  • Amani Ya Juu Lunch: In the post-colonial era of East and Southern Africa, Kenya found itself as a refuge for many women who were seeking safety. As a result, a very special G Adventures for Good supported project, Amani ya Juu, was created. Amani ya Juu serves as a community where many of these women can learn entrepreneurship and engage in fair trade activities that allow them to create opportunities for themselves and their families. By creating unique handicrafts symbolic of their cultures, the women can express themselves and receive an impactful income, leading to economic independence. Here you’ll enjoy a locally sourced lunch prepared by women and youth of the community, engage in conversation to learn of their history, and build a greater connection with this incredible program.

While camping, we stay at designated campsites inside of and nearby the national reserves and parks. These campsites generally are very basic, and we carry tents to pitch at the public campsites.
  • The campsite in Samburu is basic. You will have electricity the whole day and evening, with access to shared bathrooms with flush toilet facilities for males and females separated. Wi-Fi is available, though with a variable signal.
  • The first 4 nights camping in Samburu and Nakuru will be in dome tents. At the Masai Mara, you will stay in a simple permanent tented camp. These are walk-in “safari tents” with single beds & mattresses. There is solar power electricity for lights during the nights and charging batteries. The facilities here are basic, though there are flush toilets and hot and cold water showers inside the tents.
  • The idea of camping in Africa can be a daunting one. For those not accustomed to ‘roughing it’ for a few days, don’t worry, your trip is a ‘full service camping’ experience. All tents are pitched for you, meals are prepared and served and the washing up is done by G Adventures staff. Sleeping bags are not required. This leaves you with more time to enjoy your surroundings and is ideal for first-time campers who may be worried about the challenges such a trip can entail.
