Fantastic Holiday   4 , WA, Australia, May 2018
Loved this trip, places we saw, staying in beehive cottages in Alberobello, caves in Matera & all the lovely hotels. Scenery spectacular, quite challenging with steps in parts. Albatross really comes up with very special holidays. Our tour guide Vanessa was fantastic, so knowledgable & great fun.
Worry Free Value for Money Holiday   5 , VIC, Australia, May 2018
Our trip to Sicily was exciting, educational and full of laughter and fun. The weather God smiled upon us and together with 22 fellow Australians and four New Zealand cousins we embarked on our educational and exciting adventure of Sicily. We were thoroughly spoilt by our Tour Leader Vanessa who kept us entertained and informed on all the magic Sicily ...read more has on offer, from the Trulli Houses living in the Matera Caves to the sumptuous meals and breath taking hotels we stayed at in different locations.

My fellow travellers though varied in age were wonderful and together we danced, sang and limped and laughed our way through Southern Italy and Sicily. Our 17day adventure was a wonderful experience my only word of advice is make sure you can climb stairs and steep hills . I am looking forward to another trip with Albatross Tours.
A good trip through parts of France we had not previously visited   2 , NSW, Australia, May 2018
We chose this tour (our second with Albatross) because it covered some sights that we were keen to see (for example Mont St Michel and Chateau Chenonceau) and we like the Albatross system of longer stays at each accommodation.

The hotels were excellent and our tour director was pleasant and well organised but we thought they did show a limited knowledge ...read more of French history. They at times walked too quickly for some members of the group but did respond to requests to slow down. Also some days were too long, not getting into our hotel until around 7.00 pm. This needs attention.

Apart from visiting the places we wanted to see we had some pleasant surprises, such as the beauty of the Normandy countryside and coast. After seeing a few of the great chateaux we would have liked to have seen even more. Most impressive! Overall a very enjoyable tour.
Our first overseas holiday   7 , VIC, Australia, May 2018
I booked what was our first overseas holiday through Global Journeys. I found them to be extremely helpful and very efficient.
Their online checklist worked well and I was able to check updated details of our holiday as we progressed. When our flight was unexpectedly cancelled and we were left with very little information or instruction from the airline, ...read more I contacted our consultant, Jemma, who couldn't have been more helpful or supportive during what was an extremely stressful start to our holiday.

With regards to our tour with Albatross - "The Italian Grande" was an amazing experience. I chose Albatross for several reasons including longer stays, small groups ( we had 26 people), all inclusive activities and their itinerary which read like a dream and included all the destinations (plus so many more) that were on my wish list for Italy. I am thrilled to say they lived up to all that was promised and more.

Their tour guide Prisca was very special, I will never think of Italy without thinking of her sense of fun, love for her country and her dedication to ensuring we all had the best experience possible. While we were in Italy my husband had an allergic reaction and was forced to spend a night in hospital in Italy. Prisca was so very supportive and came to the hospital with us and stayed for several hours until we sorted out what was going to happen.

We travelled in May and were blessed with the most beautiful weather. We also were very lucky to have a lovely group of people to share our experiences. I would hesitate to recommend Albatross to anyone who was interested in group tours. The trip was completely stress free and of a very high standard.
The Tour was Truly Excellent   7 , S.A., Australia, Apr 2018
The Albatross 18 day tour of Spain and Portugal was truly excellent. The tour guide (Darren Wheatley, a multilingual Englishman) was very knowledgeable without being conceited, caring and cheerful. He never let us down in any way.

Just as fortunate, the company was pleasant and enjoyed everything. No grumblers, everyone punctual in the mornings ...read more and after My Time, no one cutting anyone else out. What a difference this must make! And it is one the aspect totally beyond the tour company's control.

We were also fortunate to be travelling in such beautiful weather, late spring. The wildflowers were flourishing in the mountains, the storks were nesting on campaniles and tops of city walls etc, the Spanish and Portuguese were out and about enjoying life. In some places they are outnumbered by tourists but everyone remained courteous and helpful.

This I especially appreciated in the days I had alone in Madrid before the tour began, and in Barcelona after it was over. The frantic preoccupation with earning a living does not seem to have overwhelmed the Iberians as it has Australians.
Every aspect of our trip lived up to, or exceeded our expectations   3 , VIC, Australia, Jan 2018
When we booked our European Winter Wonderland tour we hoped for picturesque villages covered in snow, quaint churches with onion dome spires, sleigh rides while drinking peach schnapps, hot mugs of gluwein and hot chocolate, lakeside views of snowy mountains, snow covered fields dotted with frozen trees, snow ball fights, snow men and toboggan rides ...read more down snow covered alps. Our expectations were high, but every aspect of our wish list was delivered.

Everything from the smooth booking process with Hannah from Global Journeys through to the accommodation, tour bus and our exceptional guide was first rate. We loved the extended stays Albatross tours offer and with just enough free time to do our own thing we could explore beyond the local sites.

We loved this trip so much we are now looking for another winter wonderland tour for next year.
Great trip . Had a lovely time as per our previous trips with Albatross. Tour manager was first rate .   1 , New Zealand, Dec 2017
Would certainly recommend this operator to others. We needed to travel during the Xmas and January period due to work commitments. Also we do not handle the summer heat very well, and have found that the weather in Germany to be pretty good with snow and many fine cloudless days at this time of year.
Brilliant Tour     8 , NSW, Australia, Sep 2017
This is a bucket list tour. Sensational. The tour guide was amazing, the coach and driver were superb. So much food and drinks provided and very tasty. The places we visited were beautiful and the hotels were fabulous. Thank you Albatross.
Delights of Switzerland   4 , VIC, Australia, Sep 2017
A very enjoyable trip through the beautiful alpine countryside of Switzerland. Longer stays and 4 star accommodation throughout the journey was comfortable. Some excursions into the larger cities were not a match to the greenery and mountain alps. The stay at the Lake Garda hotel was excellent. Overall a worthwhile trip if you wish to experience the various delights of the Swiss countryside.
Great holiday!     6 , VIC, Australia, Sep 2017
We recently returned from our tour of the Black Forest, Bavaria and the Tyrol with Albatross Tours. The itinerary featured many interesting sights and fabulous scenery. Unfortunately, the weather was poor for most of the time, but we still enjoyed ourselves. Major highlights - visiting the Alsace region of France, particularly 'postcard perfect' Colmar ...read more and Ribeauville; the Flower Island of Mainau; Neuschwanstein, the fairytale castle of King Ludwig, and Linderhof, a beautiful French Rococo Palace. The forest and mountains were striking, and the small towns were picturesque. All of the hotels were of a high standard, and the included meals were excellent. The hotels were well located, particularly the ones in Fussen and Salzburg. There were 27 friendly travellers in the group. The tour guide was excellent - highly organised and very knowledgeable. A large bus was used, so everyone had plenty of opportunities to 'spread out'. The bus driver was excellent - we always felt safe. We would definitely travel with Albatross again. Global Journeys did a great job making the arrangements for this holiday.
Amazing trip through Croatia and beyond   0 , VIC, Australia, Aug 2017
Too many highlights to review, loved Dubrovnik and the stunning hotel we stayed in. Beautiful scenery throughout the trip. Hvar was out of this world and the resort is highly recommended. Italian Lakes & Tuscany   1 , NSW, Australia, Aug 2017
I was very keen to try 'Albatross' tours, because of the longer stays & thought it would be a more relaxed & better pace tour. The 4 /3 nights stay was very good, however, the pace & time/motion factors felt rushed....perhaps they could review their itinerary, & streamline the tour organisation. Farmhouse dinners were pleasant but not up to other tour ...read more ones I have done. Accommodation was generally, excellent. Incidents, such as the coach breaking down was managed well. Italian Lakes & Tuscany, a wonderful area to revisit again.
Hassle-free Holiday     5 , VIC, Australia, Aug 2017
This was my second Albatross tour in twelve months. Albatross Tours may be more expensive than some other well-known companies however there are many extra things included such as dinner with a drink plus tea or coffee on nine nights. There are no optional tours involving extra costs and the tours are designed for Australians and New Zealanders.

We ...read more stayed at each quality hotel for two or three nights and the earliest we ever had to leave a hotel was 8.30am. Generally we left at 9.00am and were back between 5.00 and 5.30pm. We all had a good rapport with the Tour Leader and the Driver. Our tour leader actually had been involved in designing this tour in conjunction with the Australian firm and if necessary or advisable was able to make modifications to the itinerary. For example, he swapped some activities to avoid having a 9.00am to 11.00pm full day. In doing so we did not miss anything.

On a couple of occasions the order of activities on a day were changed to avoid being outdoor in the rain. If people were spending some free afternoon time in a town the company would arrange to pick them up at a certain time if they so wished. Having done over thirty organized tour I know that many companies do not provide such services. The included meals were all very good and on this tour the final dinner in Dublin was a multi course menu served to first class passengers on the Titanic. Albatross also limit the number of travellers and provide a large coach with plenty of extra seats. By booking with Global Journeys who I have found to be extremely efficient and helpful, I also saved money.
Great first trip to the UK   1 , VIC, Australia, Jul 2017
A very well organised small group tour of Britain and Scotland. Multiple days stays gave it a more relaxed feel than your typical coach tour. Quality historical accommodation added to the enjoyment of the trip with the highlight being a final night stay in a State Room at Leeds Castle. With only 26 people in a 48 seater coach there was plenty of space ...read more to stretch out and getting on and off was quick and easy.
Wonderful Spain   2 , NSW, Australia, Jun 2017
As a three time traveler with Albatross I was as ever very happy with the trip. Every day was a new adventure and the standard of accommodation, the bus, and most of the meals were very good. I hope to do another tour next year!
Wonderfully varied   7 , Australia, Jun 2017
Another superbly blended itinerary from the Albatross crew. Trip crams a great variation of sights & landscapes in, at a relaxed enjoyable pace. Once again hotels were a highlight in their own rights, reflecting the local character & ambience. Bus and driver along with tour guide Eve were exemplary. Always very happy to recommend Albatross and the ...read more booking team at Global Journey's to friends & family. Look forward to planning our next trip with both.
La Grande France, Lake Garda & Tuscany   5 , NSW, Australia, Jun 2017
Many highlights on this combined tour; too many to nominate. France was wonderful and I especially liked the small medieval towns such as Sarlat La Caneda, Les Baux, Avignon and St Paul de Vence. I also enjoyed Cap Ferrat, Nimes, Nice and Cannes, and Provence in general too. What I enjoyed most about the Italian extension was the easy pace; not just ...read more the three and four night stays but the amount of free time. The highlight there was Lucca. Cinque Terre was lovely but I wasn't terribly impressed with Portofino and it was very disappointing that we spent literally 20 minutes in Santa Margherita due to the guide wanting to make sure we caught boats to the Abbey and Portofino because of possible weather changes.

If the itinerary appealed to me I'd travel again with Albatross and if the price was right I'd book again with Global Journeys. The accommodation was a bit mixed in quality and comfort, particularly for those of us travelling solo. In Couiza we stayed at an old chateau, which was charming, but it was not air-conditioned and it was uncomfortably hot, particularly in my room (and two others) on the top floor. Shutters had to be kept shut all day. Too often, hotels put single travellers in some of the worst rooms. We understand they can be small in Europe but while some rooms were nice, others were not.

The weather was warm and sunny and June is a good time to travel as the crowds are not yet at their peak. Fellow travellers are always a mixed bunch but people generally get along okay in all the tours I've been on, including this one.
Natural beauty of Northern Italy     2 , QLD, Australia, May 2017
Stunning Italian lakes, historical walled city of Lucca combined with the beauty of the Cinque Terre. This trip was relaxing with multi night stays in quality hotels. A memorable trip for all the right reasons   1 , New Zealand, May 2017
A superb trip with compatible companions accompanied by Prisca our fantastic tour guide whose expertise and lively personality ensured that we had a fun hassle-free holiday full of fabulous experiences in a variety of Italian cities, towns and villages.
Fantastic Highlights of the South   5 , NSW, Australia, May 2017
What a memorable tour. All of the major tourist attractions as well as some amazing one off experiences, like arriving into Lisbon as the national football team presented with the trophy in front of thousands of fans, or the street procession of the Saint of good health carried by 30 men thru the streets of Seville.
