Arrive Bergen, Norway

Tour begins at 6:00 PM at Radisson Blu Royal Hotel, Bryggen. A transfer is included upon arrival from Bergen Airport to Radisson Blu Royal Hotel, Bryggen, located in the historic wharf district, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Your hotel blends in perfectly with the surroundings of the harbor and its iconic brightly colored medieval buildings. Dinner is served at your hotel this evening. Stay: Radisson Blu Royal Hotel, Bryggen (D)

Bergen, Norway

Discover cosmopolitan Bergen, on Norway's west coast, one of Northern Europe's oldest port cities, and join our local guide for a walking tour of the historic Bryggen harbor district. A funicular ride up Mt. Floyen provides spectacular views of the port. This afternoon, continue getting to know Bergen and visit a traditional stave church before heading to Troldhaugen, the home of Edvard Grieg, Norway's greatest composer. After your guided tour, enjoy a brief reception and a private piano concert featuring Grieg's music. This evening's special welcome dinner takes place in a quaint, authentic setting at the Norwegian Fisheries Museum. Afterward, embark your yacht Le Soléal and settle in. Stay Seven Nights: Le Soléal (B/L/D)

Olden, Norway

Spend a relaxing morning at sea cruising north en route to fjord country! Tauck's exclusive onboard lecturer, Åsa Övrelid, shares insights and information about the region's geography, marine life, history, economics, politics, and more. A Norwegian native, she lives in Sweden and lectures at two Swedish universities; her talks for Tauck guests are always popular. After lunch onboard ship, disembark in Olden, a village on the shore of Nordfjord. A special experience is waiting for you - take a short hike from the nearby village of Loen to see blue and white Kjenndalsbreen, an arm of Jostedal glacier, the largest glacier in Europe. The sight is definitely worth the walk! A guided cruise on Lake Loen reveals snow-frosted mountain landscapes - remote, untamed, and gorgeous; your boat is chartered exclusively for Tauck guests. Return to Olden to board Le Soléal for dinner. This evening sail on to the village of Hellesylt, on famously scenic Geirangerfjord, this evening. (B/L/D)

Geirangerfjord, Norway

Today may be the most beautiful day of touring and sightseeing anywhere! Disembark first thing in Hellesylt in the stunning valley at one end of the deep blue Geirangerfjord and head off for a full day's touring with a local expert around this UNESCO World Heritage Site. Start your exploration over refreshments at the Hotel Union Øye, a favorite spot for those in the know, perfectly situated in the dramatic glacier-carved landscape. All day the views just keep getting better - as you ride a gondola up to the Sunmore "Alps" and drive through the mountains surrounding Geirangerfjord. Surprisingly narrow, the fjord is banked by some of the steepest mountains on Norway's west coast, rising nearly straight out of the water to precipitous heights, leaving no habitable shoreline. Foaming waterfalls plunge into the water, including Seven Sisters Falls and the Suitor, which face one another across the fjord; the Suitor is said to be trying to woo the sisters! Have lunch at a local fjord-side restaurant before boarding a ferry that takes you across the fjord; you might spot porpoises along the way - or a rainbow, famous here. At the end of the fjord, you'll find the charming hamlet of Geiranger. Enjoy some free time poking around the village. Le Soléal meets you here, and sails out of Geirangerfjord toward Ålesund this evening. (B/L/D)

Ålesund, Norway

This morning disembark in picturesque Ålesund, the most important fishing harbor in Norway, situated on seven islands on the Atlantic coast. You have a choice of activities. One possibility is to join our local expert for a walking tour of the city's Art Nouveau - Jugenstil - architecture; nearly all the historic buildings went up between 1904 and 1907 after a fire had destroyed the town, making Ålesund a leading example of Jugenstil today. Or join us for a spectacular panoramic sightseeing tour, hopping from island to island to take in the amazing views; you'll drive through an intricate network of tunnels carved out of granite, linking this maritime community. Come back aboard ship for lunch and spend the afternoon cruising south, listening to a talk by Tauck's exclusive lecturer, and enjoying the amenities onboard. (B/L/D)

Stavanger, Norway

Welcome to the port city of Stavanger, Norway's oil capital on the oil-rich North Sea and a lively university town. As you get an overview of the city, visit massive Swords in Rock, a powerful symbol of unity and peace that commemorates the battle of Hafrsfjord in 872, when Harald Fairhair united Norway as one kingdom. Step even farther back in time on a guided visit at the Iron Age Farm, an archaeological site where you'll see how the prehistoric people of the Iron Age lived - in long buildings of rock and sod, with animals housed at one end and their owners at the other! Leaping forward a few centuries, take a walking tour of Old Stavanger, a settlement of small white wooden houses from the 1800s set on narrow streets paved by ballast blocks, used long ago as ballast on the ships that sailed in and out of port. The owners of one of these old houses invite you to come inside for a look around. Then it's on to the Norwegian Petroleum Museum, a Stavanger Port landmark, to learn just about everything you ever wanted to know about oil and gas. The afternoon, your yacht sails through Lysefjord. Keep your eyes peeled for Prekeistolen, a mammoth flat-topped cliff overlooking the water. Later, chart a course for Kristiansand. (B/L/D)

Kristiansand, Norway

Enjoy some time at sea taking advantage of the amenities onboard your ship and hearing a talk by our Tauck Exclusive lecturer. Late morning, Le Soléal arrives in Kristiansand, a favorite vacation spot for Norwegians on the southern coast. Discover a bygone way of life on a guided tour at the open-air Kristiansand Museum - 34 old houses, some dating back to 1580, in a rural setting. Return to your ship for lunch or join your Tauck Director for a culinary walking tour, sampling tasty bites at Kristiansand's restaurants and cafés. This may be the day you find out how much Norwegians love waffles! Your yacht sails across the Skaggerak Strait this evening for Göteberg, Sweden. (B/L/D)

Göteborg, Sweden

Arrive in clean, green Göteborg, Sweden's second largest city, laced with canals and dotted with parks. Göteborg's Volvo Museum takes you on a trip through a unique piece of Swedish 20th- and 21st-century history and design. Explore the lively Långgatorna neighborhood, a hive of homegrown fashion labels, indie bands, and craft beer bars - and for contrast stroll along Kungsportsavenyn, the city's elegant main avenue inspired by the Champs Élysées. A private trip aboard an antique trolley gives you a surprising perspective on the city. Before returning to ship, enjoy a reception and a taste of Swedish specialties at a fun local gathering spot. This evening onboard Le Soléal, join us for a farewell reception and dinner as you sail up the west coast of Sweden back to Norway... and Oslo. (B/L/D)

Oslo, Norway

Disembark your yacht in Oslo this morning and set off to discover some of Norway's greatest heroes - from Arctic exploration to the arts. A city tour brings you to the Viking Ship Museum, home to two of the world's best-preserved wooden Viking ships, built in the 9th century, and other artifacts of the Viking period. Nearby, the Fram Museum is a reminder that Norway is an Arctic nation; more than 40% of it lies north of the Arctic Circle, and naturally Norwegians have undertaken many important polar expeditions over the centuries. The museum chronicles some of the most famous, and its centerpiece is the wooden polar ship Fram, used on three historic expeditions, including Roald Amundsen's voyage to Antarctica. Go onboard and take a look around her cabins, lounges, cargo hold and engine room. A guided walk around Frogner Park introduces you to the work of Norway's most beloved sculptor, Gustav Vigeland; more than 200 of his granite and bronze human figures fill the palatial and popular park with life and emotion, capturing the free-spirited sensibility of the Norwegians, their strong connection to nature, and their willingness to embrace the totality of human experience. A guided visit to the Vigeland Museum, the sculptor's former studio, provides a look into his artistic process and inspiration. Lunch is at a local restaurant and the afternoon is free. This evening join us for a farewell reception and dinner at your hotel, a 19th-century landmark in the center of town, situated across the street from Parliament and not far from the royal palace. Truly grand, your hotel was once a home away from home for the renowned playwright Henrik Ibsen. Stay: Grand Hotel Oslo (B/L/D)

Journey Home

Tour ends: Oslo. Fly home anytime. A transfer is included today to Oslo Airport from the Grand Hotel Oslo. Allow three hours for flight check-in. (B)
