Yes, we visit some amazing places that children will love, however our tours are not geared to cater specifically for children. Most of our passengers are retirees, generally aged 55 and over. A parent or guardian must accompany children at all times whilst on tour. Children travel at adult fares.
Our maximum group size ranges from 19 to 26 passengers. Each itinerary page displays the group size for that particular journey.
Most of our tour itineraries contain guided sightseeing walks to natural attractions. As such, passengers are required to have a reasonable level of fitness in order to participate. Walks on tours vary in length, but typical tour walks include steps up to a lookout or vantage point, shorter walks ranging from 100m – 400m and longer walks and hikes ranging from 2 - 5km.
Walks can be over uneven, natural terrain and some may be over slippery rocks. Walks are undertaken during the day and can be exposed to full sun. If passengers feel they are unable to participate in the walk on the day, alternative arrangements will be made with adequate provision for passenger comfort and safety.
Yes, a single supplement applies for solo passengers travelling on their own. You will then have the room to yourself.
You can advise that you are willing to share a room with a stranger. In this case, you will still pay the single supplement but one month prior to travel, you will be contacted if there is someone of the same gender who is also willing to share. If you both agree to share, each single supplement will be refunded. Due to privacy, we cannot disclose any information about the other guest. You're unable to change back to a single room once this has been arranged.
For breakfast a variety of cereals are available each day, with a cooked breakfast some days. Lunch consists of freshly made sandwiches and wraps. Dinner is a hearty hot meal cooked in our camp kitchen or roasted over the coals in a camp oven.
Yes, in partnership with Outback Spirit your Global Journeys Travel Advisor can book additional accommodation either side of your trip at the same hotels you'll be staying at on tour.
The Outback Spirit touring season encompasses the best time of the year to travel. Peak season in Australia’s outback is during the winter months with the shoulder season in late autumn and spring. Cooler destinations such as Tasmania are ideal in spring and summer, East Coast Islands peak in spring as do the wildflowers of Western Australia.
Yes, this is possible as long as your flights coincide with your Outback Spirit tour. We feel travellers often like to acclimatise before the tour, so we recommend arriving a day prior to the tour departure. It helps ease your angst if the flight you have booked is delayed and the tour is departing on the same day.
We'll send your final tour documentation 2-3 weeks prior to departure. Included with your tour documentation will be Outback Spirit luggage tags and a regional touring map. Your final tour documentation will include pick up and drop off details for your particular tour.
Yes, however the only items that you will need to pay for are souvenirs and dinner drinks with your evening meal. EFTPOS facilities are available at each property, and at most galleries and souvenir shops.
You will be responsible for putting up and taking down your own tent and sleeping equipment. Your crew will demonstrate the setting up of the tent on the first night of camping. It is expected that passengers are able to assemble and disassemble their own tents.
Outback Spirit provide your tent, stretcher bed, self-inflating mattress, and a new sleeping bag for you to keep. The sleeping bag is rated to -5°C, flannelette lined with hollow fibre filling. The stretcher bed sits 40cm off ground and is 2m long. Head torches are supplied. You will need to bring a pillow, and an inner sheet if you require one.
