What our clients are saying about their journeys down the Nile
This tour is a great way to see the wonders of ancient Egypt. The Valley of the Kings excursion was a highlight for us, plus the (optional but worth the $$$) trip to Abu SImbel. Cairo and its traffic are chaotic but the Marriott was an excellent respite. Internal flights were OK, but the security setup at airports can be challenging so make sure you read more allow lots of time before departure. Georgie and GJ were very helpful prior to our journey.
Amazing, magical, memorable and…just book it - Bunnik Tours, Egyptian Discovery! Egyptian DiscoveryNeil and Patricia, QLD, Australia, Oct 2024
We enjoyed every nanosecond of our tour from the moment we were met by Saeed at the airport until he saw us off again after a most memorable tour. Bassem (our guide, very approachable and a knowledgeable Egyptologist) also deserves a special mention for making our tour exceptional.
To choose a highlight is near impossible as the whole tour was probably read more one of, if not the best that we’ve ever done. (We’ve visited close to 60 countries over the past ten years). The Nile River Cruise, Dendera Temple Complex, Tombs of the Nobles and the Hot Air Balloon at Sunrise over the Valley of the Kings are noteworthy though and none of the Optional Excursions should be missed!
We were lucky enough that the new Great Egyptian Museum (GEM) opened during our tour and as a special gesture Bassem took us there on the last day of our tour - so special to be able to experience a visit to the largest museum of its kind in the world - thanks Bunnik Tours!
Our accommodation was very conveniently located and well appointed. Staying in the Four Seasons at Alexandria, Steigenberger Nile Palace at Luxor and Mövenpick Resort at Aswan was a real treat!
We added an extra day before and after the tour and it was so worth it – we were able to do an unforgettable privately booked Sunset Camel ride at the Giza Pyramids (what a magical start to our time spent in Egypt) and some other wonderful tours in Cairo with which Saeed very ably assisted.
Only Egypt offers the opportunity to cruise and sail on the Nile, the longest river in the world; visit GEM, the largest museum of its kind on the planet; enter the Step Pyramid of Djoser in Saqqara, the earliest known large-scale cut stone construction (built around 2650 BC) and touch the only surviving structure from the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World - the Great Pyramid of Giza.
And lastly – thanks Hannah Campbell and Global Journeys (since 2017 we’ve booked 10 tours with great prices quoted) for your promptness and once again fine-tuning our journey by handling extra accommodation, special requirements etc and in the past dealing with unforeseen cancellations and changes due to the Covid Pandemic. We are looking forward to our next Bunnik Tour to Sri Lanka, coming up very soon!
A great adventure for in depth ancient history buffs of Jordan and Egypt.
The tour guides were locals, confident, experienced, very knowledgeable, friendly, helpful and well organised, always conscious of our safety and well being. They told us what pitfalls to be aware of when shopping and touring. However, often, there was information overload, read more leaving insufficient time for exploring, which was quite disappointing, especially, for many, this was a bucket list destination.
The tour in Jordan was enjoyable with its varied activities. However, that in Egypt was heavily concentrated on rushing to visit as many tombs as possible, so we soon became “tombed”out. A more leisurely pace with time to enjoy some of the beautiful hotels on the Nile and an exploration of modern Egypt would have created a more enjoyable experience.
The accommodation was a mixture of very modern exclusive hotels, some bygone ones in the process of being renovated and one unwelcoming, very basic, old Wadi Rum “glamp”. Thank goodness for the lovely, modern Movenpick cruise boat which softened the blow, with its wonderful crew and experienced chefs!
The variety of foods was an experience, a mixture of delicious to wanting, as in Wadi Rum where you couldn’t even have toast! Often, dishes were comparatively very salty and heavily spiced, just how the locals like it?
The Bunnik tour was pricey for such inconsistent accommodation and food options but we felt very safe, well looked after and happy to be with a small group of lovely easy going Aussie fellow travellers. You will have fun, if you are willing to go with the flow.
To stay well, don’t eat the salad, even in five star hotels, or use ice and always use bottled water, even for brushing your teeth! This was made easy with Bunnik providing an endless supply of complimentary bottled, water!
Lastly, I must commend Global Journeys and Bunnik for their professional and dedicated staff, who are always happy to answer our questions and concerns.
Insight Vacations through Spring Tours provided a memorable 12 day, small group, Splendours of Egypt tour that included 7 days cruising on the Nile in a boat with a capacity of 120 passengers. While the MS Nile Odessa is a bit dated the river cruising experience was enjoyable, noting it is the Egyptian civilisation sites that were our primary reason read more for travelling to Luxor and Aswan. While a day trip to Abu Simbel (from Aswan) was an option extra - we highly recommend it - the Abu Simbel site will blow your mind - Ramses the Great (Ramses II) had a taste for grandeur. Our Tour Director was exceptional, which makes a huge difference to one’s experience. The pace of the tour was excellent - nay faster and it would have been less enjoyable and unable to spend sufficient time each site to appreciate them for what they are - marvels. Finally thank you the Hannah and the team at Global Journeys.
This was a very well planned and executed trip, allowing us to experience a great array of both monuments and everyday Egyptian life. I particularly enjoyed being able to cruise the Nile and experience the changing panorama of landscape, village life and the abundant bird and animal life. My accommodation was fine, although some others in the group read more Sid they had encountered some problems. The ubiquitous presence of insistent hawkers and vendors everywhere was definitely intrusive and unwelcome….this was the only downside for me. The tour guide was a qualified Egyptologist and provided us with fantastic background and information about every place we visited, which made the whole tour that much more enjoyable. If you enjoy history and the natural world this is a great experience…sorry should add, and enjoy very hot weather!! 🥵
Amazing tour through Egypt Splendours of EgyptGreg and Katrina, NSW, Australia, Sep 2023
Egypt was breathtaking and Insight only made it better. Our guide, Wael (an Egyptologist) was engaging and a joy to listen to. The earpieces we used were not the cheap ones and we never lost connection. I loved everything about our trip from being met at Cairo airport and being escorted through the airport to the drivers, all the staff on our ship sailing read more the Nile, our magnificent tour guide, Wael, who stayed with us the entire trip, the accommodation at Marriot Cairo ( an experience in itself) and of course the temples and pyramids of this incredible country. Highly recommend.
