Great walking in beautiful part of Italy     0 , ACT, Australia, Oct 2023
Good range of walks with great guide. Staying above main tourist areas of the Amalfi Coast which enabled you to escape the main tourist crush, though great to visit these as part of the itinerary walks. Shorter walks on this tour compared to some tours but higher intensity with lots of steps (often down) which tended to be uneven so can be challenging. ...read more This is the most popular tour on the Exodus list, with 3 walking groups doing this trip at the same time. The walks were coordinated so each group took a different route each day but quite busy at the accommodation with that many groups ‘on the go’. The day spent on Mt Vesuvius including walking the edge of the crater and visiting Pompeii was amazing- great local guides making these times special.
Classic Tuscan views     0 , ACT, Australia, Sep 2023
Great week of walking based at an agriturismo on the edge of Chianciano Terme. Welcomed and looked after well at the accommodation with daily briefings on the walking route as well as gps map, tips for lunch options and other things to do on the rest day. Iconic walks around vineyards, olive groves and hilltop towns - quite stunning!
Lovely Malaysia   2 , QLD, Australia, Oct 2022
From booking through Global Journeys to the final minute of the tour I could not have asked for better communication, assistance, value for money or support. Georgie from Global Journeys was helpful and readily contactable when minor issues arose. Our two tour leaders in Malaysia were excellent - with different personal styles but with unending support, ...read more encouragement and getting the best out of the tour. This was my first Exodus tour and would recommend them to anyone. For one person on our tour this was her 27th Exodus tour which, to me, says it all. A wonderful tour with a wide range of cultural, scenic and people meeting opportunities.

Georgie, just a quick note on the flights back - as you know the original ones didn't have any baggage included but I'm sure that's on your radar now. And the time for transit between returning from Langkawi Island and Brisbane Australia was reasonably short. Given how big KL airport is and the fact that we needed to get on a scheduled bus to move between arrival and departure it was a close call to make it. I realise that the Langkawi leg works for the tour participants from the UK but worth letting Brisbane bound Aussies that they need to move without delay and hope the bus works for them. Thanks also for arranging that I could join the two transfers.
Hassle free walking in a beautiful part of the Swiss Alps     0 , ACT, Australia, Sep 2022
This was a self guided tour based in Kandersteg in the Bernese Oberland region of Switzerland. This was my first self guided walking trip so I wasn’t too sure what to expect, but the operators (Exodus with Headwater) made it as hassle free as possible. Great hiking route notes and a GPS map for each hike we’re provided before departure. On the evening ...read more of arrival in Kandersteg, the hotel operator gave an overview of the week and provided additional hard copy maps and ideas of how we might like to tailor the week to suit our preferences, weather conditions etc.

The accommodation and meals were good, with buffet breakfast, dinner and a lunch station set up each morning to enable us to make a sandwich and grab a piece of fruit to take for lunch. The walks were varied, with a mix of walking from the town and taking a chairlift, mini-bus or local train up to the start of the hike. The instructions were great, paths are well signed and the GPS map helped if you still weren’t sure of which direction to head. Overall a great way to walk in the Swiss Alps - the prep work is done and you just have to decide which walk you want to do on which day. Kandersteg is also a beautiful spot, a small resort village in a stunning setting.
Classic Dolomites   0 , TAS, Australia, Aug 2022
All-round excellent tour. Fabulous scenery, lovely group, great guide (Jordan), gorgeous characterful hotel (Hotel Adler) and the organisation from Exodus was excellent. Thank you!
Northern Portugal (Moncao to Porto)   0 , BC, Canada, May 2022
I would not do this trip again. The nature and style of the trip is not what I look for. There was way too much off-road riding. The brochure says 14% off road. This might be true in distance (although I doubt it) but certainly not in time. Slow, grinding, tedious dirt trails are not my thing. The start hotel was a poor choice for a cyclist being several ...read more kilometres out of town.

Day 1 from Moncao to Camenah on a paved rail trail was really good. Hotel Porta do Sol in Caminah was very good. Day 2 first half was great along the Atlantic coast down to Viana do Castelo. The second half to Ponte de Lima was not enjoyable on disused goat tracks. The hotel in Ponte de Lima (2 nights) was really good. The town of Ponte de Lima was a highlight. Day 3 loop ride to Arcos de Valdevez was both pretty and tedious on the goat trails. I abandoned the route guide on the return trip and simply rode on the paved roads. This way I could actually look around at the scenery while I rode instead of staring at the track to avoid rocks, roots, puddles and other obstacles. Day 4 to Barcelos was an utter drudgery; no more need be said. Hotel (Art ‘Otel) in Barcelos was barely adequate. This was, by far, the worst day of the trip. Day 5 to Vila do Conde was a good day on quite roads and paved rail trail. Vila C Hotel was probably the best hotel of the trip. Day 6 to Foz (Porto) was a very nice relaxing ride along the shore. The Hotel Boa Vista was good but nothing special.

The trip says it ends in Porto, which is technically true, but the actual end was in Foz which is a seaside suburb of Porto. The centre of Porto is some distance upstream. In summary, Day 1, 5, 6 and half of day 2 were good. Day 3, 4 and half of day 2 were not good. Most of the hotels were good. Some were not good. The bike I rented was good. The tool kit was incomplete (as I found when I had a flat). The GPS route mapping was excellent: Accurate and complete. All in all, not value for money and I would not use this company again. There were some good aspects but the negatives combined with the cost outweigh the good.
Interesting & varied program, well thought out & implemented.   2 , NSW, Australia, Feb 2022
"Walking the Amalfi Coast" is Exodus' most popular tour and it's easy to see why. The walking program is well-thought out and our leader was able to vary the itinerary in response to the forecast weather and the delayed arrival of the rest of the group from London. It was a disappointing start to my trip, with a mix-up around my transfer from Naples ...read more Airport. The rest of the group was meant to be flying in from London, however due to flight cancellations by British Airways their arrival was delayed by 24 hours. Neither Exodus nor the local leader were aware that I would be arriving independently at Naples Airport, so there was no-one at the airport to meet me. I tried to phone the Exodus emergency number which went unanswered (due to the British Airways crisis) and ended up phoning the hotel directly, who arranged for me to be transferred to Bomerano.
So good, I stayed an addiitonal week!!   1 , NSW, Australia, Feb 2022
Brilliant week with Exodus, cross-country skiing in Dobbiaco. The tour leaders, Michele and Alex, really make the difference. The Hotel Tschurtschenthaler is family owned & operated, and provided the perfect base for the skiing program - comfortable airy rooms, great breakfasts & dinners, and a magnificent Wellness Spa after a big day skiing.
The ...read more skiing program itself was well organised, with full instruction & guiding provided by our leaders. Michele went above and beyond in his care of us, arranging for activities and dinner on our "free" day and ensuring that everyone was happy and safe. The program was so good that i changed my itinerary and stayed an additional week!
Booking my holiday through Georgie at Global Journeys was easy and efficient. I was kept informed along the way.
Not your typical Tuscany tour     0 , QLD, Australia, Sep 2019
If you enjoy hiking into the mountains and are reasonably fit with a head for heights then you'll love this tour. The farm stay accommodation was excellent. The home-cooking was a gastronomic delight accompanied each night by locally produced red wine. Generous and varied buffet breakfasts were a great way to fuel up for the day's hiking. We made up ...read more our own lunches from the previous night's dinner leftovers. The Garfagnana Valley where our farm stay was located, is away from the tourist trail. The local towns are authentic and unspoiled by commercialism.

Being a centre-based tour required some driving to reach each days hike. The local mountain roads are narrow, winding and steep in places so you'll need to be OK with the swaying motion of the minibus. The trails are generally well formed, easy to follow and not too steep. We've hiked to much higher altitudes on other trips but the views on this trip were still stunning and unforgettable. Complimentary transfers from and to Pisa airport were a bonus for Australian travellers. The 12 travellers comprising our group were a mix of Australians, English and Scottish aged 34 to 72, average age about 60. They were a friendly bunch, just big enough to get to know a few over a week of hiking.

Our English guide resides at the farm for the hiking season and is part of the "family". Sara is the absolute best guide you could hope to have. She is caring, super organised, bilingual, very fit and has a deep knowledge of local trails, weather, flora, fauna and geology. We highly recommend the Exodus Walking in Tuscany trip. It's excellent value in a great location with a great guide, great accommodation and great food.
