One of the most remote communities in the world, Palmerston Island lies within a brilliant turquoise lagoon formed by a coral atoll in the northern Cook Islands. Six small islets sit within an 11-kilometre-wide ring of reef, creating a protected haven rich in marine life.

Originally known as Avarau, meaning “200 harbours”, the island was sighted by Captain James Cook in 1774 and later named for Lord Palmerston of the British Admiralty. Today, fewer than 60 residents live here, most descended from Englishman William Marsters, a ship's carpenter who settled in 1863.

Today you will become a time traveller, as Scenic Eclipse II crosses the International Date Line, an imaginary line of demarcation that runs from the North to the South Pole, located roughly along the 180th meridian in the Pacific Ocean.

Tonga's Vava'u archipelago, a cluster of around 40 coral islands, enchants with lush landscapes, sandy beaches, and vibrant marine life. Towering Mount Talau offers sweeping views, while local traditions—from pandanus weaving to vanilla extraction—bring the island's rich culture to life.

Scenic Discovery: Today, subject to weather and local authorities' approval, you may have the opportunity to join your Discovery Team to snorkel, kayak or stand-up paddleboard in the calm lagoon.

Arrive on Lakeba Island and explore the charming Tubou Village, where Fijian customs and everyday life unfold against a backdrop of verdant landscapes. Meander through quiet lanes, meet welcoming locals, and enjoy the atmosphere of this lesser-known South Pacific haven.

Somosomo, the largest village on Fiji's Taveuni Island, offers a gateway to some of the region's most spectacular marine environments. Nearby waters are home to vibrant coral reefs teeming with diverse marine life, making it a haven for snorkelling enthusiasts. On land, lush landscapes invite discovery, from cascading waterfalls to serene lakes, providing an idyllic balance of adventure and relaxation.

Your Discovery Voyage reaches its finale today. After a final morning on board your ultra-luxury Scenic Discovery Yacht, farewell the Captain and crew before continuing your journey to Fiji's islands.

Transfer to Nadi for your scenic seaplane flight to Kokomo Private Island, where a warm welcome awaits on arrival. Be escorted to your private villa, where a refreshing drink and ocean views set the tone for your stay. Take time to settle in, whether relaxing by your pool, unwinding on your terrace or enjoying the peaceful rhythm of the island.

Return once more to your villa, where your personal bar is restocked with a selection of non-alcoholic beverages, your clothes are laundered and pressed, and everything is prepared for another effortless day in paradise.

Your final full day on Kokomo is yours to shape entirely ‘your way'. Greet the sunrise with a gentle kayak or standup paddle around the island, watching the light catch the reef and the jungle interior, before returning to a leisurely breakfast. For those drawn to adventure, the morning may bring a deeper exploration of the reef through diving, or a half day of deep-sea fishing with the resort's experienced team, chasing game fish in the blue waters beyond the lagoon.

Back on Kokomo, lunch is unhurried and generous, perhaps taken poolside or in the shade of a palm fringed dining pavilion. The afternoon invites you to slow down completely. Laze beside the resort's pool or retreat to the privacy of your own, dipping in and out of the water as you sip something chilled from your personal bar.

As your last evening unfolds, the resort team can arrange a special private dining experience, like a candlelit table set on the beach, or an elegant in villa dinner that transforms your terrace into an intimate restaurant for two or more.
