Itinerary

Depart for Derby this morning, visiting the Boab Prison Tree today along the way. Measuring 14 metres wide and estimated to be more than 1,500 years old, this significant tree was once used by early police patrols as a holding point for prisoners.

This afternoon, enjoy your exploration of Derby, starting with some free time for lunch. Visit the Norval Gallery, run by a Kimberley artist husband and wife team Mark and Mary Norval. The gallery showcases their own insightful work alongside the artwork of many Indigenous artists from the Kimberley region.

Tonight, settle into your accommodation and enjoy dinner with your fellow travellers. Stay: Spinifex Hotel, Derby (D)

The famous Gibb River Road takes us to Bell Gorge, where cliffs surround a series of tiered waterholes. You might like to wander down to the gorge's expansive lower pool for a swim beneath its cascading waterfall. Tonight, enjoy an Insider Experience at your wilderness lodge. Stay: Bell Gorge Wilderness Lodge (B/L/D)

Insider Experience: Enjoy open-air dining in a charming outback setting at the Bell Gorge Wilderness Lodge as you soak in the sights and sounds of the Kimberley during dinner. You'll delight in this experience on each night of your stays here and at the Mitchell Falls and Bungle Bungle wilderness lodges.

Visit picturesque Manning Creek and enjoy lunch in the shade of the area's impressive boab trees before taking a refreshing dip in the pristine water. At Galvans Gorge, take a short walk to a natural waterhole for another relaxing swim. Stay: Drysdale River Station (B/L/D)

Explore the amazing rock art galleries of the Mitchell Plateau before a swim in the clear waters of the King Edward River. Stay Two Nights: Mitchell Falls Wilderness Lodge (B/L/D)

Insider Experience: Admire ancient Wandjina and Gwion Gwion (Bradshaw) rock art created by the Wunambal people.

Walk through the Mitchell Plateau today to experience the power and beauty of its waterfalls and marvel at its collection of Indigenous rock art. Begin with a guided hike to Little Mertens Falls to view rarely seen rock art before continuing to the impressive Big Mertens Falls.

Next up is the tiered Mitchell Falls, where you can cool down with a swim in the refreshing natural pools above the falls. Alternatively, you can choose to take an optional helicopter flight. (B/L/D)

Bidding the Mitchell Plateau goodbye, re-join the Gibb River Road and ford the Durack and Pentecost rivers on the way to El Questro, an incredible cattle station turned nature reserve which covers a staggering 700,000 acres. Stay Two Nights: El Questro Station, shared facilities (B/L/D)

Set off on a walk to Emma Gorge today. A spectacular oasis awaits, where you can take a refreshing dip beneath the gorge's tumbling waterfall while shaded by its towering cliffs. You can also choose to take an optional Chamberlain Gorge cruise. (B)

You may wish to enjoy today at leisure in Kununurra, or you can take an optional cruise of the Ord River. Stay: Kununurra , Kimberley Grande Resort (B)

Treat yourself to a magical day in Purnululu National Park with a hike to Echidna Chasm. Wander through the otherworldly cleft, gazing up at the narrow cliffs as they reach up to 200 metres towards the sky.

Later, transfer to your beautiful lodge. Stay Two Nights: Bungle Bungle Wilderness Lodge (B/L/D)

Enjoy a full day to explore some of Purnululu National Park's most beautiful locations. Experience the incredible natural acoustics of Cathedral Gorge, a vast amphitheatre of vibrant rock created by erosion over millions of years.

Later, stroll along Piccaninny Creek winding your way through the park's unique landscapes. Alternatively, you can take to the skies on an optional helicopter flight. (B/L/D)

Head to Halls Creek and admire the unusual China Wall. A natural quartz formation which runs for six kilometres, the wall is an echo of the Great Wall of China, after which it was named.

Continue on towards Fitzroy Crossing, a small settlement situated on the Fitzroy River. Stay: Fitzroy River Lodge, Safari Tents (B/L/D)

After your Geike Gorge cruise, see Windjana Gorge, where ancient marine fossils lay embedded in the imposing and beautiful gorge walls. Continue to Tunnel Creek, where you can wade through its refreshing waters as you work your way along Western Australia's oldest cave system to a hidden oasis. Later, drive to Broome where your tour ends. (B/L)

Insider Experience: Embark on a cruise along the Fitzroy River through Geikie Gorge. Glide between its towering cliff walls, which have been bleached by flood waters, and keep an eye out for local wildlife including crocodiles and wallabies.
