Beyond all expectations, a wonderful ship, fantastic crew and Hendrik our tour director was the best. Poetry 2 was exquisite with great decor and was kept spotless. The only minor letdown was the hotel in Paris where there was a lack of service and long delays in getting room allocation. (After 5 pm before room was ready) What a wonderful experience, read more pity we could not bring the bed and pillows home. Well done Avalon and thank you for giving us such a great trip. Also a special thanks to Hannah for being so efficient and prompt in answering any enquiry we made during booking our trips.
Our whole experience was wonderful. The organisation and execution of it went flawlessly and professionally. A tremendous holiday. Thank you Hannah.
After having been on a couple of ocean cruises with 2000 odd people on board it was such a pleasure to only have 160 fellow passengers. This cruise has changed our minds regarding ocean cruising. River cruises are the way to go! We did however find the excursions a bit hectic leaving little time to actually enjoy the ship. We will definitely cull some read more of the optional tours on our next trip and spend more time relaxing on the ship.
We had an amazing time, a bit of a mix up on the first day so missed out on one of the included excursions, but otherwise fantastic. Staff were so courteous and helpful and we just had a fabulous time.
Staff were excellent particularly dining room, nothing was a problem. A great experience would recommend the trip. The concept of travelling and seeing without the need to pack and move on was excellent, my sort of tourism.
Thank you Michelle for the efficient service we received organising the Country Roads of Ireland trip which my niece Catherine and myself enjoyed in August. We had a little rain but that is to be expected in Ireland, the tour group was a good mix of Aussies, Canadian & US. Katie Vaughan our tour director and Eugene the driver were excellent and Katie read more was very knowledgeable on the history of Ireland. If anyone books a tour of Ireland and is lucky enough to have Katie and Eugene they won't be disappointed. My trip with Avalon Waterways went very smoothly down the Rhine from Amsterdam to Basel. I was very dubious about travelling on my own, but I need not have worried, I met some lovely ladies doing the same thing and we all had a great time and made lifelong friends in the process.
Day trips were very well organised and enjoyed by all 1
Romantic Rhine

I thoroughly enjoyed the Romantic Rhine trip from Amsterdam to Basel in Switzerland. I was very dubious because I was travelling on my own, but I need not have worried because everyone on board made me feel welcome. The day trips from the ship were very well organised and enjoyed by all. My cabin steward was very efficient and nothing was a bother to read more her. All in all it was a great 8 days with wonderful scenery. The transfer from the airport to the hotel run very smoothly and the transfers from the hotel to the ship on embarkation was very well organised.

The ship being quite new was well appointed and always kept very clean. Being able to make tea, coffee or cold drinks at any time in the lounge at the back of the ship was appreciated. The cabin was fresh and modern and the bedding very comfortable. There was always plenty of choice of food in the dining room and the staff in the different areas of read more the ship were always very courteous, friendly and helpful. Organisation was very good and the excursions on land very enjoyable. Overall a very enjoyable experience.
Wonderful! If only you could control the weather. Would like to go on the Mississippi Cruise next year. It would be helpful if you advertised the excursions at the start and ending ports and the optional excursions. We paid a lot of extra money on alternative excursions we hadn't budgeted for.
We thoroughly enjoyed all aspects of the cruise. It was fantastic! The Avalon Vista is a lovely ship and its crew where all terrific. Our cruise director Nynke was excellent and very versatile in daily planning. We do not hesitate to recommend the trip when discussing our holiday with all friends and acquaintances. Many thanks also to our Tour Consultant read more Hannah Campbell for her great assistance in organizing the tour. Once again many thanks for such an enjoyable experience- one we will remember fondly for the rest of our days.

Not our first trip with Avalon and if we do river cruising again will look to them first. Great trip and met all our expectations. All staff were great on board and their expertise and friendliness added to the experience. Global Journey's support from Yvonne, was again great.
The Europeon river cruise has been the highlight of our number of trips over recent years. It was so easy and relaxing and just what we needed after a very stressful time. I had some health issues but the comfort and ease of travel made this the best way for us. The freedom when we came to various towns in the river meant we could make individual choices. read more For my husband who liked more energetic exploring that was available for him and for me the quieter pace of traveling with the group suited me. We also made many ongoing friendships from that time. So glad we went.

Couldn't fault our cruising experience. The staff, service and food were excellent. The service we received from Georgie, Global Journeys was also excellent.
This was our first river cruise so I didn't know what to expect, but I enjoyed the experience very much. The crew was very friendly and professional. Andrej our cruise guide was energetic, organised entertaining and knowledgeable. The food was excellent and we enjoyed the Avalon Felicity and met some nice people while still being able to enjoy some read more quiet dinners along the way. Overall a great experience and we are planning to do another cruise and it would be hard to better our experience with Avalon. Thanks to Georgie Walpole who organised our flights/accommodation and river cruise bookings. Great & friendly service all round.
Well, we have been back 2 weeks now and everyone has wanted to catch up with us! We all thoroughly enjoyed the boat cruise - all very happy. We were very happy with your service at Global Journeys, as we received all documentation on time and were fully informed of all details pertaining to the cruise. Avalon cruise people were wonderful and we all read more agreed that the food was something else again! Really enjoyed the tours, especially the musical museum! No negative comments at all. Those in the family that went on the river cruise for the first time have decided they would love to go on another. Geoff and I are now looking at using your services again for a trip to Israel next year. Thanks again.
We chose this cruise because we wanted an in depth visit to the DDay Landing Beaches. We wanted full coverage with strong military history commentary as my husband is a military historian at the Australian War Memorial. We were very disappointed in the tour provided. We had to choose between the American DDay experience and the British/Canadian experience. read more So the tour was immediately compromised and superficial. And the lunch was awful and took too long therefore wasting valuable time. A third in-depth tour should have been offered - one that left early and returned late so a full overview of the DDay landing beaches could be obtained and lunch eaten on the run. So our rating is based on the DDay Landing tour experience. This is the third time we have written of our disappointment - we have also completed two surveys on the cruise but not had a response. Thoroughly enjoyed our trip. The hotels were 1st class and well located. The room we had in Prague was the largest room we have ever stayed in! The river cruise was relaxing and the boat new, modern and lovely and our cabin excellent. I particularly enjoyed the L'Occitane products. The reception girls were really helpful, particularly Irena and all read more the staff were friendly and helpful. The food on board was in my opinion the best I have had and I have done several cruises. The wines too were lovely! The entertainment was very good - the musicians were multi-talented and personable. Our on board tour guide was helpful, pleasant and with a sense of humour. All the tour guides on shore were full of information and clear in their delivery. My initial contact was with Yvonne at Global Journeys who took me through the whole procedure and was always very pleasant and helpful and answered all my queries in a timely manner. All in all a happy experience so thank you.
I could not rate this trip on Avalon highly enough. We had a fantastic time. The cruise director was fantastic. Would have no hesitation to recommend Avalon to anyone. The boat and the facilities were excellent. We had a problem with a loch being faulty on the first day. We spent two nights off the boat in a lovely hotel in Vienna. Avalon did all read more they could to make that issue as less impact as possible.

From our experience on the Avalon Expression recently we could not recommend Avalon highly enough. They were magnificent. The cruise director was a class act and the food, drinks, service and accomadation was wonderful. The lengths they went to when the first loch was faulty was excellent. I do not believe that anyone on board complained of what read more the alternative was. Two nights is a lovely motel in Vienna was a suitable replacement.

Could not fault Avalon's river cruise, everything was perfect especially the ships crew & tour Director 'Helmet'. This trip far exceeded our expectations.
