Due to the fact that Wendy Wu is also based in Britain, we had a great mix of British, Australian and a New Zealander totalling 20 people and it was a great bunch to travel with and we have made many new friends.
Just a few tips before travelling to China, do a little bit of homework on sim cards or e-sims and try to get ones with a built in VPN before you arrrive in China. Also cash is not used very often in China and overseas credit cards are generally not accepted. We downloaded Alipay in Australia and used this app for most transactions. You do need a reliable internet connection for Alipay to work properly.
A huge thankyou to Rachael from Global Journeys who once again looked after our booking and organised all the extras that we asked for. She is always available for a chat and answers emails promptly. China indeed was a great surprise and the people are lovely and friendly (but be prepared for big crowds). We highly recommend travelling with Wendy Wu and booking through Global Journeys.

FAQ's
Can special requests be arranged?
Wendy Wu will do their best to accommodate your special request. Please advise us of any medical requirements, special meal requests or dietary requirements, special needs, or medical conditions we should be aware of at time of booking.
When will I receive my tour documentation?
2-3 weeks before you travel you will receive your final documentation, including a detailed day-by-day itinerary, hotel list, flight tickets (if applicable), visas and passports (if applicable) and pre-departure travel guide.
Are there any health precautions or vaccinations that I need?
Wendy Wu recommend you see your doctor at least six weeks prior to travel for advice and to allow time for any necessary vaccinations. Please remember to take your itinerary with you.
What are the luggage restrictions on tour?
All travellers are limited to two items of luggage each; a suitcase with a maximum weight of 20kg and one piece of hand luggage with a maximum weight of 5kgs. Tours in India are restricted to 15kg of checked in luggage and 5kg of hand luggage due to internal flight restrictions. Your final documentation will outline more detail as well as any specific airline restrictions.
How far in advance are flights available to book?
Airlines release their flight schedules approximately 10-11 months prior to the flight date. If you book a tour with a departure date outside of this range, your place on the group tour will be confirmed immediately and once available to Wendy Wu, your flights will be held and a copy of the flight itinerary will be sent to you.
Do you allow children on your tours?
Wendy Wu allow children 12 years and over on their group tours.
Will I have a guide?
Every group tour that has 10 or more passengers travelling will be accompanied by a National Escort from the moment you exit the airport, to when you depart. On multi-country tours, a different National Escort is used in each country. Extensions and stopovers are not accompanied by a National Escort; however you will have the benefit of our knowledgeable Local Guides. Transfers and flights to and from optional extension destinations are not escorted.
Does Wendy Wu run guarantee departures?
All tours are guaranteed at the listed price operating with a National Escort, providing a minimum of 10 travellers are booked to travel on that departure.
Who will be in my group?
Your group will be made up of travellers from diverse backgrounds and will be varied in age. Wendy Wu's groups generally mix well due to a shared interest in travel and eagerness to explore all that the destinations Wendy Wu have to offer.
How fit do I need to be?
Wendy Wu want you to have the best tour experience possible, so you should be in reasonably good health and be able to participate in all activities unaided. Some of their itineraries include difficult conditions which can make physical activities challenging. Each group tour is graded (and shown on the itinerary page) to reflect the level of fitness required to assist you in making the best choice.
At a minimum a reasonable level of fitness is required on all tours. You'll be getting on and off coaches and boats, walking around the sights and climbing some steps. On many Go Beyond Tours you'll need to be fit and adventurous to participate as on some days you will be active for most of the day. The terrain may be more challenging and the activities more physically demanding.
I am a solo traveller – do I have to pay a single supplement?
Wendy Wu Tours have reserved selected departures on some of their most popular Classic Tours exclusively for customers who prefer to share their wonderful holiday experiences with a readymade group of like-minded solo travellers. These departures are labeled 'Solo Departure' on each itinerary page.

If the trip you wish to join does not have any dedicated solo departures, you can guarantee a single room on any trip by paying the Single Supplement. Global Journeys do not offer the Single Share option for Wendy Wu.
Will I be travelling with passengers from other countries?
Wendy Wu's passengers generally enjoy the mixture of Australian (mostly), New Zealand and British clients on tour. Occasionally we are joined by English speaking passengers from other countries including the US and Canada. All of our tours are lead by English speaking National Escorts and/or Local Guides.
What is the dress code on a Wendy Wu tour?
The dress code while on tour is very relaxed; however please note that clothing covering the arms and legs may be more appropriate when visiting religious buildings. Wendy Wu suggest smart casual attire for the evenings. A packing list will be provided in your final documentation.
Are there ever closures to attractions/sites outlined in tours?
Attractions may be closed at any given time, often without reasonable notice. Such closures may impact the ability to visit such attractions during your tour. Wendy Wu will do their utmost to provide advance notice in these circumstances, however such closures are out of their control. Alternative touring will be arranged should this occur.
Are meals included?
On Classic Group Tours, all meals (excluding beverages) are included unless specifically stated otherwise. Discovering new cuisine is a highlight of travel to Asia and your Local Guide will give you tips on local specialties to try. You will sample a range of local cuisine with occasional western meals, and meals are usually taken at local restaurants. In remote areas, some meals may be basic or repetitive.
On Go Beyond tours some meals are included however Wendy Wu have also included several free evenings, offering flexibility for those who wish to explore local restaurants. Please check your day-by-day tour itinerary for details of which meals are included.
What flights are included?
With Wendy Wu's flight inclusive option, they will do the planning for you and meet you on arrival. They include airport pickup upon arrival at your destination and drop off at the end of your tour (on the scheduled tour arrival and departure days) and when booking pre or post tour accommodation with Wendy Wu and Global Journeys.
We partner with established and reputable airlines for your international flights and we can assist with upgrading your seat to premium or business class for an additional cost. Our team will work with you to choose your ideal routing and if we make changes to your tour itinerary that impact flights, we’ll rebook them for you.
Does Wendy Wu offer Seniors Card holders any savings?
Wendy Wu offer Australian Seniors Card holders from NSW, QLD, VIC and WA a $100pp discount off their trips. Let us know when you are enquiring and we can add the discount to your quote. You will be asked for your Seniors Card number.
Valid on Classic, Go Beyond and Dedicated Solo departure group tours. Note: This saving is not valid in conjunction with any other Wendy Wu offer shown, except their loyalty discount.

Are tips or gratuities included?
The short answer is no. However it does depend on the trip you choose and the destination you're exploring. Tipping while on holiday is common in most parts of the world, however, it is not always clear who it is appropriate to tip and how much.
Furthermore, travellers may not have the right amounts of cash available at the right time. In order to avoid any inconvenience Wendy Wu operates a tipping policy where a stated amount is given to your National Escort at the beginning of your tour and tips are disbursed amongst your main service providers (for example local guides and drivers) throughout your tour.
The amount is designed to be at a reasonable level for travellers while being fair to the local people and includes a gratuity for the National Escort. Any other tipping, such as tips for bathroom attendants or hotel porters that are taking luggage to your room, is at your discretion based on satisfaction of services received, as are gratuities for additional requested special services.
Wendy Wu generally find that most customers appreciate the convenience of our tipping policy, but they do recognize that it may not suit everyone. However, as this is a group tour, Wendy Wu ask that everyone follows the same protocol to be fair to other group members and to ensure the smooth operation of your tour.
