Magnificent tour   1 , Australia, May 2012
Well organized, great tour director, would definitely travel with him again. His knowledge patience & great sense of humour were incredible. The coach driver was amazing his knowledge of roads & streets was incredible. Magnificent would & have recommend Global Journeys to our friends. Hope to do a European adventure in the not to distant future.
What a pleasant surprise!   4 , Australia, May 2012
To be perfectly honest I was not looking forward to doing an organised tour but realised if I was to see Ireland this was the only way for me. What a pleasant surprise I was to have! Right from the start with the welcome from the most amazing tour guide, Liz McKenna, was so warm and then that of meeting my fellow travellers who were all Americans. As ...read more I was alone and the only Aussie their friendship was warm and wonderful, always making sure I was not sitting or walking alone, unless I wanted to. And let's not forget George, who has to be the best coach driver in Ireland! The way he handled that huge coach down those narrow lanes etc was amazing and one felt so safe with him at the wheel. I left Ireland with a heavy heart, new email friends and full of happiness and with renewed knowledge of the history. My biggest thank you goes to Liz for her friendship, her incredible knowledge of her country and great Irish sense of fun. She was an absolute gem who played an enormous part in trips success for all of us.
Italy was such a beautiful country to visit   3 , Australia, May 2012
Italy was such a beautiful country to visit. The Italian Mosaic tour, however was a very mediocre experience. The hotels were generally good with the exception of the Venetian accommodation which though quoted as 4* would only be 1-2* here in Australia. I found the tour guide, though helpful, patronising at times. Sometimes it felt as she was reading ...read more from a script. No real extra information. Too many Optionals in my opinion. I thought many should have been included as standards. I highly recommend all the Tuscan optionals. Visit to Capri never happened due to industrial stoppage at Capri port. No alternatives offered. This tour was too quick and not enough time to immerse youself in the great culture. Got sick of eating lunch at auto grills. My recommendation would be to break up Italy into smaller 'guided tours' at a slightly slower pace so that you can fully appreciate what Italy really has to offer. By the way, the gelato was to die for - go pistachio or malaga.
Would not hesitate to use Globus again   0 , Australia, May 2012
This tour was very well laid out for the time allotted, I also must give credit to the Tour Director Gert & Bus Driver Marco for their professional yet personal approach to everyone on the tour. Would not hesitate to use Globus again.
Only complaint is that there were only 3-5 Australians on tour   0 , Australia, May 2012
A very good tour of Normandy, Brittany and the Loire Valley. France and especially Paris were amazing. The people were very helpful especially at the Hotel Concorde Montparnasse. So much history, the museums, the architecture, the culture and gastronomy were to die for. Key highlights included Mont St. Michel, Amboise, Chateau Chambord and Chenonceau. ...read more Angers has some great artisan shops selling jewellery and tapestries. The WW2 Normandy beaches, especially Omaha Beach were quite moving. My only complaint was that there were only 3-5 Australians on the tour. All the rest were Americans with big opinions.
Recommend this trip to anyone wanting an intro to Europe   2 , Australia, Apr 2012
Comfortable and roomy coach with very friendly fellow travellers and a great tour director and very friendly and capable driver. Hotels were very nice, though I liked the Royal Hotel in Lucerne the best with a view of the Alps from the window. Being part of a group tour saved endless time at the entry to various attractions across Europe. All meals included in the tour or on the optional excursions were of a high standard. Trip was very fast paced but very enjoyable. I would recommend this trip to anyone wanting an introduction to Europe, and intend to book my next trip with Globus tours.
Simply awesome   2 , Australia, Apr 2012
The Essential Britain tour with Globus was simply awesome. The Tour Director Ian Walker and Tom the Driver did a magnificent job. Ian was full of knowledge and provided us with information on both major and trivial points of interest. Meals were very good and the hotels fantastic with the exception of one. Complimentary WiFi would have been good. Overall very happy with the tour   0 , Australia, Apr 2012
Overall very happy with the tour although we would have liked more time in some places and felt some of the destinations were added just for the sake of stretching it out. The costs for additional touring and dinners were, in some cases, excessive and some of these should have been included in the base tour cost. A couple of the dinners were a waste ...read more of time and money, however shows like the Fado (in Portugal) and Flaminco (in Spain) were excellent and good value.
Very happy with our tour and the service by the staff   4 , Australia, Apr 2012
Thoroughly enjoyed the tour however, it was rushed and there are many places we would have liked to spend more time. But realise that to see all of Great Britain in 10 days is a big ask for any tour operator. Thanks for your assistance in organising the tour, we had a great time and will certainly recommend Global Journeys & Globus to other travellers.
It was extensive and active, a wonderful trip   1 , Australia, Apr 2012
Thoroughly enjoyed the tour. It was extensive and active. We saw most of the highlights of the UK in 11 days. Accommodation was very comfortable, well appointed and conveniently located. We enjoyed the featured events and took the extended tours. All in all it was a wonderful trip.
Our first tour to Europe and we loved it   2 , Australia, Apr 2012
Globus was so organised and our tour guide brought the tour to life for us with his knowledge of the countries we passed through, the history and culture, all with a touch of humour. It was a fantastic trip   0 , Australia, Mar 2012
The tour was very fast-paced as it covered a lot of ground in the six days, but that was expected. Both the driver (Mark) and tour guide (Paul) were great. Paul was a fountain of information and nothing was ever too much trouble. Mark's driving was great - able to take alternate routes when necessary. I would have loved to spend more time at some of the places we visited, but understood the time constraints. It was unfortunate that the tour that would've given me the time I wanted simply was available on the dates I could travel. But all in all - it was a fantastic trip.
Experience with Global Journeys was second to none   1 , Australia, Feb 2012
Georgie responded to our internet enquiry within 24 hours and came up with some great ideas for our itinerary. The tour was fast paced, but this is what we expected. It is a lot to do in 6 days. Our driver and guide were exceptional and I can't wait to get back to London to do a longer tour. Our experience with Global Journeys was second to none. Very good tour, especially for a first time visitor to Spain   2 , Australia, Jan 2012
A very good tour, especially for a first time visitor to Spain. You get to see all the most stunning attractions, completely hassle-free. This trip is highly recommended!   3 , Australia, Jan 2012
We had a great trip and the weather was perfect. Of course much of the success of the trip is due to the tour company Globus and we were extremely happy with every aspect of the tour. One of the best travel tours I have ever taken   3 , Australia, Oct 2011
This tour was one of the best travel tours I have ever taken. It was a great adventure. Hotels, the tour director, optional tours were all excellent. Very well organised and informative   0 , Australia, Sep 2011
We found the tour to be very well organised and very informative. The bus driver and the tour manager were both very helpful and the whole tour ran like clockwork. The additional tour guides who were used at specific destinations also really knew their stuff so we did not miss out on anything of significance in any of the places we visited. Tour Guide was a Walking Encyclopedia   5 , Australia, Sep 2011
We undertook two tours, this review relates to our Globus tour of the UK which was excellent, and the help I received from Yvonne at Global Journeys was superb. On this tour we were extremely fortunate to have Jim Lemmon as our Tour Guide. He was well organised, very helpful and pleasant at all times, and he was a 'Walking Encyclopedia'. He managed ...read more to link all the regions, towns and buildings etc to their interwoven history in a most enjoyable way. His little 'asides' and bits of history and knowledge were most entertaining. Tony the Irish bus driver was also extremely confident and competent in his driving, and was amazing to watch as he easily negotiated the narow difficult roads and parking spots. The two had obviously worked together often and had a friendly and entertaining repartee for us about the locations etc. They were both most enjoyable. The small detours/alternate routes were most worthwhile as was Jims selection of entertainment and places to visit at the various stops.

The group was large - possibly too large at 44 for a top quality tour, so that it was difficult to get to know everyone, and to easily move around. The first coach we had was quite good, but when it went in for servicing in Ireland, the replacement had quite a noisy engine etc. which made sitting near the rear a bit 'tiring', and the next coach we got had many seats that would not recline which was annoying. We saw a huge amount of fantastic places in the 17 days, but it was extremely 'busy' (as I expected), so that the duration of 17 days was definitely a maximum to do before exhaustion set in. It was more enjoyable when we had two nights in the one spot, so that packing up was reduced (and the washing could be completed). There were a few days where we had to travel long distances, but these needed a stop at something of interest to break up the journeys rather than the uninspiring truckstops. The first of these was between York and Hadrians Wall, the second was from Pembrooke to Newport (a very boring day following the very long ferry ride), the third was from Plymouth to Stonehenge, and the fourth was from Salisbury to London.

We were lucky with the weather, and all the spots we toured/visited were very interesting and great value, and should not be missed. Perhaps the only let-down was the entertainment in Edinbrough, and the hotel there. Otherwise the accomodation and included meals were generally top value - except for the Glascow hotel where the buffet kept running out of food courses. There were so many excellent highlights of this tour it is difficult to list them all, suffice to say that none should be missed. Overall, these minor negatives were overcome by the excellent service and amazing and historic places we were guided through with some fantastic detailed commentary. The detailed tour information, patient guidance and help from Yvonne Brooks from Global Journeys was fantastic, and she made our first time overseas trip a hassle-free experience. (GJ: Review split over the two tours taken.)
I hope Globus keeps this one!   4 , Australia, Sep 2011
Extremely well organised tour. It was our first coach tour with many other people, so we were a little apprehensive at first. But it all worked very well, thanks mainly to the work of the tour director, Megan. She made the travel, accommodation, meal organisation, stops along the way all go very smoothly. This tour, around the Scottish Highlands & Islands, ...read more is a winner! Magnificent scenery everywhere, interesting visits to castles, abbeys, palaces, ruins & towns/cities. The mix of people was ok - Americans, Canadians and a few of us Aussies all got on well, all 44 of us! Our driver - Danny - was thoroughly professional in his demeanour, and skilled in his driving. The way in which he manoeuvred the large coach around numerous narrow roads in the north of Scotland was extraordinary. And he didn't get us lost once! The coach was always clean and we felt safe in his care. Megan was calm, caring, informative and entertaining throughout. When sickness began striking people down over a few days, she did what she could to alleviate concerns, keep everybody positive and show concern for the sickies. Apparently no other companies do such a tour - I hope Globus keeps this one! We all saw places that we wouldn't have seen on our own, and there was plenty of opportunity to admire the spectacular scenery. All accommodation was excellent - we seemed mostly to have large rooms, often with good views. Meals that were included as part of the tour, were generally very good, with enough choices for everyone. I'm sure we will look at doing another Globus tour soon. We would certainly recommend this tour, without hesitation.
Absolutely amazing tour   3 , Australia, Sep 2011
Wow! Absolutely amazing tour of South West England and Wales. We were fully informed at every step of the way onto our tour. Our tour guide Ann Marie was immaculate in her presentation and her delivery of the patter and tour information. It was like being on a cruiseliner, not that I have ever been (but would love to). Her knowledge, personal attention ...read more to detail and the level of assistance she imparted to us was par excellence. Our driver Laurie was superb and well acquitted for the role. He drove with safety and finesse on the open (wriggly English) roads and inside each town and village.

Nothing was left to chance and we felt part of a happy family right at the outset. We met some wonderful friends early in the tour. The Brits know how to run a fully catered tour, and this company and the immaculate planning schedule they provided us was beyond any other tour we have been on. We learnt a great deal about British history, the royal hatches, matches and dispatches, the general countryside and the purpose behind many of our English terms of reference. We would like to thank Globus for the tremendous effort they have put in to make this one of the best ever trips we have ever had. We would highly recommend a Globus organised tour to any of our friends and family.

The add on London excursion to the live performance of Wicked was a bit of a letdown and we were quite disappointed at the end of a superb four day tour. Our London coach departed our meeting point twenty minutes later than the stated time. Then we were informed the restaurant opened half hour later on Saturday, which meant we had to rush through and eat our three course meal hurriedly and did not receive our complimentary coffee. The stall seating in the theatre was average and not as we were lead to believe. Overall a very uneventful and sadly lacking part of our whole experience in London, and more so that it was at the end of a highly successful and enjoyable tour of South West England.
