Itinerary

Arrive in Buenos Aires, where we'll meet you at the airport and transfer you to your hotel.

Tonight enjoy a Welcome Reception and cruise briefing at the hotel, to prepare for the exciting adventure ahead. Stay Two Nights: Buenos Aires, Palladio Hotel Buenos Aires MGallery

Your in-depth tour of Buenos Aires commences this morning along the Avenida de Mayo. See the Casa Rosada, seat of Argentina's government; the city's cathedral; and the Cabildo, Buenos Aires' colonial-era city hall. Later, explore the barrio of La Boca, with its famously colourful pedestrian street, and travel along Avenida 9 de Julio. (B)

Insider Experience: Visit Cafe Tortoni, an amazing coffee house with a rich history. Here, indulge in coffee and a selection of Spanish delicacies.

This morning after breakfast you'll board your flight for the southern town of Ushuaia, known as the gateway to Antarctica. Here, your Expedition Ship, the MV Ocean Atlantic, is waiting for you to board.

This evening set sail across the Drake Passage towards the South Shetland Islands and Antarctica. Stay Nine Nights: MV Ocean Atlantic (B/D)

Today is spent at sea, as you make your way southwards. The excitement builds as Antarctica's wildlife begins to come into view. Keep both eyes open for birds, such as albatross and petrels, and perhaps your first sightings of penguins, seals and whales. Perhaps take the time to partake in a photography workshop on board, in preparation for your excursions. Below deck, enjoy chef-prepared dining in the onboard restaurant as you settle into life on the open water. (B/L/D)

Today is again spent at sea.

Continue your wildlife spotting on deck, warming up with complimentary hot drinks when needed. You may also like to enjoy some of the lectures on board, which range from the history of the polar explorers to the impact of climate change on the Antarctic and its wildlife. The continent's incredible geology and biology will also be covered. (B/L/D)

Enjoy your first Insider Experience during a Zodiac excursion this morning. The captain expertly navigates the outside conditions to provide trouble-free landings, which offer access to these enthralling landscapes. Only in this way, can you enjoy the wealth of captivating scenery and wildlife encounters available in such remote locations. (B/L/D)

Insider Experience: Enjoy the first of many excursions today, as you explore around the South Shetland Islands by Zodiac and on foot.

Another day in and around these islands brings more adventure. During today's Insider Experience, explore areas such as Deception Island. You may also head for Half Moon Island, a natural haven for nesting Wilson's storm petrels and chinstrap penguins. (B/L/D)

Insider Experience: Weather permitting, explore remote regions such as Deception Island, where whalers and explorers once landed. Now a base for scientific research, this remarkable volcanic island is ours to explore today. The surrounding waters may just be warm enough for a polar swim – if you're feeling brave!

Take full advantage of the next two days, as you cruise the Antarctic Peninsula, observing a range of wildlife. (B/L/D)

Insider Experience: The planned route for the next two days includes Cuverville Island, where Antarctic fur, Weddell and leopard seals may be seen. You'll also pass by the towering ice cliffs of Gerlache Strait and the Lemaire Channel, where you can watch for humpback whales and orcas – all exceptional highlights of this vast polar region. Along the way, keep an eye out for penguin species, including the chinstrap, the Adelie and the cheeky gentoo.

Keep watch for more wildlife today, as you head for shore and another Insider Experience. Today, you have the opportunity to embark on a kayaking adventure (additional expense, previous experience necessary). (B/L/D)

Insider Experience: Visit a historic British research station to learn about the life of research scientists and the work they undertake there.

It's time to depart Antarctica's waters for our return crossing of the Drake Passage back to South America. Enjoy further lectures on board, work out in the gym, or grab a book from the ship's library to further your knowledge of the white continent. (B/L/D)

Today, enjoy the maritime honour of cruising past Cape Horn. Claim yourself a spot on the observation deck and look out for wildlife. Spend some time in the ship's lounge with new-found friends and reflect on your Antarctic adventure. (B/L/D)

This morning, your ship arrives back in Ushuaia.

Disembark after breakfast and board your flight back to Buenos Aires.

This evening, perhaps try your hand at making traditional empanadas and enjoy some Argentinian specialties during an interactive dining experience (additional expense). Stay Two Nights: Buenos Aires, Palladio Hotel Buenos Aires MGallery (B)

Today is yours to either relax or further explore this enchanting city. Perhaps head to Tigre for a cruise along the Paraná Delta (additional expense). Or take a walking tour to discover the Parisian architecture and influence on display throughout the city (additional expense). (B/D)

Be transferred to the airport for your onward flight. (B)
