We have done this trip previously, although in April. This time we went in November. Although the autumn colours were beautiful it was very cold most days (around 5 degrees during the day). As this was the last trip of the season we found many of the freedom of choice activities were limited and in many cases were only limited to a city walk. We were ...read more really looking forward to riding the e-bikes on a couple of occasions but were told once we boarded that they stop that by the end of October. Very disappointed! We did find we were sitting around a lot on the ship and once we did stop at each port we were time limited. Maybe more day-time activities whilst on board too would have been better. On the whole we enjoyed our time away and couldn't fault the food and staff and their attention to detail.

Yes we would happily book our next holiday with Global Journeys, Hannah was so easy to work with and got us a great deal with APT. Great job APT and Global Journeys, a great team, thanks.

We couldn't believe that after booking twice we were going to finally make this journey on our third attempt!
We joined MS Amaverde in Amsterdam. Our cabin was very comfortable and the staff kept it clean and tidy each day. Always obliging and pleasant. MS Amaverde was run like a five star hotel. The food was of a high standard and nobody could have been hungry. There was so much choice.

The excursions were excellent and we visited places we could not have gone to on our own. The very essence of Europe is amazing. The guides were friendly and knowledgeable, with humour and good nature. The unexpected on this trip amazed us. From dinners and music in Castles to silver service lunch on a train. It was all excellent and we were blessed with fine weather. To see the history of Europe this is a must and APT made it easy for us. Yvonne Brooks of Global Journeys did an excellent job of booking our holiday and making sure everything was personalised for us. We have done two trips with APT now and are looking at what we will do next. We have already recommended this trip to our friends.

Our first river cruise was the best ever. We were pampered all the time, the staff were fantastic, nothing was too much to do. Seeing all the places I had read about was unbelievable, the people were so friendly & helpful, when we were lost or just wanted help. We would recommend this trip to anyone.

Promoted as "5 Star" with 5 star price. The overall service was good & reasonably well organised. The food was lacking in variety & flavour. RSL Buffet quality at best (all you can eat ice cream does not make it 5 star).

We travelled over the Easter Period where many towns had closed for holidays. This is totally understandable...what was disappointing was the total lack of any planned alternatives considering these holidays happen every year and would not come as a surprise.

From the first day to the last day, much of the information in the brochure was misleading at best or just untrue. If you are expecting "5 Star" you will be disappointed. If you accept it will be a nice cruise with average facilities & food.....that's the best you can hope for regardless of the huge amount of money out laid.

Firstly we would have no hesitation in booking again with Global Journeys (hello Madeline). They were very professional, pleasant and nothing was too much trouble. The trip went like clockwork.

If you really want to be looked after you will love this form of travel. We celebrated our 50th Wedding Anniversary on board which was incredible. Thanks again to all involved in make this River Cruise very memorable for us.

Absolutely fabulous cruise under the the direction of Daniela Obermeir on board AMA Reina & Venita, couldn't find a fault. One of the most magnificent holidays we have had, if not the best. Lots of laughs with wonderful food and organisation. Will certainly travel with APT again.

A wonderful relaxed way to see a little of beautiful Europe. Could not fault the ship or the staff - we were very pampered. We did have to change ships halfway through because of low water levels but this was managed with minimal disruption. Everything ran like clockwork and the APT special highlights - Namedy Castle, the Majestic Imperator train and the Vienna concert in Palais Liechtenstein were stunning. Would thoroughly recommend this trip to anyone who wants to see a few highlights of Europe but is put off by crowds, congestion etc. This is the way to do it!

Our cruise featured two major problems. A barge collision in the canal meant that we needed to change ships half way through the trip. There was also a health scare which unfortunately occurred on the night of our dinner and concert at Burg Namedy and brought the evening to a premature close. Obviously this entailed a lot of additional work, which was undertaken cheerfully, and the team-work required was clearly visible.

There were many highlights. Those which stood out for me were the train trip on the Majestic Imperateur, the evening concert at the Liechtenstein Palace in Vienna and the twilight cruise past the Budapest lights. All tour guides without exception were top quality, as were the shore excursions. I especially liked the "Freedom of Choice" nature of these, which meant that passengers could do as much or as little as they felt like. As a solo traveller I had no difficulty in making new friends aboard, and commend the attitude of my fellow travellers. I cannot end this review without a mention of the food and drink. I had expected both to be of very good quality and am happy to say that both exceeded my expectations. The two dinners at the Chef's Table were standouts.

Fantastic trip, enjoyed it thoroughly. A highlight was visiting Amsterdam, an easy city to walk around. The visit to Namedy Castle with evening meal was a definite highlight, as was meeting our host. Austria and its gorgeous cities of Salzburg, Vienna, and Melk are a must.

Usually we travel independently, organising all details ourselves, so going on a trip that was organised for us was a bit of a leap. The trip was faultless - the food was wonderful, the upgrade that Hannah secured for us was absolutely unbelievable - wonderful cabin with the chance to lay in bed and watch the world go by.

The staff were helpful ...read more and kind. We are used to doing things at our pace which is a lot faster than the tour guides but I understand that there were older people on board who would not be able to keep up a normal pace, but it was still a bit frustrating to shuffle around. We especially enjoyed the hikes. It was organised the best way it could possibly be done to cater for the diverse age groups and mobility of the passengers.

The tours were educational and the free time was appreciated. It was a wonderful experience, the passengers were a great group and we even got invited to the Captain's Table on the last night.

The APT Amsterdam to Budapest cruise on the AmaBella is expensive, but provides passengers with a wonderful experience of life along the Rhine, Maine and Danube Rivers. The meals and accommodation on board are probably equal to other river cruise ships, but APTs Signature Tours: dinner at Namedy Castle, rail trip to Salzburg on the Majestic Imperator ...read more and classical concert at the Palais Liechtenstein are what sets APT apart. The onboard staff were excellent, all shore excursions ran like clockwork, with informative and friendly guides. This trip should not be missed. It is truly a memorable experience.

Top marks. Fantastic trip. Everything included, drinks, transfers and port excursions made it a very relaxed and easy. No hassles - great staff and shipmates. Definitely a great holiday!

Overall a wonderful holiday. Amazing organisation by the Cruise Director and crew aboard - despite having to change ships half way through due to water levels on Danube River. Age level of guests was "up there", so probably not for those under 60. Would recommend this cruise to others. Our Global Journeys agent was very helpful and organised.

Touring through Eastern Europe was quite different to our previous trips in Western Europe. The countryside was just as beautiful but the towns and cities are very different. The recent history (WW2, communism, the civil wars) were thought provoking. The cruise ship and cabin were excellent. The staff were delightful. The cruise director, Florentin, was very professional and very interesting to get to know as we ended in Romania his home country. I cannot thank Jemma at Global Journeys enough for her help in organising such a great holiday.

The Captain and his crew looked after us extremely well and interacted with us all daily. There were no hidden costs and in fact, except for a few souvenirs that we bought, we didn't need to spend a cent extra on the entire trip! Strongly recommend this cruise with APT.

I never thought I would enjoy a river cruise after having done 3 ocean cruises, but I was wrong. APT gave us a holiday that could not be faulted.
