This morning, drive to the desert town of Mandawa in the Shekhawati region. Established as a trading hub along ancient caravan routes, Mandawa is dotted with havelis (traditional houses) which often featured lavish courtyards that once belonged to traders who made their fortunes here. This afternoon, head out on walking tour to view the beautifully frescoed havelis and the old town.

  • Mandawa Old Town Walking Tour: Set out on a walking tour of Mandawa, known today as Rajasthan's "open air art gallery". Admire the beautifully frescoed havelis, or traditional townhouses, which once housed wealthy traders and their families. Soak in the sights of a vibrant city on the crossroads of ancient caravan routes.

Settle in for the morning drive to Jodhpur, called the “Blue City” for the many houses painted that colour. Stark desert landscapes meet a riot of palaces, forts, and temples, all enclosed within imposing city walls. Six enormous gates provide entry to the city centre and overlooking it all stands the imposing shadow of Meherangarh Fort. In the afternoon take an orientation walk of the old walled city and view the the clock tower. Continue on to bustling Sadar Bazaar, one of the oldest markets in India.

  • Mehrangarh Fort Visit: Visit this breathtakingly beautiful fort located at the top of a cliff, which offers a stunning view of the Blue City of Jodhpur below. Learn about the many battles fought there and get a sense of what it was like to be Rajasthani royalty by visiting its well-stocked museum.

Journey southeast with the option to visit the beautiful Ranakpur Temples. Continue to Udaipur, famous worldwide for its plethora of breathtaking lakes and Raj-era palaces. Get to know the old city on an orientation walk, then opt to enjoy a Rajasthani cultural show at the Bagore-ki-Haveli Folk Museum on Gangaur Ghat.

  • Bagore-ki-Haveli Cultural Show: A haveli is a private mansion and this particular one has been converted into a folk museum, displaying costumes and modern art. Enjoy a full free day to explore this Royal city. Opt to visit the Jagdish Temple which pays homage to Vishnu, the Hindu god of preservation, or the stunning City Palace and Museum, followed by a boat ride on Pichola Lake or a cooking class to "spice up" your culinary skills.

  • City Palace Visit: Visit Rajasthan's largest palace to get a sense of how royalty lived. Take in the view from one of its many intricately-decorated balconies, with one side facing the stunning Lake Palace.

Enjoy another full free day. Opt to enjoy the early morning serenity of Udaipur cycling along the city's picturesque lakes as the sun rises. Then choose to take a Rajasthani cooking class and enjoy your creations for lunch. Or, continue exploring forts and palaces–the options are endless.

  • Udaipur Sunrise Cycle Tour: Discover the early morning serenity of Udaipur with a ride along the city's picturesque lakes as the sun rises. Embark in the village of Kalarohu, travelling towards Fateh Sagar Lake to observe the lake's three islands as the birds flock to the tranquil waters. Cycle past agricultural workers in action in the lush farming communities of Badi and Hawala before making a loop around the hilltop palatial residence, Monsoon Palace. Travel on through more villages to reach Tiger Lake, this morning's setting for a picnic breakfast. The tour offers ample opportunities for photographs and to learn more about Indian history so don't forget your camera! The journey concludes with a downhill ride towards our finishing point.

Today drive to Pushkar. Travel over Snake Mountain to the holy city of Pushkar, a place so sacred that no meat, alcohol, or eggs are allowed within the city. Take an orientation walk and visit the 14th century Brahma Temple–the world’s only temple dedicated to the Hindu god of creation.

This evening, opt for a traditional dinner with entertainment in the desert.

Drive to the desert village of Tordi Garh and step back in time and stay the night in a restored heritage property. Later, opt for a camel cart ride, or jeep ride into the countryside for sunset.

A visit to Jaipur wouldn't be complete without catching an optional Bollywood film in the spectacular Art Deco film house — the Raj Mandir Cinema.

From high in the sky, you may float over rolling hills, villages teeming with life, and a small monastery. You may even spot elephants—if luck is on your side. Available September 1 - April 30.
  • Jantar Mantar Visit: Visit the Jantar Mantar observatory for a guided tour and explore the collection of astronomical instruments housed there, some dating back to 1727.
  • Jaipur Cycle Tour: With its many lanes and organized layout, Jaipur is the perfect location to explore by bicycle. Choosing to cycle through the city on this morning tour will introduce you to sights, sounds and smells that a vehicle just can't match, so grab a helmet and jump on your bike! Navigate the streets of the 'Pink City' with the help of your experienced guide, starting the day with a traditional Indian yoghurt drink of Lassi. Marvel at the architectural wonders as you enter the walled part of the city and stop at the City Palace to visit the Govind Dev temple. Wander through the historical spices and sweets market, stopping for tea and a tasty snack of pakoras before heading towards the majestic Albert Hall Museum where the tour ends. Taxi transfers from the hotel to the starting point and from the finishing point back to the hotel are included in the price of this cycle tour.
