Very Enjoyable 0 , NSW, Australia, May 2023
Thoroughly enjoyed this tour for various reasons. The 20 people on the tour were a harmonious mixed group of singles and couples but mainly all with wide travel experience. It was a pleasure to travel with them. Our guide in Italy/Sicily was Flavio. He was very patient and went out of his way to ensure that things went well and to attend to any ...read more problems that occurred along the way.

Our bus driver was Gabrielo who deserves a medal for the way he negotiated our bus in some very interesting and tight places. Only comment on the bus is that we did not have WiFi. We had different local guides in some of the places we visited and they contributed to the enjoyment of the day. Our guide in Malta was Cynthia. She was very very efficient and knowledgeable and contributed to our greater understanding of Malta.

There were several minor hiccups along the way but they were overcome and in their own way contributed to the travel experience. The hotel in Rome is listed as a four star. I think this is a bit of an exaggeration and it is a three star at best. The remainder of the accommodation was OK for me as my needs are simple but some of the other people had problems with their rooms. These problems were corrected either by the person themselves or our guide. I thought that the trip to the Vatican Museum and Sistine Chapel was not worth the effort. Both places were grossly overcrowded and you were unable to really stop and absorb anything. I got the impression that it was just a huge money making enterprise designed to push through as many people as possible in the shortest amount of time possible.

The other cities and towns we visited were good and, as mentioned before, we had local guides in many of them. Our last day in Sicily was good but a lot of time was wasted as our ferry to Malta did not leave until 9.30pm. As such we arrived at our hotel in Malta at midnight and then after check in and baggage it was much later before getting to bed. I would suggest that the last day in Sicily be compressed and that the transfer to Malta be on an earlier ferry. Overall, I had a great time and I am pleased that I went on this tour.
Southern Italy with Bunnik 1 , NSW, Australia, May 2023
This was a very busy tour filled with lots of activities. I really enjoyed the UNESCO Roman and Megalithic sights included. Our tour's pizza making was a highlight. Although I traveled in May Italy was very busy and unfortunately we had a lot of rain. Our tour director could have been more helpful with interesting facts on the bus. Other than that it ...read more was a great tour with a lot of wonderful UNESCO sights.
Very good tour 0 , QLD, Australia, Sep 2022
I throughly enjoyed this holiday. Having only 20 people made it possible to know everyone. The group I went with were wonderful. We had no disagreements and got on very well. There was a slight disappointment with the flight back where we stopped in Cyprus on our way from Malta to Dubai and had to stay on the plane for the hour stopover. Not ideal. ...read more The local guides were all very nice and knowledgeable. I particularly enjoyed visiting Pompei. Mt Etna which is puffing away, two Greek ruins and two prehistoric temples on Malta. The hotels were all good and the ferry’s very comfortable. The tour is highly recommended.
Southern Italy, Sicily and Malta tour   8 , NSW, Australia, Oct 2019
The tour leader in Italy was average, the Malta tour leader was excellent. The hotels in both Italy and Malta were generally disappointing. However the locations in Italy were breathtaking as was Malta. The highlights were staying in a Trulli house in Alberobello and in a cave house in Matera - these were the only good accommodations in the entire tour. ...read more Tour pace was hectic and rushed but there was enough free time if you didn't do every optional excursion. Global Journeys were excellent, providing good documentation and reminders. I would definitely use them again.
Great organisation   2 , NSW, Australia, Sep 2019
We were so impressed with the booking experience with had with Yvonne Brooks from Global Journeys for our Bunnik tour to Southern Italy and Malta. If you are interested in Ancient history this was an ideal tour. There were 18 Australians in our group. All were well travelled. The highlight was Alberobello and Matera. We added 2 extra nights at the end ...read more so had 6 nights in Malta which was fabulous. 2 hotels were changed at the last minute and their location was not as ideal. The other hotels were in central locations. We travelled in early September and it was hot and humid. Any questions we had were answered promptly and our requests professionally handled. We would definitely recommend them and hope to book future tours with Global Journeys again.
Well balanced and well paced cultural tour 4 , QLD, Australia, Apr 2019
One of the highlights was St John Cathedral in Malta with the excellent narration from Trudi our local guide and the quirky accommodation we stayed in to get the feel of local life from past and today. We saw a lot without being overloaded or tiring and the tour group (12) got on so well right from the start which rounded off the whole trip. The flight ...read more home of three stops was the only negative of the holiday.

This was a very good tour but the Tour Director was very disappointing. She seldom gave local or weather info, or even stopped to go to the loo every couple of hours. The only thing she was adamant about was needing to sleep at night so don't call her - luckily none of us had a need to do so. The tour itself was fascinating and included many places ...read more we has never even heard of but we're nonetheless very much worth visiting. Of course we went to all the places we knew about. Both Bunnik Tours and Global Journeys are to be congratulated on a fantastic tour, it's just the we wouldn't use Elena again as a tour director if we had any choice. The local guides were all much better.
Wonderful holiday in Italy, Sicily and Malta 8 , QLD, Australia, Aug 2017
We loved travelling in a small group of only 20 people. Highlights were Rome, Sorrento, Amalfi Coast, Alberobello, Matera, Giardini Naxos and Malta. We absolutely loved Malta. Everything went smoothly, the accommodation was good and the tour guides were brilliant.
An Amazing Southern Italy Sojourn   5 , WA, Australia, Sep 2016
Everything about this holiday worked for me. Our booking agent at Global Journeys was wonderful, quick and efficient. The cost was reasonable. The itinerary really great, mixed and everywhere we went was enjoyable. The tour director (Alessia) was a wow factor as she was such fun and very competent. She livened up the tour and made sure we were never ...read more bored. The local guides were excellent too.
