Itinerary

Embarkation from 4:00pm

Historic Budapest is the starting point of your European cruise. After embarkation, enjoy a Welcome Cocktail and Dinner.

Evening cruise along the illuminated skyline of Budapest

The magnificent Danube metropolis lures with an excursion program that leaves no wishes unfulfilled: In the morning, a city tour offers you the opportunity to explore the splendid sights of the two districts, Buda and Pest.

In the afternoon, a culinary highlight awaits you in Budapest. On this special tour, you'll discover the unique flavors of Hungarian cuisine. From traditional goulash dishes to sweet treats like strudel and chimney cake – experience the variety of Hungarian specialties. An experienced guide will lead you through local markets and hidden restaurants, where you'll learn about the history and culture behind each dish. After dinner, you'll leave Budapest, but not before enjoying a scenic evening cruise, where you can admire the beautifully illuminated buildings of the city and enjoy a colorful folklore program on board.

Gothic-baroque old town of Bratislava

After lunch, arrive in the capital city of Bratislava, Slovakia. Join the tour of Bratislava and see the charming old town, the former coronation cathedral for Hungarian kings and visit the famous castle hill. Shortly before midnight, your ship departs from Bratislava and heads towards Vienna.

Walk through the gardens of Schönbrunn Palace

Enjoy the sights of Vienna on the “Imperial Discovery tour“ tour, including the Ringstrasse, the Vienna State Opera House, the Museum Quarter and more. In the afternoon, venture to Schönbrunn Palace. Home to the Habsburg Royal family who ruled the Austro-Hungarian Empire, Vienna wears its historic wealth and grandeur on its sleeve. In the evening, opt for the “Sound of Vienna“ concert and listen to popular pieces from Vienna's classical era at a local salon.

Cruise along the romantic Wachau Valley

In the early morning, dock in Dürnstein, one of the most famous wine towns in the Wachau Valley and famous for its iconic blue church. Explore the romantic area on your own or join a guided city tour, which ends with a wine tasting before you return to the ship for lunch. Contine to Melk/Emmersdorf and spend the afternoon discovering the magnificent Benedictine abbey of Melk — the largest in Austria.

Culinary Highlights in Passau

In Passau, not only three rivers converge, but also the culinary traditions of past eras. On a delightful tour through the historic center, you'll savor the flavors of the city – from Bavarian delicacies to Austrian and Bohemian influences. As you wander through winding alleys and admire the baroque squares, the unique charm of this Three Rivers City unfolds on your palate as well.

Brewery and tasting

In Regensburg, a city tour in the morning will lead you through medieval streets to some of the city's most impressive landmarks, such as the Town Hall and Porta Pretoria. The highlight of the day is a visit to a traditional brewery, where you'll learn about the art of brewing beer and enjoy a tasting of different regional beers. After this delightful experience, you'll return to the ship, which will depart promptly for lunch and continue its journey for the rest of the day.

Medieval old town & World War II history

The next stop on your journey is Nuremberg, Bavaria's second-largest city and once a significant town in the Holy Roman Empire. In the morning, you'll explore the city's main landmarks on a tour and have time to purchase souvenirs before returning to the ship for lunch.

For those interested in the city's more recent history, in the afternoon, you can visit the Nuremberg Documentation Center. Located on the former grounds of the NSDAP's Reich Party Rally, the center features a memorial that is open to visitors. In the evening, the ship departs for Bamberg.

Cruise along the Rhine-Main-Danube canal

After passing through the Main-Danube Canal, you'll reach the ancient imperial and episcopal city of Bamberg in the morning, whose historic center is now a UNESCO World Heritage site. On a guided city tour, you'll discover the charming town with its grand Baroque facades and idyllic half-timbered houses. Alternatively, you can join a bike tour through Bamberg, part of our Amadeus Active Program, and explore the town's fascinating nooks and crannies.

Wine tasting & historic half-timbered houses

Around breakfast time, your ship arrives in the romantic episcopal city of Würzburg, nestled between gentle hills and vineyards. During a city tour in the morning, you'll discover not only the cultural highlights of the city but also its culinary delights through a wine tasting before returning to the ship for lunch.

Culture and history enthusiasts can enjoy an afternoon excursion to the charming old town of Rothenburg ob der Tauber before the ship departs from Würzburg in the early evening.

Visit to the glass museum in Wertheim

The charming town of Wertheim is the next stop on your journey. After breakfast, you can join a combined city tour of Wertheim and Miltenberg, where you'll enjoy the romantic medieval streets and half-timbered houses and visit the Wertheim Glass Museum.

The excursion ends in Miltenberg, where the ship, with guests who remained on board, has already arrived. The afternoon will be spent on board, where you can enjoy a spectacular view of the passing river landscape.

Passage of the Loreley

After a hearty breakfast, your ship will dock in the picturesque wine town of Rüdesheim. Here, before lunch, you'll have the option to either explore the famous Drosselgasse on your own or join our guided city tour, which includes a visit to the Music Cabinet – a unique museum bringing the history of music automata to life.

Alternatively, you can take an excursion to experience the Asbach Brandy and the charm of Rüdesheim. Visit the renowned Asbach Distillery and learn about the art of brandy production.

In the afternoon, make sure to head to the sun deck, as you'll pass one of the most scenic sections of the Rhine – the legendary Loreley. Shortly before midnight, you'll reach the Rhine metropolis of Cologne.

Siebengebirge National Park & Drachenfels castle

Today, you'll spend the day in Cologne, a city with a rich and varied history, home to world-famous landmarks, which you can explore on a city tour in the morning.

In the afternoon, nature lovers will be in their element. The excursion "National Park Seven Mountains with Drachenfels Castle" takes you to Germany's first nature reserve and its castle ruins, offering a spectacular view of the picturesque Rhine Valley.

On the penultimate evening of your journey, the captain invites you to an elegant gala dinner as your ship departs from Cologne and heads toward the Netherlands.

Canal boat tour in Amsterdam

The next morning, you'll have already arrived in Utrecht in the Netherlands. After breakfast, join us for a tour to Amsterdam with its enchanting blend of old-world charm and contemporary allure. Cruise through the lovely, verdant canals of Amsterdam while learning more about the city's history and significance.

After lunch on board, you can visit Waterland in North Holland, where you will stop in the charming fishing village of Volendam and the equally picturesque town of Edam. Renowned for its cheeses, this is the perfect spot for a cheese tasting (included in the excursion). Alternatively, you can join a bike tour through the idyllic countryside surrounding Amsterdam to actively explore the Dutch landscape.

In the evening, a lively Shanty Choir on board will add a musical touch to your evening while the ship remains anchored in Amsterdam.

We bid you farewell after breakfast. We hope to welcome you again soon!

Why pay for other people’s drinks? Why pay for shore excursions that don’t interest you? Family-owned Amadeus has spent 40-years' perfecting the balance without compromising quality. Beer, wine and soft drinks at lunch and dinner, but not during the day. Only pay for the shore excursions you want. Book an excursion package more in advance for a discount or book individual excursions as you go. Gourmet dining, wi-fi, bottled water in cabins and of course one of the most luxurious five-star fleets on the European waterways. To quote a regular repeat guest “Amadeus are fantastic. A really great product and the crew are all so beautiful”. We look forward to welcoming you aboard.
