Serving as Rome’s seaport since the 13th century, Civitavecchia is located about an hour (80km/50mi) from the centre of Rome. For guests arriving and departing from the airport in Rome, a transfer to Civitavecchia port should be organised ahead of time with your cruise line. Details will be provided in your travel documentation after booking. The port area itself offers diverse dining options, and inside, facilities include accessible bathrooms, Wi-Fi, and a spacious waiting area. The port also offers complimentary shuttle buses to transfer guests between the ship and the port terminal.

Port:Kusadasi

Kusadasi's main cruise terminal is Ege Port, conveniently located just 1 kilometer (0.6 miles) from the city center, a quick 5-minute walk. Its proximity to the ancient city of Ephesus makes it a prime spot for history enthusiasts.

In the town itself, explore the bustling bazaar, where you can find traditional Turkish crafts and spices. Take a leisurely stroll along the seafront promenade, enjoying views of the azure waters and vibrant marina. The 60 km long Dardanelles Strait divides the continents of Europe and Asia, and is the sole waterway between the Aegean and Marmara seas. Along the strait, you will be able to admire hilly landscapes and arid lowlands brightened by fields and groves of olive trees.

Australians, New Zealanders and history buffs will take the most interest in the Gallipoli Peninsula on the northern shore at the mouth of the Dardanelles. The metro station is within walking distance of the port, offering a convenient and cost-effective way to get to the city.

There are taxi queues outside all gates of the airport. A taxi ride from the airport to Piraeus port will take approximately 40-60 minutes, depending on the traffic. The taxi fare (indicative) from Athens airport to the port of Piraeus is 45 euros in the daytime and 64 euros at night (24:00-05:00). Ferries from Piraeus offer connections to all islands of the Aegean, including the Cyclades, the Dodecanese, the Saronic, the North Aegean islands and Crete.

Norwegian fjords cruise 3 , VIC, Australia, Jul 2023
Exceptionally beautiful scenery on planned trips from the ship, made our cruise a memorable event. We travelled from Copenhagen, Denmark to our first destination of Eidfjord (Norway), where a day trip was organised from the port to view, waterfalls and stunning terrain. Geiranger was our next destination and again we sailed up the fjord passing the ...read more beautiful waterfalls (the famous Seven Sisters and The Suitor), to stop at a town with steep surrounds. In contrast, we then visited Ålesund, being taken on another bus trip to view local picturesque sights. Gothenburg (Sweden) was our final stop. Here, we visited the town, took a canal ride and on returning to the ship, visited the close by Volvo museum. Tractors, trucks, vintage and concept cars were all on show and most interesting to read about.

Oh how we've just thoroughly enjoyed 24 days cruising the Scandinavian seas complete with Iceland. Global Journeys helped with flights and the cruise and all went without a hitch. I can highly recommend them.
