Leave Broome this morning and head to the Boab Prison Tree, believed to be 1,500 years old. Continue along the Gibb River Road to Windjana Gorge, where ancient marine fossils lay embedded in the gorge walls. Next it's on to Tunnel Creek, Western Australia's oldest cave system. Visit Parry's Lagoon this morning, home to an array of birdlife. Next, it's on to Wyndham, where you'll soak up sweeping views across Cambridge Gulf and the five rivers that flow into it from Five Rivers Lookout. Follow the Gibb River Road through some of the most remote and rugged landscapes in Australia this morning. After crossing the mighty Durack River, turn north onto Kalumburu Road, a 267-kilometre stretch of unsealed road which runs all the way to Western Australia's northernmost settlement, Kalumburu. Stop for lunch at Drysdale River Station, about 60 kilometres after the turnoff.
