The itinerary for this trip was perfect! Monkeys, Jungles and VolcanoesShari Standridge, Saint Louis, Missouri, USA, Feb 2022
The itinerary for this trip was perfect! With 2 nights at each city, we were able to have 1 partial travel day and 1 full day of exploration and adventure in each area. The accommodations were great, and the food was outstanding which was a pleasant surprise! I actually really appreciated that the first lodge in which we stayed had no television read more and the wi-fi wasn't spectacular because it pushed our group to step away from the "comforts" of the cell phones and actually spend time diving into the culture of the area which put us in the right frame of mind for the rest of the trip.
All good, everyone had a great time and the whole package was great. One minor comment, and perhaps this is actually about Costa Rica itself, but none of the places we ate at seemed to do much in the way of kids portions. So, we seemed to waste a lot of food!
Overall we very much enjoyed the trip - we had a good group, and the country is amazing. The only thing that let it down was the standards of maintenance in the accommodation - which were basic issues that should have been easy and inexpensive to fix - and a bit of a lack of leadership from the guide. Better information of availability of card payments read more in the hotels would also have been useful.
The Phnom Penh - Siem Reap trip could be replaced with a flight. Loved the food but would have appreciated a couple of more upmarket recommended options to try out modern local cuisine too. Binh, our guide in Vietnam and Cambodia, was exceptionally good.
Have not travelled with explore for a number of years but the experience was just as I remembered everything sorted and feel you really get under the skin of a country .
Adventure travel and family holidays in the same sentence? Absolutely. You can enjoy just as many exciting and engaging experiences travelling with children as you did when
