Great trip, tour bus driver and guide were first class. Cruise section was very good. Great communication from Holland America from registration and until the cruise began, nil communication from Emerald in the lead up to the tour. All initial communication was very good, but no follow or updates as we were travelling to the starting destination.

This was my second tour booked with Global Journeys. We returned to Global Journeys because of good services in prior tour. And for this second one, we also received similar service. The consultants we engaged were Grace and Georgie who had been very helpful and responsive. I highly recommend Global Journeys for your tour requirements.
The Rocky read more Grandeur tour was good. We quite enjoyed the services and in general, accommodations were ok except for the South Thomson Inn in Kamloops and Emerald Lodge in Emerald Lake. I would rate South Thomson Inn as the worst in this tour due to the location and meals. The breakfast was something like an Australia outback motor inn. Emerald Lake Lodge was unique but I rated it low because of the dodgy pillows that could not support the neck. Not sure why this accommodation would use such cheap pillows that caused me and my wife unable to sleep and had sore necks the next day. Hilton Whistler was the best in term of everything. Places this tour included were good and we really enjoyed the sceneries and other places Emerald Tours took us. The tour director , Rhonda Borton was also nice, professional and very helpful.
The Rocky Mountaineer train ride was very nice with professional crews, good food and comfortable carriages. We felt lucky that we did not upgrade to Gold Leaf class as the Silver Leaf was quite nice. I think the approx US$3,000.- saving for 3 persons was a good decision. But if you really enjoy better food and the booze, the Gold Leaf might be your choice. Since we are not drinkers and have to be careful with food due to our age, the Silver Leaf was sufficient.
The Holland America Line’s Alaska Inside Passage cruise was good especially for those who never visited Alaska on cruise. HA provided lots of food and choices from many countries. Services were very good and super friendly. We were very impressed with the 2 staterooom stewarts, Amir and Cipto who looked after our cabins. These two guys worked so hard and always kept the rooms clean and tidy. Thumb up for the guys.
The optional (extra cost) dinners at Rudy’s and Pinnacle restaurants were worth the money with yummy food and services. I highly recommend if you want to taste something different from the meals included in the cruise package. The all you can have laundry at US$70.- for the entire cruise is also a good option if want to keep your clothes clean.
Entertainments were good and we did enjoyed the dancing performances. The gym was ok but not as good as I expected. But I am more on the weightliftings side rather than treadmills though.
Out of some optional excursions we took, the Tracy Arm Fjord was the most disappointed one. At US$309.95/pax, it was a waste of time and money. The Tracy Arm Fjord was replaced with Endicott Arm. Since I had never seen Tracy Arm, my comment here is about Endicott Arm. It was another glacier, nothing special. It took 6 hours for the return journey and we stayed for about 30 or so minutes to view the glacier. No whale, dolphin nor bear to see. There could be a few seal but I cannot recall exactly. On 27/08/2025, the cruise arrived at Glacier Bay National Park. I can tell you that it is not much different (except the mountain view) from the Endicott Arm and it is FREE. So safe your $309.95 and enjoy Glacier Bay instead. From the Fjord environment perspective, my view is the Norwegian Fjords (like Geiranger) and New Zealand’s Milford Sound are better.

This was a great tour with Emerald. We had an excellent guide and almost perfect weather for our tour in June. The scenery and cruise (on Coral Princess) exceeded our expectations. We were fortunate to have great views of the Glaciers and of Denali. We had hoped to see more wildlife, perhaps a tour later in the summer season might provide better wildlife read more options but then the scenery might not have been as spectacular as it was for us with great snowy mountain views.

The Canadian Rockies and Inside Passage Alaskan Cruise have so many Wow moments - Banff, Whistler, Moraine Lake, Lake Louise etc. We travelled on the Rocky Mountaineer, where the staff were exceptional, but the equipment (aircon and microphone) were not. Lovely food, drinks and scenery. Then on the bus tour under Valerie's guidance and she was excellent. read more Well organised, personable and knowledgeable. So many beautiful stops. We liked having some free days so we could explore on our own together with the included activities. All of our group were nice and very punctual. Food was excellent and hotels all fine.
The Holland America Line cruise was excellent as well and we felt it was worth paying extra for a balcony cabin. The main negative was that we paid for pre and post accommodation with Emerald and after many many weeks, we were told they wouldn't provide it. So we had to book our own accommodation which by then had risen significantly in price. And no explanation. Georgie is an excellent travel agent and always responded very quickly. She gave us a great price too, thanks Georgie.

Just returned from a tour of the Canadian Rockies and Alaska though Global Journeys. Every detail ran smoothly and the scenery, especially in Alaska, was simply stunning; Glacier Bay, College Fjord and Denali were particularly impressive. Just returned from our Canadian and Alaska tour and all aspects of the trip exceeded our expectations. There were so many highlights during the tour but a few standouts include the magnificent views during the Gondola trip in Banff, Scenery on the Rocky Mountaineer, Glacier Bay during the Alaska cruise and strolling through the streets in old Quebec read more City. Accommodation was of high standard throughout the whole trip and Evergreen tour directors and coach drivers went out of their way to ensure everything ran smoothly. Just completed our Evergreen Tasmanian holiday. I thought they could have organised something the day before and the day after arriving in Hobart. It was advertised as a 10 day tour but you had to pay extra for anything you did on these days. Apart from that enjoyed the trip. Thank you to Hannah for hassle free holiday. FAQs
Are tips included in the cost of my Emerald trip?
Yes, Emerald has pre-paid certain tips and gratuities for you, including all drivers, local guides, porters (1 piece of luggage only), and meals included in your tour. Please note tipping is NOT included for meals, drinks, taxis and transfers that are not included as part of the tour.
What is Emerald's Platinum Flexible Booking Plan?
Emerald's Flexible Booking Plan offers you the flexibility to change your travel arrangements or re-book for a more suitable time if needed. Read more here.
What validity do I need on my passport?
All passengers are required to possess a passport valid for 6 months beyond the conclusion of their trip.
Should I provide Emerald with my health and fitness details prior to travelling?
Emerald will supply a Health and Fitness form in your travel wallet. These forms are designed to provide Emerald with instant information if an emergency should arise. These forms will be returned unopened at the completion of the tour. It is not compulsory to fill out these forms but is strongly recommended.
Emerald strongly recommend a visit to your doctor and dentist prior to your tour. If you are aged 70 or over at the Tour Departure date you must provide Emerald with a doctor's letter confirming you are fit and healthy enough to take part in the specified tour including reference to the itinerary, destinations and tour departure date.
You must advise Global Journeys any pre-existing medical conditions that might reasonably be expected to increase your risk of requiring medical attention, affect the normal conduct of the tour and/or the enjoyment of other tour members. You will be required to fill in Emerald's Health and Fitness form and hand it to your Tour Director on the tour departure date.

Can I take prescription medication?
Yes, and it's advisable to pack an ample supply of any medicine you are taking, copies of prescriptions and the telephone/fax number of your doctor. Because of strict drug laws in some countries, drugs you take on doctor's orders should be carried in their original container showing the prescription label. Always keep your medication in your hand luggage.
When will we receive our final documents?
e-Travel documents will be issued approximately 3 weeks prior to departure. If you need to receive your documents sooner, please be sure that you let your Global Journeys Travel Advisor know.
How much luggage can I bring?
The luggage allowance is one suitcase with a maximum size of 76 x 53 x 28 cms (30 x 21 x 11'') and weight of 20 kilograms. You may also carry a small backpack, or the Emerald issued backpack. Additional bags beyond the luggage allowance may incur additional charges and are to be settled directly to the hotel or as required. Please check with your Global Journeys Travel Advisor if you have any specific requirements.
Is porterage included?
Handling and porterage of your luggage (as per the luggage allowance above) is included in your tour. Additional bags beyond the allowance may be charged or it may be the responsibility of the passenger to forward the baggage to another destination. Luggage handling is not included during any independent or non-escorted touring. In this situation, luggage handling and porterage will need to be organised directly with the hotel porters. For security reasons, porterage around public transport including airports and train stations is your responsibility.
Should I attach the Emerald cardboard luggage label provided prior to departure?
No, Emerald request that you please wait until you have claimed your luggage at your destination airport. This will ensure airline companies will not tear off this tag, as it is required to easily identify your luggage for transfer services and hotels.
What happens if my luggage goes missing?
It is highly unlikely for your luggage to be mislaid; however, Emerald suggest if travelling as a couple to pack each suitcase with back up clothes and toiletries for each person. Emerald also suggest writing your personal and tour details on a label inside each suitcase (including name, address, telephone number, departure and return flight details). Write only your name and destination address on outside labels.
What clothing should I pack?
You are on holidays and therefore the dress code is relaxed. However, most Emerald guests do observe smart casual for the many evening activities planned on tour. Perhaps include something a bit more elegant for the Welcome and Farewell dinners, although black tie and formal attire are not needed. Emerald also recommend a mixture of light and medium weight clothing that can accommodate changing weather conditions including a waterproof jacket.

- Jumper/warm jacket/gloves/hat/scarf for cooler mornings and nights
- Swimwear
- Comfortable walking shoes with rubber soles for good grip

What else do I need to pack?

- Travel and travel insurance documentation, and itinerary (make a copy for your emergency contact)
- Cash, debit or credit card and emergency contact numbers if lost or stolen, plus local currency for first day and a money belt
- Spare memory cards and batteries for your digital camera or film in clear plastic containers
- Only those keys needed on return
- Personal medication and prescriptions, extra glasses/contacts and prescriptions
- Sunscreen, lip balm and insect repellent
- Pocket calculator, address book, journal and pens
- Tissues and anti-bacterial hand wipes or hand sanitiser
- Raincoat or umbrella
- Plastic bags for dirty laundry, washing powder and elastic clothesline
- Travel alarm clock, earplugs and sleep mask
- Adaptor plugs (onboard electricity is 220v) mobile phone charger, battery charger
- Face cloth / flannel
- Small torch and batteries (there is minimal lighting at remote locations)
- Overnight bag (for overnight rail journeys)
- First aid kit

What time can I check-in to my hotel?
If your flight arrives before noon (usually 14.00 is check-in time) at the city where your tour starts, the hotel may not have your room available until mid-afternoon. Emerald endeavour to ensure that rooms are ready for your arrival times however this is not always possible, and it is outside their control. Some people use this time to explore the neighbourhood, shop or relax in the hotel public areas. On arrival at your hotel, please check to see if your Tour Director has already posted tour information in the foyer.
Are there likely to be changes to my itinerary?
On certain occasions, for operational or local reasons, it may be necessary for Emerald to change your hotel accommodation or a brochured attraction in a particular location. If this does occur, you will be notified of such changes as soon as possible.
How do I book my DiscoverMORE activities?
Emerald's DiscoverMORE activities are subject to availability, operational and seasonal factors. All activities can be reserved, subject to availability with the Emerald Tour Director whilst on tour unless otherwise stated. Please note a minimum number of people are required for some activities to operate.
Are laundry facilities available?
When staying in a hotel you can generally arrange laundry direct with the hotel although it can be costly. Some hotels will provide an iron for you upon request. There are also laundromats in certain towns and cities. Emerald recommend checking with your Tour Director for more specific details.
Who will be escorting the trip?
Your holiday is a special time and Emerald's Tour Directors make all the difference. From your very first day their warm greetings and professionalism signal the start of a wonderful rapport. For all land tours you will have the services of a Tour Director who has your best interests at heart and will take care of all arrangements for you.
Can Emerald accommodate special dietary requirements?
Yes. If you have not already advised your Global Journeys Travel Advisor at the time of booking, please let your Tour Director know at the start of the tour any special needs or dietary requirements so they can be best accommodated. Remember your favourite food items will not always be available.
What type of food can I expect?
Be mindful that meals on your trip will often reflect the local cuisine and delicacies, which may be different to what you are normally accustomed to. Your dining experiences will certainly enhance your tour and introduce you to the local region and culture.

Is membership free?
Yes. Membership is free and an automatic entitlement once you have travelled once on a Scenic or Emerald cruise or tour.
Are transfers included?
Airport transfers are only available on the first and last day of your tour and at times Emerald designate. Transfers outside these times will be at your expense and must be secured by your own arrangements. Passengers who have purchased Emerald's pre and post hotel accommodation and airfares (through Emerald & Global Journeys) will be provided airport transfers to/from their hotel in the tour start or end city only, on the day of the pre or post accommodation booking. No refund will be given for unused transfers.
If you miss the pre-booked transfer, you will be responsible for making your own way to the Tour departure point, at your own expense. Airport transfers may be group transfers scheduled to coincide with multiple flight arrival times.
