Lots of opportunities for great pictures and fond memories 0 , QLD, Australia, Apr 2015
As I travel on my own, I was a bit nervous about going on an organized trip with people who I knew would be traveling mostly as couples. However, our trip was composed of the nicest people, from all over the place, a few Aussies, Kiwis, Canadians and Singaporeans. Our AAT Kings tour guide Carolyn's vast knowledge about Tasmania's rich history, geological ...read more features, economy was appreciated by us all, as was her professionalism and wicked sense of humour. Our driver Darren was also pleasant and professional at all times and kept his coach ship shape :) Our accommodation was tops and we all enjoyed great meals wherever we stopped. We also had lots of opportunities for great pictures and fond memories. A tour I would recommend for anyone wanting to discover the Apple Isle :)
It was a lovely trip 0 , NSW, Australia, Feb 2015
It was a lovely trip. The cruise on Macquarie Harbour to Sarah Island was very interesting and enjoyable. The Nut and Stanley were a picturesque surprise. I had not realised Tasmania had such large mountains in the west. The giant tree ferns on a forest walk were also a surprise. The driver and guide did their best to ensure we enjoyed ourselves. The ...read more hotel rooms at Port Arthur were a bit grotty but the food was good there. Overall the trip was very worthwhile and I would recommend it.
A complete success 6 , NSW, Australia, Jan 2015
The tour was a complete success starting from our first enquiry to our final day. All our questions were answered promptly by Hannah, allowing us to choose between several options. We are so pleased with the content of the tour. We saw a huge amount of Tasmania, and enough to ensure that we want to come back again. It gave us a taste of what Tasmania ...read more was all about. There was a great deal of variety in the tour, with the inclusions being interesting and informative. Even though the weather was not the best, our activities were such that it did not interfere too much with our program. Our tour guide, Kelly, was remarkable. She had unfailing good humour, nothing was too difficult for her to organise and her knowledge about Tasmania was amazing. What really impressed was that if she did not know an answer to a question, she had it next day for our travellers. She genuinely worked to make sure everyone enjoyed their tour. It was clear to us that this was her top priority and we appreciated it so much. Our coach driver Tom was top of his field. The coach was kept in an immaculate condition throughout the tour. Windows were always sparkling which allowed us to take photos while the bus was in transit. As mentioned, we had some bad weather, with driving rain at times. At no time did we feel unsafe as his driving ability on narrow and winding roads was exceptional. He was a pleasure to be around. He also made it his mission to see we all had a good time.

Our hotels, food and general organisation of the tour was great. We stayed in some wonderful hotels, ate food which was of great quality and enjoyed not having the responsibility of making decisions about where to go to next. Two visits need some comment. The Tasmanian Zoo was very good, but quite run down. While the staff there were informative and dedicated, the zoo is perhaps not presented as well as it could be. It's a catch 22. If no tours go there, they run short of funds, but if they do not lift the presentation of the enclosures etc, then they may well miss out on the tours. Don't know the answer to that one. The second comment concerns the optional boat trip at Launceston. While the captain's comments were interesting, and the boat was comfortable, they need to be more careful about keeping their windows clean. It was not good weather, so we needed the window blinds to be down, but they were so dirty we couldn't see much of the tour. It was too cold to be outside. Also the person who presented the wine tasting during the tour needs to be better trained to engage her audience, be more personable about the products she is presenting and at least be able to maintain eye contact with her audience. That said, the Bridestowe Lavender Farm, the Ashgrove Cheese factory, and Highfield House were standout inclusions in our touring program. We had plenty of time to enjoy these visits.

What we most enjoyed about this tour were the wonderful visits to world heritage National Parks. I have been on tours where you are taken to the middle of a town and left for a few hours to shop. Boring! This never happened with Tasmanian Wonders. Cruising down the Gordon River on Australia Day will be in my memory forever. What a way to spend Aussie Day! And what a lunch we were provided with. Our visits to all the National Parks showed us some fantastic places. Sadly the weather was awful for our visit to Port Arthur, but even so, Kelly and Tom really lifted our spirits and we still had a good time. The people who were our guides on these tours were excellent, knowledgeable and interested to show us the best of these beautiful places. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend AAT Kings tours to anyone. As I live in a retirement village, we have plenty of opportunity to discuss our travels, and I will be singing your praises whenever the subject arises. (Ed. Thanks Al & Sylvia - spread the word!)
Awesome cultural and historical tour with great sights 0 , Australia, Jan 2015
An awesome cultural and historical tour with great sights. The tour director shared with us lots of information about her home state. There were optional tours available if required. The crew were professional and friendly. Booking through Global Journeys was easy and efficient.
A great experience 0 , QLD, Australia, Dec 2014
First time I have been on an escorted coach trip and Carolyn, our coach Director was excellent, as was our driver Darren. Carolyn talked most of the time on the coach journey explaining everything to us and telling us stories of the past. We covered a lot of ground in those 10 days and although I personally would have liked to have spent longer at Cradle ...read more Mountain and done more walking I realise that there were 30/40 fellow travellers on board and this was a taster for future visits. The river cruise and visit to Sarah Island was a wonderful day out. I must say that AAT Kings certainly chose well the guides they use as part of the tour. Port Arthur and the Ghost Tour were interesting. Was travelling alone but we were a happy bunch of travellers. The only complaint was the pick up company who met the flight and did the transfer to the hotel. Arrived at Hobart at 16:45 and had to wait for another delayed flight until 18:30 before being transferred to the hotel. Me and Maree, a young Swiss visitor were not amused. Apart from that hiccup at the beginning had a great experience. Uluru next! Thank you Yvonne for managing to get me on this trip!
Tasmania is awesome 0 , Australia, Nov 2014
Both the Tour Director (James) and the Driver (Stuart) were excellent - accommodation was good and the food was good. People on the tour were lovely. Tasmania is awesome. The only negative is that I was emailed the Hotel List for Family and Friends too late as I was already on leave and wasn't able to access that email until after my return from the ...read more holiday - it would have been good to receive shortly after paying for the tour in full. Which was paid for way ahead of time before the tour commenced and even before the date AAT Kings required full payment by. I recommend that documentation be supplied shortly after receipt of full payment if there is sufficient time allowed before commencement of tour. (GJ. Doc are produced by AAT Kings and sent 2-3 weeks out from start date, irrespective of when you personally pay your balance. We then send them onto our clients immediately upon receipt. Glad you loved your tour, and Tassie though, its one of our favourite destinations too!)
A very well organised tour 0 , Australia, Oct 2014
A very well organised tour. Our tour director Caroline was excellent. She has vast experience and a great local knowledge of Tasmania, which made the trip very enjoyable and i learned a whole lot as this was my first visit to Tassie. I would highly recommend this tour for good value for money and a great tour of Tasmania.
Very happy with holiday 0 , Australia, Apr 2014
Very happy with holiday but would have liked a little more free time and not getting up so early of a morning. But overall these were minor complaints. Our guide Tony and driver Darren were the best and would have no problems in recommending them for higher honours.
Coach was comfortable and the river cruises were a real joy 0 , United Kingdom, Apr 2014
This was a great tour. First time in Tasmania and learned a lot from our excellent tour guide. Would have appreciated fewer one night stay overs. Some of the beds were very hard. All the hotels were clean and most of them had decent meals and service. Coach was comfortable and the river cruises were a real joy. Everyone was very friendly.
A thoroughly professional job 0 , United Kingdom, Mar 2014
From start to finish this was a thoroughly professional job. Georgie managed our enquiries and booking in an efficient, reassuring and speedy manner which was important as we were booking from the UK. The tour of Tasmania was excellent in terms of the guide, driver, itinerary and most of the accommodation. There were a few niggles: 1 we were allocated ...read more a room with a connecting door for 3 of the nights. This meant that we could hear and be heard by the adjacent room. 2 in Queenstown, the motel and the food were below the standard expected. We were locked out of the hotel before breakfast, having taken our bags to the coach in the rain, we understood that the dining room would be locked but we could at least have been allowed to wait in the bar or at Reception!
Lovely trip 0 , New Zealand, Mar 2014
Lovely trip. Good accommodation. Tour guides very experienced and helpful. Food too much but better than too little - have put on weight. Good overall experience to learn about Tasmanian history and industry etc. Even the weather was pretty good. One of the highlights of the tour. It was good to have that free time in an interesting area. Leave out the Swiss village. Good for a toilet stop. Transfers to the hotels and the airport were appreciated. Thanks a lot. Really good trip. Mark was a very competent driver and Greg was a load of fun.
Such a great experience 0 , Australia, Mar 2014
Rayand I thoroughly enjoyed the Tasmanian Wonders. It was an 'on-the-go' tour but we never heard any complaints from our fellow travellers who were mainly in the older group from several countries, although Australia and New Zealand did dominate the nationalities. Both Greg (the Tour Director) and Mark (the coach driver) both extremely professional ...read more made it an incredible experience that we enjoyed. There were lots of laughs and good banter amongst us while enjoying our meals at the hotels. We did enjoy the variety of stops and the scenery was so different to what we have here in Queensland. Fantastic trip for Ray and I and a big thank you Hannah for all your assistance in making it such a great experience.
One of the best we have done 0 , New Zealand, Mar 2014
Really enjoyed the tour. One of the best we have done. We were taken to places that we may have missed out on if we had undertaken the trip under our own steam. Will strongly recommend to everyone possible.
An excellent holiday, beyond our expectation 0 , United Kingdom, Mar 2014
We had an excellent holiday in Tasmania, much and beyond to our expectation. The tour was well planned for seeing places, scenary and travelling stops. The guide was very good with lots of humour and knowledge. We felt very safe with the coach driver, through out the journey. Will certainly be using Global J1ourneys for any future tours 2 , Australia, Mar 2014
Tasmanian Wonders tour with AAT Kings was great value for money. We normally go on premium tours but this was a low cost tour and the quality of the hotels and accommodation was great. We have used AAT Kings a number of times and this tour was up to their usual high standard. The local knowlege of our tour guide, Carolyn, was exceptional. This was our ...read more first experience with online booking and we will certainly be using Global Journeys (and tour consulant Kirby Graf) for any future tours - maybe Europe next year!
I shall be recommending this tour to my friends 0 , Australia, Feb 2014
We have just returned to Perth from a 10 day Wonder Tour of Tasmania. Our tour consultant, Kirby arranged everything very efficiently and we did not have to worry about a thing. The coach tour was with AAT Kings. To our driver John, who kept the coach in pristine condition both inside and out, we had the utmost faith in his driving ability. The first ...read more part of the tour up the west coast of the state was very windy and he looked after his passengers very well. To our Tour Guide, Tony, he was 1 in a million. His knowledge of the area was A1 and he kept us entertained with his stories of the past. He was very organised and the tour went very smoothly. As for the tour itself we saw a lot of Tasmania from the treacherous coastline, to the national parks and the convict days of Sarah Island and Port Arthur. Our accommodation was excellent and the meals were varied from A la carte to Buffet and well presented at all the locations. I shall be recommending this tour to my friends and ask them to use Kirby, at Global Journeys as their consultant.
Tour gave us the overview of Tasmania we were seeking 0 , New Zealand, Feb 2014
A bit too busy for older travelers, with so many early starts. Tour meals were excellent. We would have preferred less 'commercial' stops - e.g. bypass Swiss Village, Lavender Farm guide was too inexperienced to be informative. Optional evening Ghost Tour at Port Arthur was dreadful, not entertaining nor scary as promoted, not a skillful guide - a total ...read more waste of time and money! Including the Treetop Walk would be good. Excellent drivers, pleasant and helpful. Overall, the tour gave us the overview of Tasmania that we were seeking. Thanks for your help.
We enjoyed the tour very much and look forward to another 0 , Australia, Feb 2014
Hannah looked after us from Global Journeys and like before was always prompt, obliging and helpful. We enjoyed the tour very much and look forward to going somewhere in the world again soon. One other factor that made the tour special is the Coach Driver Tom, we felt completely at ease with him at the helm, such professionalism and just like the Tour ...read more Guide Robin very approachable, courteous and knowledgeable (Excellent). We had a lot of fun with the other guests on the Tour. One thing I would of loved to have happened was to have a group photograph. The name tag was a good idea and you could even have a first name list of everyone as well? Tasmania a very nice place with a pace to match, pity it wasn't green, it would have looked spectacular. I hope they get rain soon.
A great trip, would go back and visit again 0 , Australia, Feb 2014
Had a great trip, the weather was perfect. Tom the bus driver was very friendly and courteous. Our tour guide Robin was very knowledgeable and friendly. The other passengers were all nice and we got on well with each other. Met some lovely people on our tour. Tasmania is a lovely place, would go back and visit again.
The trip was just wonderful 0 , Australia, Jan 2014
The trip was just wonderful. The only problem we had was probably our own fault because we booked late but when we arrived in the Hobart airport & found the AAT Kings driver to take us to Wrest Point Hotel we were not on his list so he wasn't looking for us. In the emailed material Georgina sent through & which I'd printed out I found the documents ...read more he needed but apparently the communication between the booking office & this driver had been overlooked. As I say, it was probably due to our late booking. This tour was the most wonderful way to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary. Both the tour guide & the bus driver made the trip extra special for us & I believe, for everyone on the tour.
