Itinerary

Arrive in London and transfer to Rosewood London, where you meet your group and celebrate the start of your adventure over cocktails and dinner.

Accommodation: Rosewood London
Included Meals: Dinner

Arrive in Tunis and transfer to your hotel overlooking the beautiful Mediterranean Sea. After settling in, join your fellow guests for dinner accompanied by a local jazz band. The next morning, a short drive brings you to historic Carthage, once the heart of a powerful trading empire and ancient Rome's greatest rival. Explore its remarkable archaeological sites, including the Punic Port, the Baths of Antoninus, and the Cisterns of La Maalga.

Back in Tunis, delve into the old medina to wander through a labyrinth of ancient streets and alleyways. Lavishly decorated with tiles, carved stucco and marble, they lead to historic palaces, hammams, mosques and madrasas. Once a walled citadel overlooking the Phoenician harbor in ancient Carthage, Byrsa is the setting for this evening's scenic cocktail reception, followed by dinner at your restaurant of choice.

On your last full day in Tunisia, select from several Design Your Day options:

  • Journey to the Roman City of Dougga, arguably the most magnificent and intact Roman site in Africa.
  • Visit Sidi Bou Said to walk its cobbled streets and view its distinctive blue and white houses.
  • Explore the Bardo Museum, one of North Africa's most prestigious cultural institutions, famed for its world-class collection of Roman mosaics.
  • Spend a Day of Leisure with the option of a spa treatment.

Your evening concludes with a private showcase of works by some of the country's finest artisans, followed by dinner and entertainment.

Accommodation: Four Seasons Hotel Tunis
Included Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Your private jet now takes you to Nairobi, Kenya, where you overnight at the JW Marriott Hotel Nairobi. The next morning, travel to the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust for a private visit with rescued elephants and their keepers, during which an orphaned elephant is adopted on your behalf.

Continue via charter flight to the Maasai Mara, the crown jewel in East Africa's wildlife crown. Spend the days observing its amazing variety of wildlife, including the iconic Big Five: lions, elephants, leopards, rhinos and Cape buffalo. Explore on game drives, a guided bush walk and even an early morning balloon safari, complete with a private Champagne breakfast served in the bush. You also may visit a Maasai village to meet the nomadic herders who have acted as stewards of this land for hundreds of years.

Witness the impact of A&K Philanthropy with a stop at a local school, where you are the guests of honor at a ribbon-cutting ceremony for a school improvement project, an inspiring moment of giving back and creating a lasting legacy. A wildlife conservation expert shares stories and insights over an informal get-together.

Accommodation: JW Marriott Nairobi
Included Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Arrive at Rwanda's Kigali International Airport and continue by road to Musanze, your gateway to Volcanoes National Park. Set out on your once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to encounter some of the jungle's mountain gorillas, part of a worldwide population of only about 1,000.

Spend an hour in the company of these magnificent creatures as they forage, play or simply lounge amid the greenery, their affinity to humans apparent in every interaction and glance. This is one of the world's truly memorable experiences. An exclusive talk with a Gorilla Doctor reveals the challenges in preserving these critically endangered giants. Pay a visit to the research center established by anthropologist Dian Fossey in 1967 for a talk with a conservation expert.

The following morning, choose a Design Your Day option:

  • Trek to Spot Golden Monkeys, active and playful creatures who live in bamboo trees at the base of the volcanoes.
  • Explore a Local Market to browse a variety of goods.
  • Relax and Have a Massage at your lodge.
Accommodation: Singita Kwitonda Lodge, One&Only Gorilla's Nest, Rwanda
Included Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Take off in your private jet bound for Cape Town. South Africa presents a landscape more familiar, if equally beautiful, with modern cities and tended fields nestled alongside mountains and scrubland. Transfer to the Cape Grace for a cocktail reception featuring Christo Brand, Nelson Mandela's former prison guard, and Mark Berry Peters, whose iconic photographs of Mandela's release were published worldwide. Afterward, enjoy dinner at your choice of one of our curated restaurants.

The following day, immerse yourself in South Africa on your pre-selected Design Your Day activity:

  • Explore the Cape Peninsula on a scenic coastal drive past fishing villages, with highlights including the towering Cape Point in the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve, reachable by steps or funicular, and a visit to sheltered Boulders Beach, home to a charming colony of endangered African penguins.
  • Visit Historic Robben Island, the former prison where Nelson Mandela was held for 18 years.
  • Embark on the Cape Town Art Tour with a drive through Bo-Kaap, a visit to Bronze Age Foundry to meet artists Otto du Plessis and Charles Haupt, and a final stop at Everard Read, South Africa's oldest commercial gallery.
  • Excursion to the Famous Wine Regions of Stellenbosch and Franschhoek, with lunch at one of the wineries.
  • Have a Day at Leisure or a Relaxing Spa Visit to reset your body and mind.

In the evening, celebrate your visit with a special performance by the Ndlovu Youth Choir, the most renowned in South Africa.

Accommodation: Cape Grace, A Fairmont Managed Hotel

Before departing Cape Town, take in the scenery on the drive to iconic Table Mountain and ascend by cable car (weather permitting) for stunning views, then fly on to Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe to experience the awe-inspiring “Smoke That Thunders.”

Afterward, make the drive through Botswana's Chobe National Park to your accommodation at Chobe Game Lodge. In addition to some of the largest elephant herds on the continent, the Chobe plain is home to buffalo, giraffes, kudus and hippos, as well as predators such as lions and leopards, all of which you may come across during your game drives led by your expert wildlife trackers.

Between game drives, relax in one of the lounges, take a dip in the pool or stake out a spot on one of the viewing decks to watch the ever-changing wildlife parade across the river. Head out for a unique sundowner safari experience in the evening, cruising down the Chobe River with a cocktail in hand.

Fly northwest across the African continent from Victoria Falls to Cotonou, the vibrant capital of Benin, where you are greeted with a rousing display of traditional drumming, singing, and dancing.

The next day, explore Ganvie, a remarkable village on water where vendors in dugout canoes piled high with goods conduct a brisk trade. Settle in for a relaxing canoe ride through the waterways of this exotic 300-year-old community, where a band and dance troupe welcome you.

In Ouidah, one of the epicenters of African Vodoun, delve into the origins of this spiritual tradition, born in West Africa and carried to the Americas through the slave trade. Attend an authentic Vodoun ceremony, then after lunch, visit the temple dedicated to the sacred python, revered for its power to bestow vitality and protection and then roam through the Sacred Forest.

Accommodation: Sofitel Cotonou Marina Hotel & Spa
