Itinerary
Hola San José! Kicking off our adventure in Costa Rica’s capital, you’ll feel the tropical air hit your face as soon as you step off the plane. You'll be picked up at the airport and taken to our accommodation, where you have time to relax before meeting up with your new travel mates and getting excited about the adventures yet to come.
Today we begin learning about the rich culture and history of San José on a walking tour, pointing out the stunning architecture and beautiful parks nestled around every corner. From here, we’ll leave the capital behind and journey into the lush lowlands of Sarapiquí, stopping en route at the Pierella Butterfly Garden. Set within beautiful tropical gardens, this tranquil spot is home to a variety of butterflies and wildlife. We’ll learn how butterflies are bred and have time to wander the gardens.
Adventure takes centre stage today! We’ll kick things off with an exhilarating white-water rafting experience, riding the river through vibrant rainforest scenery before sitting down to a well-earned included lunch. Later, we’ll slow the pace on a fascinating leaf-cutter ant tour, discovering how these tiny creatures play a huge role in the ecosystem. After nightfall, we’ll head out on a guided night walk, keeping our eyes peeled for frogs, insects, reptiles and other nocturnal wildlife.
This morning we make our way towards La Fortuna, with a special stop along the way to visit a local organic family farm. Here, we’ll learn how fresh produce is grown and harvested before sitting down together for a delicious, included home-cooked Casado lunch. With a cup of locally grown coffee to finish, we’ll continue on to La Fortuna, where the iconic Arenal region awaits.
Today is all about soaking up La Fortuna’s natural wonders. We’ll visit a breathtaking Waterfall, where jungle surrounds a powerful cascade tumbling into a cool pool below. Next up are the El Salto pools, a local favourite and the perfect place for a refreshing swim. After an active day, we’ll wind down in natural hot springs, letting warm, mineral-rich waters soothe our muscles as we relax beneath the rainforest canopy.
The outdoors await as we head into the rainforest, hiking across hanging bridges that carve the jungle. As we explore, there’s a good chance to spot some of Costa Rica’s incredible flora and fauna, with views of the rainforest canopy along the way. The afternoon is yours to enjoy - whether that’s kicking back and relaxing or diving into more adventure. For thrill-seekers, why not try ziplining through the treetops?
Today we’re off to Samara, and once we arrive it’s straight into beach life. You’ll have time to top up your tan on the beach, play some volleyball, or just chill with a cocktail. Perched on the edge of the Pacific, this coastal town retains a hip, laid-back charm.
Start the day strong with a surf lesson, learning to ride the waves with local legends who know these waters like the back of their hand. Later, we’ll swap surfboards for dance shoes with a lively salsa class, learning the rhythms and moves that are woven into Costa Rican culture!
Next up its white sand beaches, sun-drenched skies, and swaying palms as we head up the coast to a more secluded beach of Guanacaste. Untouched by mass tourism, this beach is a true gem of Costa Rica. Kick back with a good book, swim in calm waters, play a few games of football… whatever your beach vibe, we can make it happen.
After a relaxing morning chilling by the sea, we will head south, making our way to Esterillos - another laid-back beachside gem.
The spectacular Manuel Antonio National Park is in our sights, so keep your camera at the ready. This is the most visited National Park in Costa Rica – and it’ll be no surprise why as we explore its lush jungles and gorgeous beaches together. Keep your eyes peeled as we search for wildlife, including everyone’s favourite, the world-famous sloth! After a morning in the jungle, we’re off to see more tranquil beaches. Just keep your eyes out for the cheeky monkeys, who also call these beaches home.
Leaving the coast behind, we head back to San José, where our journey began. But the fun is not over yet as we stop for a super cultural experience and everyone's favourite - Cacao, better known as chocolate, Yum! We will learn about how this humble tree has been so important for millennia in Costa Rica. And, yes, don't worry, we get to try some chocolate to check this for ourselves. Tonight, we’ll gather for our farewell meal and drinks, toasting to our unforgettable time in Costa Rica. Pura Vida!
