Itinerary

Your luxurious yacht cruise begins in Puntarenas, where you'll be transferred to your Emerald Cruises luxury yacht and embark on your discovery of Panama and Costa Rica's West Coast. (D)

The Curú National Wildlife Refuge and farm are situated in Nicoya Peninsula in north-west Costa Rica. Some of the country's most beautiful beaches and protected bays can be found here. Costa Rica's first private national wildlife refuge is an example of a successful sustainable development program. One can still see the cattle grazing as well as tropical fruits growing such as mangos.

You also will get to see Isla Tortuga, which is one of the top destinations in Costa Rica, just about an hour away from the shores of Nicoya Peninsula. Isla Tortuga boasts a perfect sandy beach with palm trees and clear waters. You can relax at the beach, enjoy a hike, or go snorkelling in the crystal waters. (B/L/D)

Quepos is a small, booming harbour town famous for being one of the best places for sport fishing as well as the gateway to the well-known national park Manuel Antonio. As a tropical inlet backed by rainforest, it offers a variety of outdoor adventures. After the fall of the banana plantation that laid the foundations for the port, Quepos replaced its former industry with ecotourism – meaning that there are many other draws, including kayaking and canopy tours. Quepos is also frequented by many scientists and naturalists, who come to study this region's fantastic biodiversity. (B/L/D)

Golfito Bay is a ‘gulf within a gulf', known for its unspoiled landscape framed by lush mangroves of Corcovado and Piedras Blancas national parks. It is home to some of the richest biodiversity in the world and is located in one of the most vibrant destinations in Costa Rica, where eco-adventurers, boaters, surfers, and outdoor lovers come to explore and connect with nature through an array of fun and exciting activities. A hidden gem where the Costa Rican jungle meets the sea, Marina Golfito allows you to experience Costa Rica from a stunning new perspective. (B/L/D)

Cebaco Island is in the province of Veraguas and is part of the buffer zone of Coiba Island National Park. This is Panama's third-largest island after Coiba Island and Isla del Rey. There are around 500 people living on the island nowadays, mainly distributed in communities in the north. Isla Cebaco is also known for its beaches. (B/L/D)

The Darién National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage-listed site covering around 5,750 square kilometres. The park is among the largest and most precious protected areas in all of Central America. It covers up almost the entire Panama-Colombia border as well as a stretch to the Pacific. This park offers an exceptional variety of habitats – sandy beaches, rocky coasts, swamps, mangroves, and tropical forests – which makes it the perfect home for diverse wildlife. There are two indigenous tribes, for both Panama and Costa Rica, which live today on the park's riverbanks. (B/L/D)

Today we venture into Isla San José, one of the privately owned Pearl Islands. It is also the second-largest island in the Las Perlas archipelago. Isla San José is home to a variety of wild animals such as exotic birds, deer, reptiles as well as wild pigs. There are over 50 beaches on Isla San José and this Pearl Island boasts a spectacular rocky shoreline on its north side. (B/L/D)

After breakfast, you can explore Panama City on your own, discovering the hidden gems of this Central American hotspot. In the afternoon, we'll welcome you back on board your Emerald Cruises luxury yacht for the second half of your journey where you'll get to explore the Southern Caribbean and the Panama Canal. (B/L/D)

Today, we are passing through the Panama Canal, the most famous attraction in Panama. Considered as one of the ‘Seven Wonders of the Modern World', this canal was built to significantly decrease the travel time for ships between the Pacific Ocean and the Caribbean Sea. In its lifetime, the canal has seen over 900,000 vessels and counting, and is seen by many as an engineering miracle which was at first considered impossible to build. Today, you'll experience this marvellous waterway for yourself. (B/L/D)

The San Blas archipelago is a group of islands located just north-west of Panama in the Caribbean Sea. There are 378 islands within the archipelago spread around in an area of roughly 100 square miles. Most of the islands are uninhabited, but on some of the larger ones, one can meet the native people known as the Kunas. Formally called Kuna Yala (‘Land of the Kuna'), San Blas is an autonomous territory of Panama famous for its untouched nature and traditional culture. (B/L/D)

Located on the coast of the Caribbean Sea, Cartagena de Indias uniquely combines the charm of colonial architecture and the excitement of vivid modern life. The city is well known for its fascinating cultural festivals, breathtaking landscapes and excellent cuisine. This fabulous city holds secrets of Latin American history within its Old Town walls and narrow stone walkways. It is among the most well-preserved cities in the Americas and has inspired many artists throughout history. (B/L/D)

Today, take of the opportunity to learn about Cartagena's architectural and cultural heritage in more detail. Cartagena's remarkable historic centre and its cultural importance ensured the city was declared as a UNESCO World Heritage-listed site. The city's access to nearby beautiful beaches makes it the perfect place to enjoy the pleasant Caribbean weather. (B/L/D)

The welcome sign of Santa Marta reads, “Here you can have it all” – and this is truly the case when it comes to the wide variety of activities available in Santa Marta. Alongside its beautiful beaches and vibrant city life, Santa Marta boasts a rich history and culture – it is the oldest remaining city in Colombia, dating back to 1525. (B/L/D)

In the very north of Colombia's La Guajira region lies the unmissable destination of Cabo de la Vela, considered to be one of the Colombia's best kept secrets. Here, you will find one of the calmest and most paradisiacal beaches located in the widest desert area of Colombia. This privileged location just off the shores of the Caribbean offers some spectacular landscapes showcasing different ecosystems and provides the ideal conditions to enjoy unforgettable experiences. (B/L/D)

The capital of Aruba, Oranjestad is a unique blend of old and modern, giving a special charm to the colourful city. It is a bustling harbour city whose streets are dotted with diverse boutiques, as well as dazzling residential buildings. Among the remarkable restored buildings is the green ‘Stadhuis', which houses the City Hall. Another interesting sight is the Aloe Museum and Factory, which dates to 1890 and tells the fascinating story of aloe production, on which the economy was once dependent. (B/L/D)

This island group is an attractive destination for nature lovers and eco-tourists, as all islands offer excellent opportunities for snorkelling and swimming, as well as hiking. Bonaire, just off the north coast of Venezuela, is famous for its pioneering conservation efforts, with a large part of the island being protected. Today, you'll explore Kralendijk, the colourful capital of Bonaire, famous for its charming architecture and sandy beaches. (B/L/D)

Enjoy a day at sea, soaking the Caribbean sun while enjoying the stunning views from your luxury yacht and making the most of its various facilities. (B/L/D)

Mayreau is the smallest of the Grenadines' uninhabited islands, with a surface area of only 4 square kilometres (1.5 square miles). The population of Mayreau is no more than 250 people who live in the village on the island's highest hill, Station Hill. The charming little church and community centre at the top of the hill provide spectacular views over the islands. On a clear day, one can see both Grenada and St. Vincent, as well as other nearby islands, showcasing the pretty colours of the reefs and waters around the Tobago Cays. (B/L/D)

Amazing Azzurra 4 , VIC, Australia, May 2023
Eleven days of pure bliss, our expectations were surpassed on this voyage from Athens to Athens. We could not fault any aspect of our time aboard or any of the activities we enjoyed. Special mentions go to Karen (activities), Paul (chef & his crew) and Ozay in the spa.
