Itinerary

Your driver meets you at Hobart airport and transfers you to your hotel. Later, travel to New Norfolk following the River Derwent to the Agrarian Kitchen Eatery for your tasty three-course lunch. The restaurant is housed in the town’s historic, former asylum offering vast spaces, large windows and high ceilings and it has become a celebration of local, seasonal produce. Farmers and fishermen provide the high-quality ingredients, the kitchen works its magic, and these, combined with friendly local service create a beautiful and unique dining experience.

Next, explore the Hobart area with Insight Choice. Visit the Derwent Estate and sample their signature wines at the historic Limestone cottage cellar door. Alternatively, visit the iconic Museum of New and Old Art, a privately funded collection by David Walsh. Take your time wandering among the unusual exhibits, hear an overview of the various artworks and catch a ferry back to Hobart at your leisure. Tonight enjoy a scrumptious three-course dinner in one of the city’s favourite restaurants. (L/DW) Stay: Grand Chancellor Hotel Hobart.

This morning after breakfast, meet your Travel Director in the foyer before heading across to the historic Hobart Docks to begin your gourmet day tour of Bruny Island. Today you’ll take in spectacular landscapes, walk upon deserted beaches and taste delicious local produce from across the island. Enjoy a delicious lunch with local wine, beer or cider at Pennicott’s beachside restaurant with sweeping views of Adventure Bay, meet the producers and farmers across the island as you hear their stories and try cheeses, freshly shucked oysters, handmade fudge, honey, wine and more!

Make Travel Matter as your Pennicott Wilderness guide will discuss the many important conservation projects that are taking place on the island to ensure this natural environment remains as pristine in years to come as it does today. This afternoon, you’ll make your way back to Hobart for a free evening at leisure for you to explore. (B/L)

Enjoy an orientation tour of Hobart and see the historic Cascade Brewery, admire the city panorama from Mt Nelson and stroll around the quaint streets of Battery Point. Cross the River Derwent and travel through valleys and past the Rocky Hills to Boomer Creek Vineyard for a local wine tasting. It’s then onto Craigie Knowe Winery, the East Coast's oldest winery. This family run enterprise continues the vision of founder John Austwick, who planted the first vines in 1979. Sample their wines and enjoy lunch before setting off to your hotel, Freycinet Lodge in the heart of Freycinet National Park.

This afternoon you may like to take the 90-minute round trip hike up to the lookout to view the stunning Wineglass Bay, or for those looking for a lighter activity, why not take a leisurely walk around Cape Tourville Lighthouse? Alternatively you may just prefer to enjoy the resort with a stroll along the beach in front of the hotel, or just relax with a wine on the balcony before your BBQ dinner this evening which you will enjoy whilst watching the sun set over magnificent Coles Bay. (B/L/D) Stay: Freycinet Lodge.

Feel the white sand between your toes as you explore one of the most pristine environments on earth. Head inland past forest reserves and farmlands to riverside Launceston, one of Australia's oldest cities with many Victorian and Georgian buildings. Take a tour of their convict-built stables and distillery to learn how these spirits are made. Return to Hobart and come together for a Celebration Dinner. (B/D) Stay: Grand Chancellor Hotel Hobart.
