Algiers, the capital of Algeria, stands as a beacon of Mediterranean charm and historical depth. The city's Casbah, a UNESCO World Heritage site, offers winding alleys and Ottoman palaces, telling tales of centuries past. Meanwhile, the modern side of Algiers gleams along the seafront, where the grand Martyrs' Memorial pays homage to the country's struggle for independence.

Visitors can explore the Jardin d'Essai, a splendid botanical garden that serves as an oasis amidst the urban landscape, or admire the neo-Byzantine architecture of the Notre Dame d'Afrique. The blend of cultural influences – from Berber to French – enriches the culinary scene, making Algiers a delightful exploration of flavours and traditions. Its welcoming atmosphere and rich history provide a unique glimpse into the heart of North Africa.

Perched on a low-lying, palazzi-dotted promontory on Sicily's west coast, Trapani reveals a hint of its medieval past in its historic core's maze of narrow streets. Surrounded by glowing turquoise waters and rugged coastline, it is the gateway to western Sicily's ruins. Ships will dock at Porto di Trapani.

Top Things to Do in Trapani:

  • explore the ancient ruins of Selinunte
  • take a cable car ride to enchanting Erice
  • visit the Archeological Museum in Marsala

Fascinating and wild Pantelleria is the ideal place for those who love to explore. The coastline of this Italian island is full of underwater caves, rocky creeks and cliffs that are just begging to be discovered and hiked along. Sitting in the Strait of Sicily in the Mediterranean Sea, Pantelleria is 100 kilometres (55 nautical miles) southwest of Sicily. This volcanic island boasts marvellous hot springs, other worldly fumaroles (made from volcanic activity) and splendid lakes which are perfect for a dip on a hot day. Head to the local wine cellars to sample Pantelleria’s divine sweet wines which are a speciality made from the local Zibibbo grape.

The Pantelleria Gardens are an ancient construction that were built to protect plants from strong winds. Now a UNESCO World Heritage Site the most well known is the Panesco Garden at Donnafugata. These gardens are made from lava stone and are circular in structure. Head to the slopes of Montagna Grande where you will see Favare which is streams of scalding hot steam coming out of cracks in the rocks.

  • explore the Neapolis Archaeological Park
  • stroll through Ortigia, the historic centre

Giardini Naxos is a picturesque port town on the east coast of Sicily, nestled at the foot of Taormina and home to stunning beaches and ancient sites. Tender boats usually transport visitors from ships anchored in the bay directly to the heart of town, with the tender drop-off point a stone's throw away from main attractions. Once ashore, visitors can relish the town's beautiful beaches, archaeological sites, and tantalising Sicilian cuisine. Giardini Naxos also serves as an excellent base for excursions to the iconic Mount Etna, approximately 45 km (about 28 miles) away, or the historic town of Taormina, just a 20-minute drive up the coast.

Arrives: 07:00

The whole of the Maltese capital Valletta is UNESCO World Heritage listed and occupies a peninsula in the north-east of the island. From the fountain of Tritons to Saint-Elme fort, there are as many majestic streets as there are narrow staircase vennels to explore. The painted loggia and carved corbels on the tall houses will accompany you in your explorations, and you’ll rarely be bothered by traffic.

You can visit the Grandmasters palace decorated with coats of arms and frescoes. Saint-John’s cathedral and the ramparts which have guarded the city since the 16th century are also among the most emblematic sites of the city. Arranged in terraces, the Barrakka Gardens will punctuate your promenade with a green and floral experience.
