This was a dream trip for me 4 Corners of Cornwall , Australia, Oct 2013
This was a dream trip for me as I have always wanted to visit this part of the UK. I was thrilled when I came across the Global Journeys website and found this particular tour. I had high expectations and wasn't let down. From the very first day I met two couples who had travelled with Back Road Tours before and had come back for more! I wasn't disappointed. read more The size of the group, the coach, the guide, the accommodation, all of it was top notch. Such a difference driving down beautiful country lanes and visiting coast fishing villages where there is only room for one car, to travelling on endless freeways on a big tour bus. I met fabulous people who have been in touch since coming home and shared such a fantastic trip with them that I will never forget. I would certainly tour with them again. I am happy to have the opportunity to praise Georgie from Global Journeys as she was so very helpful from the start answering all my questions promptly, great friendly and efficient service that I would recommend to anyone.
Our tour was fabulous 2 , Australia, Aug 2013
Our tour of the Orkneys & Scottish Highlands was fabulous with regard to the ancient neolithic historical sites visited, less ancient castles and rugged scenery viewed, good accommodation and knowledgeable and witty tour guide. Our Global Journeys consultant was very helpful in following up on a query regarding tour inclusions before we headed off.
A memorable experience in an awe inspiring part of the world 3 , Australia, Jun 2013
It was a memorable experience in an awe inspiring part of the world.
Excellent coach driver 2 Highlights of Britain , Australia, May 2013
Very laidback, driver very friendly and made good suggestions other than what was on the itinerary for us to see. Suited us, as we wanted to visit villages and see the countryside. Accommodation and meals were a good standard, especially breakfasts.
Coach was rather uncomfortable for a 16 seater 5 Heart of England , Australia, Sep 2012
Fabulous back roads tour as the guide was very informative and obliging (Nick). Had a bunch of Aussies with us so we were very much at home as we knew the 'lingo' so to speak. Would recommend the trip and have done so to who ever we have spoken to. One negative was that the bus was rather uncomfortable for 16 people although it was a 16 seater. Seats read more were very small even for an average person. Hotels were excellent choices and staff were nothing but helpful.
I'd seriously consider another Back-Roads tour 5 La Belle France , Australia, Jul 2012
I loved this tour, the beautiful French countryside, the fascinating medieval towns, the food, the wine, the charming family-run small hotels. The tour guide/ driver was very knowledgeable and helpful. The only glitch was a Sunday lunch stop in a town where almost everything was closed (apparently this was the 1st time the tour has run to this schedule). read more A couple of the hotels were below standard (at Honfleur, and the hotel used by Back-Roads in Paris, the rooms are so small there is barely room for your suitcases). The tour length was also about right, as it was a bit tiring being on the move every day. I'd seriously consider another Back-Roads tour.
I really enjoyed this tour 5 La Belle France , Australia, Jul 2012
Small group, charming hotels, some excellent dining, good choice of scheduled content coupled with some free time, excellent tour guide/driver. Only criticisms are the accommodation in Paris at either end of the tour (not actually part of the tour, but the beginning point, so it seemed sensible to stay there). We stayed there for a few days before read more the tour began. While not spacious, our room was adequate, with a view out over the street. The room we had on our return however, fortunately for 1 night only, was tiny, barely enough room for our suitcases. The other problem on the tour itself, we arrived on a Sunday in a town/city for a scheduled visit to a castle, however there was almost nothing open, and most of the group found it extremely difficult to find anything for lunch. Apparently this was the 1st time the tour had run to this schedule. The accommodation in Honfleur was not of the same standard as the other rural hotels, but I believe Back-Roads is looking at changing this.
