On arrival in the Argentinian capital, you'll be met and transferred to your hotel. After settling in, enjoy Welcome Drinks. Stay Three Nights: Buenos Aires, Park Hyatt
Enjoy a tour of Buenos Aires before visiting the city's oldest barrio (district). Explore La Boca's colourful houses and picturesque pedestrian street, the Caminito; drive along one of the world's widest avenues, the Avenida 9 de Julio; pass the tree-lined streets of Palermo; and visit La Recoleta Cemetery, where Eva Peron ‘Evita' is buried. Select your Freedom of Choice dining option this evening. (B/D)

- This evening there are four Freedom of Choice dining options. Perhaps enjoy dinner and a tango show, learn to make empanadas during an Argentine dining experience, take part in a Craft Beer tour or dine in style at the Alvear Grill.
This morning after breakfast, embark on your chosen sightseeing activity for the day. This evening we'll meet for a ship briefing in anticipation of our exciting cruise. (B)

- Perhaps head to the island town of Tigre and enjoy a cruise over the waterways of the Paraná Delta. Alternatively, explore the extraordinary history of the city's vibrant street art culture, discover the Parisian character of Buenos Aires' architecture, or visit an Estancia to learn about gaucho culture and enjoy a horse ride.
Fly to Ushuaia and transfer to your luxury expedition ship, Le Soléal. Be greeted by your Expedition Leader and a team of expert naturalist guides. Settle in before enjoying the Captain's Welcome Dinner. Afterwards, head to the deck to take in the stunning scenery of the Beagle Channel. Stay 10 Nights: Le Soléal (B/D)
Sail across the Drake Passage, one of the great travel milestones. Learn about the adventures ahead during informative, interactive and entertaining presentations on the wildlife, history and geology of Antarctica, delivered by your expert Expedition Team. (B/L/D)
On arrival in Antarctica, your itinerary becomes flexible in order to maximise your discovery of this enchanting world of ice and water. Your Captain will charter a course based on the most exciting sights and the most favourable ice and weather conditions. Each day on your cruise you'll enjoy Zodiac rides.
Visit penguin rookeries, seal colonies and keep an eye out for orca, humpback and minke whales that frequent these waters. Head to Deception Island, an active volcano and once home to a whaling station. You may also get the opportunity to stop at the Port Lockroy scientific base. From here, you can send a postcard with a rare Antarctic stamp. (B/L/D)
Return across the Drake Passage. Enjoy time on board and wildlife spotting. (B/L/D)

We had an amazing trip. Beautiful breathtaking scenery, wonderful interaction with the fauna (penguins, seals, whales, orcas), visiting historically significant sites, Port Lockroy, Danco Island, as well as experienced experts as guides and superior accommodation aboard the Ponant cruise expedition ship Le Lyrial. APT and Global Journeys assisted in ...read more making this a once in a life time memorable experience.
Antarctica - you must visit and soon and no better than with APT and Ponant. The ship was first class, the meals delicious and plentiful and the ‘free’ bar tempting. As a small ship, the Le Lyrial catered for the varied passenger list, all of whom were easy to liaise with and share experiences.
The expedition, yes expedition and not a holiday, was ...read more challenging for some as the twice daily zodiac trips to the mainland involved a dressing up/layering against the cold and somewhat difficult landings (no warm water and soft white sand). The naturalists, experts in a variety of animal, plant, mammal, fish fields, made the trip. Their enthusiasm in their fields excited the passengers to enjoy and learn while away. A visit to Port Lockroy, the British Antarctic station is a bonus. My only concern was pre-expedition in Buenos Aires where several meals were missing, something not encountered with our previous APT trip in Europe.
