Overview

From the Maltese archipelago to the Spanish coast via Sicily, we invite you to experience exceptional moments discovering fascinating sites. Scenic Eclipse will leave Valletta for an 11 day voyage on seas brimming with history. After a wonderful stop on Gozo, an unspoiled island that is home to a megalithic UNESCO listed site , sail to Italy and along the Andalucían coastline. Immortalised in operas and vividly depicted in 19th century art and literature, Andalucía is reminiscent of Spain: a sun-dappled, fiesta-loving land of guitar-wielding troubadours, feisty operatic heroines and Roma singers...read more wailing sad laments. Guarding the Strait of Gibraltar, Tangier has for centuries been Europe’s gateway to Africa. Its blend of cultures and influences is unique in Morocco – for much of its history it wasn’t even governed by Morocco.

Itinerary

Welcome to The Fortress City of Valletta. Board Scenic Eclipse and join your captain and new friends and toast the beginning your Mediterranean voyage. Please book your flight to arrive into Valletta prior to 02:00 PM. (D)

Gozo is an idyllic Mediterranean island, with green rolling hills of small farms, quaint fishing villages, small coves and sandy, sheltered beaches. Its crystal clear waters invite you to explore. Complete with historical sites, forts and phenomenal panoramas, this sleepy island is just waiting for you to explore it. Gozo has earnt the reputation of being one of the Mediterranean’s top outdoor adventure playgrounds, with 300 days of sunshine a year. (B/L/D)

Boasting a long history, Trapani was previously an agricultural centre for the hilltop fortress town of Erice. The city between two seas became a very important centre due to its strategic position. Walk around the narrow streets filled with refined baroque buildings with their typical wrought-iron balconies, picturesque restaurants and antique shops. Visit the unfinished temple dating from 424 BC for excellent views of the countryside and distant coastline. (B/L/D)

Graceful palazzi, crowded cafés and palm trees line the busy waterfront. Slowly wander through the quaint, cobbled old town, admiring the red-roofed architecture rising amidst the green hillside. Lying just off the coast of Sardinia, Carloforte is the only town of the small Isola di San Pietro. Carloforte boasts a long-standing tradition of wooden boatbuilding, with traditional lateen sail fishing boats still spotted in the harbour. (B/L/D)

Known for its old quarter and medieval streets filled with palaces, churches and fortresses, Ciutadella is truly Vella i Bella (‘Old and Beautiful’). Life on Menorca is dictated by the slow and gentle waves that lap on the shorelines. Breathe ing the history during your walk through the old town and gain an insight into the greatness this town has lived through. (B/L/D)

Formentera boasts magnificent beaches, charming villages and glistening waters. Only accessible by boat, the island was favoured by pirates and has a long and varied history dating back over 4000 years. Choose to relax on its white sand beach, enjoy swimming, snorkelling or kayaking in the turquoise waters, or take a walk or ride along the green routes across the most remote countryside. (B/L/D)

A prized location with one of the world’s greatest natural harbours at its doorstep and surrounded by rich mineral deposits, Cartagena is a delight. Once inhabited by the Romans, Cartagena is recognised for the wealth of ancient sites in and around the city. Roman murals and mosaics adorn historical villas while late19th century architecture complements the picturesque Mediterranean coast. (B/L/D)

Puerto Banús is known for its luxurious cars, exclusive shops and impressive yachts – where Scenic Eclipse will feel right at home. This small town was developed in the 1970s to be the perfect combination of Andalusian culture, reflecting the fishing ports of the area, and a luxurious port with sophistication and elegance. Against the backdrop of immense mountains, wind your way through narrow streets lined with flower boxes. With a late-night departure, relish the opportunity to experience Puerto Banús both by day and night. (B/L/D)

At the southern tip of the Mediterranean Sea lies Tangier. Guarding the Strait of Gibraltar, where the Mediterranean Sea meets the Atlantic Ocean. Tangier is Europe’s gateway to Africa. Influenced over its history by many cultures and civilisations, Tangier has a strong Spanish influence making it an excellent showcase for Spanish-Moorish architecture. Known as the white city for its whitewashed houses strewn along the winding streets, Tangier is today a city undergoing significant development and modernisation. (B/L/D)

On the western Algarve, Portimão is a small port with a bustling historic centre. Once a well-known fishing port, now transformed into a breath-taking promenade with shops selling traditional lace, ceramics, and leather goods, and fantastic restaurants. Portimão is much loved for the steep limestone cliffs that surround its sandy beach of Praia da Rocha. Architectural masterpieces from the 19th and 20th century seamlessly blend with colourful contemporary structures creating the Portimão we know today. (B/L/D)

Today we bid farewell to fellow shipmates and crew and leave with a treasure-trove of fond memories. Please book your flight to depart out of Lisbon after 11:00 AM. The itinerary is a guide only and may be amended for operational reasons. As such Scenic cannot guarantee the tour will operate unaltered from the itinerary stated above.
