There was one optional experience - a meal out, this was expensive and very poor value - included a Greek salad padded with bread and poor quality wine out of cardboard casks.
A good pair of walking shoes is a must for this tour, given the many unpaved surfaces. Greece is very popular with tourists at present, but apart from some of the sites in Athens it did not feel overcrowded. Overall a great experience delving into the history of the Greek civilisation and adding modern Greece. Took a great photo from the top floor (pool floor) of the Athens hotel.
