Relaxing Douro River Cruise. 0 Jan and Guy, WA, Australia, Sep 2025
This cruise was excellent is many ways - boat was great, rooms good, staff were wonderful. They were extremely attentive and responded to all requests immediately, as well as being pleasant, sociable, and linking well with the group and individuals. The Douro is a wine and port region, so the views were spectacular over the terraced vineyards and Quintas. read more There was a variety of good entertainment in the evenings - Karaoke/Dancing/Singers/ Fado. Staff were active in encouraging all this and participated themselves. The meals were excellent and offered a lot of variety and choice. All wines with dinner were included. The tours were all quite interesting. However, there were no 'active' excursions. There were no hikes/bikes/kayaking, as there are on other advertised Douro cruises. Although you indicated we could get suggestions from the cruise director, there was only one day that he suggested a hike that was well worth doing. Otherwise, we were in ports without interesting hikes, or he had no suggestions. As we are active travelers, often walking/hiking 6-10km a day, or biking, this was very disappointing. Although the cathedrals/castles/wine and port excursions were interesting, they only involved minimal walking - often no more than 1 km. So, if you are not looking for an active tour, this was excellent in all other ways. Excellent River Cruise
0 Jacki , VIC, Australia, Jul 2025 Fabulous 7 day cruise on the Douro River with Travelmarvel. Very beautiful Valley - endless terraced grape vines and winerys. Beautiful ship. Estrella and great staff.. included drinks with lunch and dinner plentiful- drinks at other times very reasonable.. Pool great to lounge in on the top deck.. plenty of lounges and shade available on the top deck read more too. Great addition to our trip organised by Tracey. Thoroughly enjoyable Douro River cruise with Travelmarvel 3 Kerri, VIC, Australia, Aug 2019
We thoroughly enjoyed the cruise, it was relaxing taking in the scenery as we cruised to our next village. The boat doesn’t sail at night therefore you get to sit on the deck and take it all in. You are not on the go all the time like some other tours, the fact that you are on board for a week means that you unpack and that’s it until you disembark read more for your next destination. The people on the boat were all very friendly. Our cabin was very noisy which was disappointing as we were on level three, we also experienced a smell from the drain. A fantastic week
6 Gayle & Bradley, QLD, Australia, Jul 2019 Our Douro River Cruise was amazing. Cruise director Isobel couldn’t have been better, from the time we boarded our cruise until we disembarked. Food and service was superb.
MS Douro Serenity 18 Brian & Merilyn, WA, Australia, Jul 2018
The cruise was conducted on the MS Douro Serenity which was built 2017. Our cabin was 224 which was very noisy - the ship has a vacuum toilet system which echos through the cabin at all hours all day. We asked to be shifted to another cabin and the only other cabin was 101 which meant that our "upgrade" was null and void. The actual cruise, staff, and read more the meals etc were excellent. The Travelmarvel Tours, staff etc were all excellent. I would advise anyone who is offered the last cabin in the decks to look at other cabins. It was a shame that this episode with the cabin spoilt a wonderful cruise with wonderful scenery and tours. Results 1-5 of 5
