Glorious scenery - mountains, lakes and forests 2 , QLD, Australia, Jun 2019
My first tour with Albatross and will travel with them again. The itinerary was well thought out, and the hotels were in good, central locations, with character, though some of them had limited, or no, air conditioning, which is sometimes an issue with increasing temperatures in Europe. The group size of 17 was perfect, allowing for plenty of space read more on the coach, which was comfortable, clean and modern.
Great holiday!   7 , VIC, Australia, Sep 2017
We recently returned from our tour of the Black Forest, Bavaria and the Tyrol with Albatross Tours. The itinerary featured many interesting sights and fabulous scenery. Unfortunately, the weather was poor for most of the time, but we still enjoyed ourselves. Major highlights - visiting the Alsace region of France, particularly 'postcard perfect' Colmar read more and Ribeauville; the Flower Island of Mainau; Neuschwanstein, the fairytale castle of King Ludwig, and Linderhof, a beautiful French Rococo Palace. The forest and mountains were striking, and the small towns were picturesque. All of the hotels were of a high standard, and the included meals were excellent. The hotels were well located, particularly the ones in Fussen and Salzburg. There were 27 friendly travellers in the group. The tour guide was excellent - highly organised and very knowledgeable. A large bus was used, so everyone had plenty of opportunities to 'spread out'. The bus driver was excellent - we always felt safe. We would definitely travel with Albatross again. Global Journeys did a great job making the arrangements for this holiday.
Outstanding Upmarket Tour   4 , Victoria, Australia, Sep 2016
This being my 30th organized tour I can say that I was thoroughly impressed by Albatross. Maritza the Tour Manager was delightful and exceedingly well organized. The tour was well paced and the amount of time spent at places worked well; this being an aspect that I have criticized on many tours. The hotels were all of a high standard, had character read more and were conveniently sited. The meals that were included were most enjoyable. The tour cost also covered one drink plus tea or coffee with the dinners that were part of the tour. I certainly hope to travel with Albatross again in the near future. Albatross do not have optional excursions.
Our first coach tour, and we enjoyed it 5 , VIC, Australia, Jul 2015
This was our first coach tour, and we enjoyed it. Great to wake up each day and not need to worry about where we are going and how to get there. The tour manager was excellent - extremely professional and organised. Added value constantly throughout the tour, and coped well when the one of the touring party was pick-pocketed. Coach and driver both read more excellent. Accommodation was mainly good, and one or two hotels were excellent (eg in Salzburg and Hohenschwangau). However the Triberg hotel was only satisfactory (very small room, tiny bathroom, hot and noisy, patchy food quality, wifi only worked in lobby, and some staff seemingly disengaged). A lot of coach travel and similar quaint villages in early stage of tour, but this settled down after Triberg and some of the days/excursions were really excellent.

We went to places and did great things we may not have had we been travelling independently. The only real 'clunkers' were the Crystal World visit (abysmal) and the steam train (too long, just for kids?). Most food and wine only average compared with our experience in Melbourne, and dinner choices could have been more varied. Would have been happy to pay supplement to improve dinner choices. Most breakfasts good except for the chocolate in the muesli! Albatross did a great job selecting the tour party, they were really a terrific and friendly bunch.
Very impressed with the trip 2 , VIC, Australia, Jun 2015
We really enjoyed our tour - it was very well organised and very interesting. Some of the scenery was just incredible - the gardens on Mainau Island, riding the cable car at Kirchberg, Hallstatt in the Austrian Lakes district, etc Too many sights to list them all! Our Tour Director, Maritza, was excellent - efficient, knowledgeable and always showing read more a sense of humour. She even gave us a macaroon and a local cherry brandy! She maintained a positive outlook even when we experienced a couple of rainy days. Minor suggestions - travellers should be pre-warned of the exorbitant WIFI charges at the Frankfurt Hilton. The daily charge of EUR25 is a rip-off! The visit to the Swarovski Crystal World is a 'chicks outing' - the guys should have been left at the nearest bar! Overall we were very impressed with the trip and would recommend it highly. Thanks Albatross!
A safe and pleasant tour with Albatross 7 , Australia, Aug 2014
Global Journeys were excellent to deal with, Hannah was there to answer the dozens of questions we asked of her. We experienced a safe and pleasant tour with Albatross, but regrettably had some issues. Although it was our choice to travel in September, is it not the best time to tour the Alps and Austrian Lakes because of the declining weather conditions. read more Berchtesgaden and Hitler's Eagles nest was a disappointment owing to the of the inclement weather. On the Island of Mainau shrubs and blooms were not at they best coming to the end of the season, also lots of mosquitoes owing to the damp conditions. The tour director was knowledgeable in European and local history, and quite reserved. Found he was not mindful of the slower walkers of the group, often proceeding ahead, causing concerns to them when having to cross junctions and intersections, remembering to be aware of the change of traffic directions in Europe. All the hotels were of good standard, the Kirchberge Hof was excellent in all aspects of service. The NH Salzburg, failed to accommodate all guests at breakfast. The included dinner on our arrival was abysmal with poor service. The Frankfurt Hilton was most accommodative, allowing to access to our room prior to the 2.00pm booking in time. Albatross includes the cost of excursions in the overall price, not such a good idea, as not all excursions suited everyone, there is no recompense if an excursion wasn't taken. We declined two walking tours so lost out. During a wine tasting which was included in a full day excursion, there was no alternative drink offered to the 'non wine drinkers' therefore felt totally excluded. The farewell dinner was a let down, not only was the meal less than average, group arrived at 7.00pm but were required to take our leave by 9.00pm. Some sort of evening entertainment/event or tour may have been a good option. No, would not use Albatross Tours again.
A wonderful experience 2 , Australia, May 2014
The Black Forest & Tyrol tour with Albatross was a wonderful experience. Spending 3 & 4 nights in each town was good, even though it did mean back tracking a few km on some days. As the coach travel time was not long on any day, this wasn't a problem for us. The tour was not a cheap one but the inclusions meant that we hardly had to spend on extras. read more We would definitely travel with Albatross again.
We saw so much and experienced so many sights 1 , Australia, Jun 2013
This tour was brilliant we saw so much and experienced so many sights beyond our wildest dreams. The places we stayed at were charming with character and the service we received was always a hearty welcome, we loved it. Food! Oh my gosh. Brilliant and the variety and freshness was superb. Albatross Tours has got it together and thank you Global Journeys read more for being our Travel Agent. Professional, prompt and really easy to book with. Thank you so much for making this trip so memorable. Full of cheer!
Extremely interesting and entertaining 3 , Australia, Aug 2012
We found the tour of The Black Forest, Bavaria and the Tyrol to be extremely interesting and entertaining. Our tour guide Reinhard proved to be a great source of local and general knowledge whilst providing subtle humour to keep us entertained. The tour was efficiently organised to the last detail giving us a chance to enjoy every aspect of such breath read more taking countries. The coach was modern, very comfortable and expertly driven by Claude. Accommodation and meals were of a high standard and we can highly recommend Albatross Tours.
