Itinerary
Check in at the Taj MG Road. Later, enjoy a guided tour tracing Bengaluru's captivating history, then attend a welcome dinner.
Travel to Mysore, stopping en route at the island fortress of Srirangapatna, the former capital of south India's most powerful 18th-century rulers. Take an evening food tour of Mysore's culinary delights, including masala dosa.
Walking tour visiting some of Mysore's architectural wonders. Tour the Maharajah's Palace, which combines Hindu and Saracenic architecture. Afternoon visit to the Keshava temple at Somnathpur. Return to the Maharajah's Palace this evening to see it illuminated by over 100,000 light bulbs.
Travel to Kabini for an overnight stay at the Serai Kabini, close to the Nagarhole National Park, home to tigers, leopards, crocodiles and vultures. Take an afternoon boat safari in search of wildlife.
Early morning canter (open-sided minibus) safari. Travel to Wayanad, a place of outstanding natural beauty with tropical forests, valleys, waterfalls and spice plantations.
Morning at leisure. Later, enjoy an interactive Keralan cooking class, lunch and a guided nature walk.
Leisurely drive to the Coonoor hill station. Enjoy lunch on the terrace of the Taj Savoy, as well as an afternoon tour of Ooty's botanical gardens, filled with more than 1,000 varieties of plants.
Drive to Ooty and ride the Blue Mountain Railway to Coonoor. The narrow-gauge railway runs through the verdant Nilgiri Mountains. Visit a planter's house for tea and a walk through the plantation.
Travel to Coimbatore and board the train to Ernakulam. Transfer to the Eighth Bastion (or similar) for 2 nights. Remainder of the day at leisure to explore the local area.
Visit some of the highlights of this enchanting port, taking in the architectural styles that blend Arab, Jewish and European influences. View the remarkable, cantilevered Chinese fishing nets, explore the 16th-century Portuguese-built Mattancherry Palace, the Church of St Francis and India's oldest active synagogue. Wander through markets and visit the vibrant Dhobi Ghats laundry houses. Later, go to the Kathakali dance studio to see a traditional performance.
Drive to the backwater region of Kerala. En route, take a cruise on a wooden shikara boat through picturesque waterways. Stay at Coconut Lagoon.
Day at leisure. In the evening, enjoy a farewell dinner.
Tour ends in Kumarakom.
