“19 Day New Zealand Showcase”
Very well organised tour. Everything was attended to in a professional manner, from getting our luggage to and from our rooms, to comfort stops and moving us from place to place. The hotels were of a high standard, and the meals provided were delicious and had lots of variety. The tour was in my opinion, of excellent value. We didn’t have a lot of free time, however that meant we were covering a lot of territory, giving us the best travel experience.

“Highlights of the South Island of New Zealand”
An enjoyable tour that showed us the highlights of the South Island. The coach held 48 people and it was full on our tour but that caused no delays. We were with a lovely group of people from England, Ireland, Scotland, Wales, Canada and Australia. The tour moved at a consistent pace and we especially enjoyed the two night stopovers as that gave us a little bit of extra recovery time. The planned excursions were all enjoyable and we had many other options to try other things such as helicopter flights, when time and weather allowed. This was our first coach tour and we found that 10 days was long enough. Overall this was an enjoyable experience and we will consider other coach trips in future.

“Excellent New Zealand tour”
Thoroughly enjoyed this well organised, extremely comfortable and interesting tour. Group size was perfect and the Ultimate coach made travelling a breeze. Of the optional tours, we particularly enjoyed Skippers Canyon, but everything we did and saw was enjoyable.

“South Island NZ with GPT”
Firstly, Global Journeys was excellent in their pricing and handling of the booking, and I am booking another tour through them again. I appreciated Hannah's involvement in the process. The scenery, of course, in the South Island is magnificent. I would travel with Grand Pacific tours again and may do a repeat next year as we missed out on Milford Sound and Te Anau due to floods. Both the driver, Rod, and tour leader, Brenda, were of a high standard and extremely helpful.
Accommodation was variable, but as it was the "affordable" tour option I did not expect too much. What did surprise me was the high quality of included meals, especially the dinners. The tour comprised mainly retirees aged in their 70s and 80s, and the bus had 45 passengers, all of which may appeal to some potential travellers but not others. Note that the single supplement is quite substantial. One piece of advice for anyone going to do an activity in Queenstown, is to check special offers through the site BookMe. I use this site in Australia but did not realise it was active in NZ too, until told by a local tour operator.
For me the main highlights were: adventure activities in Queenstown, the constant majestic mountainous scenery, and strangely, the evening meals. A few things to be aware of, is the the first night 'Welcome Drinks' are not complimentary, which is different from tours I have done in other countries. Also, there is no Wi-Fi on the bus, where overseas this is now included. The carry bags given out were only used by a small number of passengers, and a backpack of the same size would have been preferable.

“Grand Pacific New Zealand Tour”
Grand Pacific was very accommodating in allowing us to join the tour on day four due to our initial tour operator cancelling our tour just 2.5 months prior to our arrival in New Zealand. The tour had a great pace and involved several modes of transportation. This included coach, boats and trains. The overall experience was excellent and the tour guide and drivers were extremely knowledgeable and worked very well together. The nightly accommodations were very good. All were clean and outfitted with updated amenities. As there are sections of travel within New Zealand which take long periods to transit, the days on either side are usually filled with close by excursions and activities.
Global Journeys was excellent to work with and was in continuous contact to assure all elements of the booking were completed on time. We were extremely satisfied with our agent, Hannah, and her ability to work out the unique elements of our booking. We would use again and recommend both Global Journeys and Grand Pacific Tours to our family and friends.

“New Zealand - an experience worth having again”
We’ve just arrived back from our NZ trip and were overwhelmed by the beauty and variety of this engaging country. We travelled from Christchurch, down the east coast to Dunedin, then across to Te Anau and Queenstown before heading up the West Coast through glaciers, fjords, alps, and finally pausing at Arthur's Pass. The TranzAlpine train brought us back to Christchurch before we headed to Picton and were ferried across to the North Island.
From a night in Wellington we headed to Rotorua for some cultural experiences and exposure to geysers and bubbling mud. We organised an option of our own, venturing to Matamata for a half-day Hobbiton tour, then rejoining our group we went on to Auckland for an hour before motoring to Paihia. A cruise to (and through) the Hole in the Rock was followed by a quick walk around Russel before heading back to Auckland to fly home.
What a whirlwind of an experience. We couldn’t call it a holiday given the pace and the waking hours but we gorged on natural beauty, visited museums, learned new cultures, cruised glacial waters, marvelled at earthquake devastation, scaled the heights and depths of man made structures, all while travelling in luxury and eating like royalty. We were exhausted but delighted.
Our tour guide ensured everyone's needs were met with a great degree of professionalism. Tours were organised on the run, advice given, directions were clear, and even the odd traveller's mishap was handled with aplomb. The drivers on both the North Island and South Island were equally professional and each fountains of local knowledge. Their commentary was engaging and their skilful manoeuvring of the coach around tight city streets and precipitous mountain roads had everyone feeling safe and comfortable at all times. We would gladly book with Global Journeys and travel Grand Pacific again. In fact, next time we travel they'll be the first places we look!

“New Zealand Rail, Cruise and Coach trip around both islands”
What a wonderful trip. Great coach drivers on both islands and a wonderful tour guide, nothing was too much trouble. The two night stays at some locations were a blessing and made the trip less tiring. Plenty of free time and most meals and activities were included. Excellent value. Would recommend this tour with no hesitations. Fully enjoyable.

Before I book
Can I book directly with Grand Pacific Tours? Are all tours guaranteed to depart?
Grand Pacific Tours is a wholesale Tour Operator and as such do not take direct bookings from clients. However any of their touring holidays can be booked through Global Journeys - Awarded Grand Pacific Top Agency status since 2011).
Can merchandise be purchased once in New Zealand? What if I order a jacket and it is the incorrect size?
Yes, all of Grand Pacific tour dates are guaranteed to depart.
Who travels on Grand Pacific tours?
Merchandise needs to be added at the time of booking (or prior to final monies being paid) and can't be purchased once on tour. You will receive your merchandise as part of your documentation pack approximately 2-3 weeks prior to departure. If the jacket is an incorrect size then it can be returned and an alternate jacket can be sent. A $10 postage and handling fee is required for any jacket exchanges.
How many other people will I be travelling with?
Our tours are geared towards the senior market, therefore most of our travellers are between 55-80 years of age. We do of course have clients travelling that are either younger or older than this average age. Due to the nature of our tours we have found that children under 5 years of age are not suitable to travel on our tours. We do offer child rates for children between 5-11 years of age.
What will the accommodation be like on tour?
Grand Pacific Tours have a maximum capacity of 48 people per tour. Small group tours have space for a maximum of 20 people per tour.
Can I arrange pre or post tour accommodation?
Grand Pacific Tours endeavours to utilise the most suitable hotels available in each location to ensure travellers enjoy high levels of cleanliness, comfort and service. In more remote locations, hotel standards may not be as high due to limited choice. As a general rule, all hotels used on tour will have, as standard, the following room amenities; hair dryers, iron & ironing boards, tea & coffee making facilities. Therefore, it is not necessary for you to carry these items.
At most hotels, the bathroom will consist of a ‘shower over bath’ and some hotels do not have lifts (stairs only). Should the hotels on tour change for any reason, we will endeavour to ensure that the alternative hotel is of equivalent standard.
Do you cater for special diety requests?
Standard hotel check-in time is 2pm. If travellers require immediate check-in on arrival, a pre tour night will need to be purchased in order for this to be guaranteed. Standard hotel check-out time is 11am. If travellers require a late check-out due to evening flights, a post tour night will need to be purchased in order for this to be guaranteed.
If you have booked your pre or post tour accommodation with Grand Pacific and Global Journeys, these arrangements will be outlined in your itinerary. Meals are not included and need to be ordered and purchased directly with the hotels. Additional nights may be charged at the prevailing rate by the hotel.
Do I need to tip my Tour Director, Driver or Driver guide?
Room and dietary requests are limited and cannot be guaranteed. Dietary requests are limited to Vegetarian, Gluten Free, Lactose Intolerant & Diabetic. Religious dietary requests (i.e. Hindu Vegetarian, Kosher, Halal) cannot be accommodated. Any further intolerances needing to be managed are the responsibility of the traveller.
Airlines have restricted dietary conditions which vary. For single travellers paying the single supplement, this covers the sole use of a hotel room. The coach is not single seating and you will be required to sit with a fellow traveller.
New Zealanders, like Australians, do not depend on tips for their income, however tipping in appreciation for extra-special service is at the discretion of the visitor.
Before I depart
What documentation will I receive? When will I receive my travel documents?
This depends on the touring style you are booking. You will receive a Grand Pacific Tours ticket wallet as well as luggage tag, name badge, travel bag, toiletry wet pack and laundry bag. Your ticket wallet includes your flight itinerary (if applicable), tour itinerary, tour questionnaire, Optional Tours Directory, General Information & Frequently Asked Questions Directory, touring map, postcard, customs required resealable plastic bag and an emergency contact card.
How many suitcases can I take?
For travellers residing in Australia, your Documentation Pack is mailed to you by Global Journeys. For travellers residing outside of Australia, your personalised itinerary will be emailed to you and your Documentation Pack will be ready for collection at your first tour hotel in New Zealand.
What should I wear?
All travellers are supplied with a Grand Pacific Tours Travel Bag for personal and small items which can be carried on the coach when travelling. The travel bag is designed to carry a maximum of 6kg (13lbs). Due to limited space on board the coach, please ensure carry-on bags do not exceed this limit.
Each traveller is entitled to travel with ONE suitcase on tour measuring (length + width + depth) no more than 140cm (55”). Ultimate Small Group travellers are entitled to up to TWO suitcases (if airline ticket permits)
Weight limits also apply to luggage due to Occupational Health and Safety issues. Approximately, the maximum suitcase weight allowed is 23kg (50lbs). If a traveller brings more than the allocated limit of luggage, any additional arrangements made to get their luggage to the final destination will be at their own expense.
How much do think we should allow for incidentals?
Whilst on tour, dress is informal and relaxed on most occasions. Smart casual clothes are acceptable at most restaurants. The seasons are more pronounced and the weather is more changeable. In summer, a jacket and sweater should be included in your luggage should the weather turn cooler or you visit higher altitudes.
You can expect some rain, so also include a light rainproof jacket or coat. If visiting during the months of May and September, pack warm winter garments and layer your clothing. You may have the option to relax and unwind in thermal hot pools so don’t forget to pack your swimwear.
We suggest you allow a minimum of NZ $40 - $50 per day per person for incidental cash expenses such as lunch, morning and afternoon tea.

Grand Pacific offers a hotel or airport transfer at the start and end of your tour, or in-conjunction with pre or post accommodation booked with Global Journeys & Grand Pacific. All flight information must be given to Global Journeys at least 6 weeks prior to departure so that transfers can be booked. If you book your own pre or post accommodation then transfers cannot be included.
