Today you'll travel to one of the largest cities in Switzerland, Basel. Then start the picturesque ascent through the Swiss Alps to glamorous St Moritz, nestled in the Upper Engadine Valley. This elegant and exclusive resort town is continuously frequented by royalty.

Make your ascent aboard the Gornergrat Mountain Railway today. Opened in 1898, it is the highest open-air cog-wheel railway in Europe. The train climbs to the 3,000-metre-high summit of the Gornergrat and offers spectacular views of the Matterhorn. On a clear day here, you can count 29 snowy peaks. After spending some time at the summit to relish the views over the Gorner Glacier, the second largest glacier in the Alps, descend and enjoy a guided tour of Zermatt. This charming, eco- friendly town is a car-free zone, with timbered buildings and a beautiful English church. (B)
Today travel by cable car up to the highest cable car station in Europe. The snow-covered alpine wonderland at Matterhorn Glacier Paradise provides monumental views of the famous peak, and the enchanting ice palace - the highest of its kind in the world. The experience is further enhanced as you are lowered by a lift 15-metres inside the glacier, where you are greeted by remarkable sculptures crafted from the perpetual ice that surrounds you, adding a decorative touch to a surreal landscape.
