Travelmarvel exceeded my expectations. The pre and post accommodation was of a high standard and the cruise itself outstanding. The cabins on La Marguerite were larger than expected and the included excursions extensive. The highlight of the trip was the amazing tour director, guides and crew - all locals with their own stories to tell.

We had many opportunities to visit local communities and explore places outside the normal tourist sites. The tour group (79 people, mainly from Australia and Britain) was divided into three smaller groups for each excursion which made disembarking and embarking the river boat a very organised process. We look forward to future trips with Travelmarvel.

Accommodation was really great on this trip with Travelmarvel. Tour Director Mr Tu was first class, the tour guides he had were very informative and also caring.

All staff on the boat were very friendly and cooperative. We enjoyed their company and service immensely. The guides were very friendly, helpful and personable throughout the trip. The Shinta Mani Shack in Siem Reap is a really nice hotel.

We were first placed on the lower deck at water level. This smelled so mouldy that we knew as soon as we opened ...read more the cabin that we could not stay there. The atmosphere was dank and frankly toxic. At the same moment, a cabin became available on deck 3 which was immediately taken up by another passenger. This left her cabin available which I immediately requested – at an upfront cost of another $1,000 for the upgrade.

We were lucky. Having spoken to some of the other passengers, I think that may well apply to the rest of the lower deck as well. On returning I put a request for a refund of that $1,000 to Travelmarvel, which they honoured immediately, I am happy to say. Overall, the trip had a good mix of activities both on-board and ashore.

First time traveling with Travelmarvel and would definitely do it again. Guides were excellent as was accommodation, meals and transport. Vietnam and Cambodia are realising the value of the tourist dollar and are becoming the next 'must visit' world tourist destinations. Excellent accommodation. Local tour guides with very good English and local knowledge. No worries about arrangements or schedules. A very enjoyable holiday.

Couldn't fault the cruise, comfy accommodation, great food & wine, pleasant service and cruise director was fabulous. He had a tough time with sick people. Very happy all round, even the weather was good!

Fantastic trip. Having travelled Asia many times including Vietnam 10 times this was our first trip on the River Cruise 7 days and Cambodia. River cruise was a 9.5 out of 10. Extremely sad visiting the killing fields but a must just to see what these people went through.

Great tour guides and tour director. Fantastic booking experience with Global Journeys. February was a perfect time to visit Vietnam and Cambodia. The weather was hot but not unbearable and no rain. We can't speak highly enough of the service and program for our Wonders of Vietnam and Cambodia holiday. I might just add that we nearly had a disaster before we even left due to us miss-reading the departure time and date. The ticket said Saturday 0.35 and for some reason we saw this as being late on the Saturday night not the Friday night. This was no fault of Travel Marvel but perhaps on future occasions you could point out this to Canberra departures as staff at the airport said this wasn't the first time it had happened. I can tell you that as we sat in our seats on the Singapore Airlines flight taking off, we heaved a big sigh of relief. That said, the rest of the trip went smoothly and we had a great time.

I can't give enough praise to our tour guide Han, who was brilliant. He was polite, always had a smile on his face and frequently went out of his way to help fellow travellers who were not as mobile as some of us. His knowledge and advice throughout was faultless. Nothing was too much trouble for him. Much the same can be said of the individual local guides. Their knowledge went a big way to making each trip rewarding and they even showed expertise in taking photographs for individuals. As a photographer myself I also appreciated our guide at Siem Reap pointing out several vantage points, which I might not have seen, to get the best shots.

Our accommodation and travel arrangements throughout were excellent. Our trips on Ha Long Bay and the Mekong were especially exciting and the food and service on both were top class as our scales showed on return to Canberra. Our thanks to you Yvonne at Global Journeys and the rest of the Travel Marvel crew. Angkor Wat was the highlight of the trip. Amazing place and loved Siem Reap and Phonm Pehn. Could have spent an extra day at Siem Reap. Tour guides were all great, their personal stories made the trip. Food and wine was wonderful as was the service. Would recommend the trip to my friends and family.

We had a fabulous holiday and surprisingly survived their traffic. We have seen and learnt so much about Vietnam and Cambodia. From the time we were met at Hanoi airport by Karnh until we were taken to Saigon airport, to fly home, we were extremely well looked after. Our Tour Guide Tu was very professional and well organized. All the local guides were well chosen and did their best to give us information about life in their particular part of Vietnam or Cambodia. The hotels were of a high standard and all positioned centrally ( Shinta Mani Resort in Siem Reap was the highlight). We were fed so well during the whole trip. The cruises on Halong Bay and the Mekong were thoroughly enjoyable. In fact the whole trip was thoroughly enjoyable. We are so glad we went.

Great group of people and have made friends for life. We crossed into Vietnam while on the ship. While the immigration paper work was being done, there were wonderful sessions we all joined doing, so much fun. Vietnam and Cambodia were amazing and so interesting. We loved visiting the schools, they were awesome days. We were very lucky with the weather, only two little showers and the rest was sunshine. Great trip through China, Cambodia and Vietnam. The local guides were fantastic and provided us with so much information in such a friendly and cheerful manner, accomodation was good and the river cruise ships were all so professional and well presented. Would definitely recommend this as a good way to see Asia.

This is the second trip we have booked through Global Journeys and once again it was hassle free everything was organised online and our consultant Emily was fabulous every question answered within 24 hrs. The standard of the accommodation on this trip was 5 star from the hotels to the ship La Marguerite. The staff at all the hotels and especially La Marguerite were amazing nothing was to hard and so friendly with lovely smiles to greet you any time of the day or night. The tour director Pani was so knowledgeable, as were all the local tour guides and what we liked was they shared their experiences of life in Cambodia and Vietnam. The excursions which most were included are well worth doing usually one excursion in the morning and one after lunch. I would recommend this trip to most however if you have trouble walking you may find some places difficult as there are lots of uneven paths and steps.

Travelmarvel's organisation was excellent and the tour director (Son) did a great job. The cruise in Halong Bay was great and both the ship and crew were very accommodating. This was a wonderful trip. We learnt so much more than we ever knew about the Vidtnam and Cambodian wars. First I would like to point out that I was a little bit hesitant before this trip as I did not know what to expect and had heard all kinds of horrible stories about not drinking the water, not eating this and that and people questioning our choice in general. We stayed safe by only using bottled water and only eating on the boats, hotels and recommended restaurants. Travelmarvel even supplied us with cold bottled water on the buses during excursions and it was supplied in the hotels too. I can only congratulate Travelmarvel for its high standard of employees, from our tour director (Yee) who stayed with us from start to finish, the local guides who gave us their own personal knowledge to the bus drivers and helpers on the bus who made sure we got on and off safely with a helping hand and cold face wipes and antibacterial hand gel on our return to the bus. At every moment we felt safe and protected and well looked after. We will definitely travel with them again and recommend them to our family and friends. The 3 hotels were very grand and beautiful and central to everything. The "junk" and La Marguerite were also great as were the staff on board. I cannot recommend this trip highly enough, but be prepared for the heat. We would also like to thank Global Journeys for their easy and efficient booking for us, no problems at all. Ha Long Bay is a must to do and the Mekong cruise was a major highlight. We upgraded to a suite on the Mekong cruise and it was worth every cent, just do it !
