. (B)

Take the ferry back to Hervey Bay, then continue your journey north to Rockhampton. Known as the beef capital of Australia, more than 2.5 million head of cattle are farmed within a 250km radius of the city. Wide streets and fine Victorian architecture reflect the region's wealthy 19th-century gold and copper mining boom, as well as the successful cattle industry. Enjoy a casual dinner with your group this evening. Stay: Rockhampton, The Regent Hotel (B/D)

Spend the morning soaking up the laidback vibe in Rockhampton. Travel to Airlie Beach where you'll board a ferry for your journey through the Whitsunday Islands, arriving at the picturesque island resort of Hamilton Island. Stay Two Nights: Hamilton Island, Reef View Hotel (B/D)

Insider Experience: In the heart of the Great Barrier Reef, Hamilton Island is one of the only inhabited islands in the Whitsundays and it's certainly one of the most spectacular. You have two nights here to lap up this spectacular tropical setting.

Enjoy a whole day to yourself on Hamilton Island. Wade into the water and snorkel right off the beach and discover the region's many species of tropical fish. Or pick a quiet patch of sand for a day of relaxation. You might even choose to venture further afield on a cruise to Whitehaven Beach (additional expense). (B)

Board your return ferry transfer from Hamilton Island to the port of Airlie. Then re-join your coach and travel to Townsville. Enjoy a tour of the tropical city, surrounded by rainforest and the Great Barrier Reef, then continue onwards to beautiful Mission Beach. It's hard to beat the location of your resort, just steps from the sand. Sit back, relax and take in your stunning surrounds over dinner this evening. Stay: Mission Beach, Mission Beach Resort (B/D)

Rolling green hills, open farmland and tropical rainforest characterise the Atherton Tablelands, which form part of the Great Dividing Range. Surrounded by rainforest, experience the peaceful oasis of Millaa Millaa Falls before joining an Insider Experience. Arrive in Cairns later in the day. Insider Experience: Ride over the rainforest aboard the Kuranda Skyrail Rainforest Cableway to Caravonica Lakes.

After your magical Insider Experience, enjoy a relaxing evening in beautiful Cairns, Far North Queensland's tropical paradise known for its laid-back lifestyle, markets, beaches and outdoor life, and a drawcard for travellers from across the world for decades. Savour a special Farewell Dinner this evening. (B/L/D)

Insider Experience: Experience the colourful coral and marine life at Moore Reef, where you will have the option to snorkel or perhaps stay dry as you view the reef from a semi-submersible vessel. Visit a unique underwater viewing platform and observatory to watch the fish feeding. You may also like to take a scenic helicopter flight over the reef or an exciting diving experience (additional expense).

Spend your final morning exploring the sights of Cairns, then take a guided tour of beautiful Port Douglas before your journey comes to an end back in Cairns. (B)
