Itinerary
Embarkation from 4:00pm
Welcome to the “City of Three Rivers,” Passau! After boarding in the afternoon, take your time exploring your AMADEUS ship and meet the crew over a welcome cocktail. Before the lovingly prepared dinner is served, cast off and set course for Regensburg.
Thurn & Taxis Palace
After breakfast, arrive in Regensburg, one of Germany's best-preserved medieval cities. A guided tour reveals its churches, monasteries, the historic town hall, one of Europe's oldest bridges, and the striking St. Peter's Cathedral – testaments to the city's past power and wealth. In the afternoon, explore the splendid Thurn & Taxis Palace, its grand marble staircase, and opulent princely chambers. At the castle's brewery, enjoy a short tour, a glass of beer, and a traditional Bavarian pretzel. Back on board, the day ends with a lively Bavarian Evening as the ship crosses the European watershed between Rhine and Danube.
Bavarian Delights in Nuremberg
In the afternoon, discover Nuremberg, Bavaria's second-largest city, on a guided tour of the Imperial Castle, magnificent churches, Henkersteg, and Weinstadel. Wander the winding streets and historic squares of this former free imperial city – and don't miss tasting the world-famous Nuremberg gingerbread. Back on board, the Bavarian Evening continues with traditional dishes, lively music, and joyful entertainment.
Bamberg – A City of History
Overnight, sail through the Main-Danube Canal to arrive in Bamberg in the morning. Join a guided tour to see the Imperial Cathedral, Old Court, New Residence, the Old Town Hall, and “Little Venice.” For the more active, an E-bike tour explores hidden corners, green oases, and historic quarters. In the evening, enjoy a lecture about the engineering marvel of the Main-Danube Canal, connecting Rhine and Danube.
Würzburg & Rothenburg ob der Tauber
After breakfast, say “Grüß Gott” in Würzburg, famed for its baroque architecture and fine wines. The city tour includes the Würzburg Residence with Tiepolo frescoes, grand staircase, and Kaisersaal, followed by a stroll through the charming Old Town and a glass of wine with views of Marienberg Fortress. Alternatively, a full-day excursion takes you to Rothenburg ob der Tauber: after an orientation tour of Würzburg, enjoy lunch and a guided walk through the medieval streets, historic town hall, and the iconic Plönlein, with free time to explore further before departing in the evening.
Romantic Main Towns
Today is devoted to the romantic towns along the Main. After breakfast, explore Wertheim on a guided walk, then continue by bus to Miltenberg for another tour. The ship awaits in Miltenberg, and you sail upriver in the early evening, concluding the day with a memorable gala dinner.
Upper Middle Rhine Valley & Lorelei
In the morning, reach Rüdesheim, where you can either take a guided town tour including Siegfried's Mechanical Music Cabinet and the historic Old Town, or enjoy a gourmet excursion to Eberbach Abbey with a Riesling tasting. In the afternoon, relax on board as you cruise through the UNESCO-listed Upper Middle Rhine Valley, passing the legendary Loreley Rock. In the evening, the ship arrives in Cologne.
Disembarkation after breakfast
After a hearty breakfast, bid farewell to the AMADEUS crew and set off for your journey home, taking unforgettable memories of the Rhine and Danube with you.
