Fly to Saigon, Vietnam's largest and most evocative city. Depending on your time of arrival the rest of the day is yours to start soaking up the local culture. (D)
Contemplate the horrors of guerrilla warfare at the astonishing Cu Chi Tunnels before returning to Saigon. Seamlessly blending past and present, Saigon is the city that is driving Vietnam towards a brighter future. See Notre Dame Cathedral and visit the Central Post Office, both legacies of a colonial past. Spend time at the Reunification Palace and the chilling War Remnants Museum. (B/L/D)
Pop down to Ben Tre to take a cruise through the Mekong Delta. This area is known as the 'Rice Basket of Vietnam' – paddle through the maze of palm-lined canals and enjoy a typical Mekong lunch. Travel to Can Tho for an overnight stay. (B/L/D)
Visit the Cai Rang floating market to see the goods on sale and learn how vermicelli rice noodles are made. Return to Saigon. (B/L/D)
Head up into the cooler climes and picturesque scenery of the highlands to the colonial town of Dalat, stopping at a Bao Loc tea plantation en route. This afternoon is free to enjoy locally grown coffee and the picturesque views. (B/L/D)
Visit the Domaine de Marie Church, the Flower Gardens and an embroidery workshop before boarding an open-air train to journey out through the fantastic scenery to Trai Mat village. End the day with a local coffee by Xuan Huong lake. (B/L/D)
Today, take the winding road down from the highlands and along the coast to Nha Trang, Vietnam's beach capital. Take to the turquoise waters for a cruise around the bay's many islands with a stop off at one to enjoy a swim in the balmy waters. (B/L/D)
Wander Dam market before visiting the Po Nagar Cham Towers and continue on to the city of Qui Nhon. (B/L/D)
The Son My area saw one of the most horrific crimes of the Vietnam War – the My Lai massacre. Pay respects at the memorial placed in honour of these unarmed civilian victims and hear their story before continuing to Hoi An. (B/L/D)
Take a morning walking tour of charming Hoi An – a wonderfully laidback and wilfully traditional town that has managed to retain the charms of a bygone era. Visit a historic family home, the Japanese Bridge, a Chinese temple and the market. This afternoon is at leisure. (B/L/D)
Take the scenic route to Hue over the Hai Van Pass. Once the seat of the Nguyen emperors, dignified and scholarly Hue is the epitome of Vietnam's dynastic past. Visit the Royal Tomb of Emperor Minh Mang, a complex of over 40 monuments surrounded by pools and gardens. (B/L/D)
Take a drive to the imposing Imperial Citadel to explore. Cruise along the Perfume River to Thien Mu Pagoda after visiting the charming An Hien garden house. (B/L/D)
Exuding a wonderfully exotic aura, Hanoi is the perfect combination of old Asia and new. Fly here to admire the collections of the Fine Arts Museum and take a cyclo through the atmospheric tangle of streets that make up the Old Quarter. Later enjoy a flavourful Vietnamese coffee. (B/L/D)
Explore the Ho Chi Minh Quarter, where you will pass the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, visit the Stilt House, One Pillar Pagoda and the Temple of Literature. (B/L/D)
Spend the day aboard your comfortable cruise boat sailing through the awe-inspiring beauty of Halong Bay. You'll even explore one of the bay's many caves. Spend a night on-board before returning to Hanoi the next day. On your last evening, attend the Quintessence of Tonkin show, a spectacular open-air performance celebrating the rich history of northern Vietnam. (B/L/D)

- Muong Thanh Saigon Centre, Saigon (4 star): Muong Thanh Saigon Centre Hotel is situated in District 1. Rooms are equipped with a flat-screen TV and have a private bathroom fitted with a bath or shower. For your comfort, you will find bath robes, slippers and a hairdryer. Guests can enjoy the on-site bar, indoor swimming pool and free WiFi.
- Kim Tho Hotel, Can Tho (3 star): Located in the heart of the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho, the Kim Tho is a smart hotel with river and city views. The restaurant serves Vietnamese and western food, and has a coffee shop and bar, as well as free Wi-Fi in public areas. - Seagull hotel, Quy Nhon (3 star): A modern edifice right on Quy Nhon's beachfront, the Seagull is a four-star hotel. It's 107 rooms are simple and comfortable, complete with balcony with sea or city views. Private bathrooms offer all of the modern amenities. With easy access to the beach, the hotel also has a swimming pool and gym along with relaxing spa facilities.
- Emm Hoi An, Hoi An (4 star): This light, bright and stylish hotel, perfectly located for all of Hoi An' s attractions, perfectly combines French colonial and Vietnamese architectural elements. 92 innovatively-designed guest rooms are spacious and have views over the pool, gardens or street – little pops of colour make each room bright and airy. The ensuite bathroom has a shower, and there are little extra touches such as bathrobes to enjoy. The hotel's facilities include a contemporary bar and restaurant, while there is a large swimming pool and lush, tropical gardens to explore.
- Emm Hotel, Hue (4 star): Well-located in Hue' s city centre, the Emm Hotel is a contemporary, comfortable hotel. It has gardens and a swimming pool and 2 restaurant options, serving authentic Hue dishes, Vietnamese food and international fare too. Bedrooms have large windows (some also have balconies), a bathroom with shower, television, minibar and kettle. You are also provided with slipper and a bathrobe.
- Muong Thanh Hanoi Centre, Hanoi (4 star): In the atmospheric area around Hoan Kiem Lake, the Muong Thanh offers stylish and comfortable accommodation in a great location. Surrounded by shops, restaurants and street food, the hotel has free Wi-Fi, a spa, bar and restaurant serving local dishes. Bright and spacious rooms come with city views, an en suite bathroom with bath or shower, plus air-conditioning, safe, television, minibar and tea and coffee making facilities.
- Emeraude Classic Cruises, Halong (4 star): A replica paddle steamer that oozes a nostalgic charm of bygone Indochina, the Emeraude brings a timeless elegance to the waters of Halong Bay. With classical brass fixtures and warm, characterful cabins, the ship serves up fusion cuisine in its restaurant, a range of drinks at the bar and offers relaxation on the sun deck. There is also a spa, Tai Chi and cooking classes and Wi-Fi. Whilst some cabins have a private balcony, all have air-conditioning and an en suite bathroom with shower.
- La Sapinette Hotel, Dalat (4 star): Located near the centre Dalat's famous Liang Biang Plateau, and a short drive from the central market. The accommodation combines a first class traditional French Art Nouveau design with a modern convention centre. The 91 rooms have all got a fully equipped mini bar, cable TV, full bathroom amenities and complimentary daily bottled water. The hotel offers guests a fully equipped Gym, Sauna and Steam Bath as well as a Spa and Soothing Massage centre.
