Today you are free to explore the picturesque town of Bled and its surrounding areas at your leisure. You might like to take a boat ride to the centre of Lake Bled, where the iconic island awaits. Or perhaps visit the thousand-year-old Bled Castle to learn about its collections of weaponry and jewellery. (B)

Leave Bled behind today for a day trip to Slovenia's thriving capital, Ljubljana. After a short drive, a walking tour reveals the varying Art Nouveau and Baroque buildings in the Old Town, as well as some more modern buildings. After exploring the city, you'll head to the Postojna Caves. This incredible karst cave system dates back some two million years and is made up of a series of caverns, halls and passages. Enter the massive cavern system on a small electric railway, before walking into the heart of the underground labyrinth. Afterwards, return to Bled for dinner. (B/D)

Following a morning at leisure, bid farewell to Slovenia and depart for Croatia. Travelling by train, you'll pass by the last of the picturesque Slovenian scenery before reaching the border and arriving in the vibrant city of Zagreb. The city's Old Centre has been divided into two towns, both of which are filled with delightful cobbled streets, museums, and quaint parks. The Upper Town is marked by pointy church spires, while the Lower Town is known for its array of architecture from different periods and influences. Stay Two Nights: Zagreb, Hotel Dubrovnik or similar (B/D)

This morning has been set aside for a walking tour of Zagreb. While wandering around this incredible city, you'll visit sites including St Mark's Church, famous for its 14th-century Gothic architecture, and the Kaptol - a sprawling urban complex of museums, churches and galleries. Afterwards, you'll have the remainder of the afternoon to continue sightseeing at leisure. (B)

After a morning at leisure, depart Zagreb and journey to your hotel near Plitvice Lakes National Park. After time to settle in to your hotel, enjoy a guided walking tour of a local village and learn about its fascinating history. Later, enjoy two Insider Experiences followed by dinner where you'll taste the meat cooked using the 'Under the Bell' technique. Stay: Lyra Hotel Plitvice (B/D)

Insider Experience: After your walking tour, visit the Serbian Community Centre and be greeted by a traditional Balkan welcome with bread and salt. Hear stories from the villagers and see a range of Serbian handicrafts.

Head out for the day to Plitvice Lakes National Park. Covering over 160 square kilometres, the World Heritage-listed national park has 16 lakes which are connected by stunning terraced waterfalls. After exploring the national wonder and its many lakes, enjoy lunch in a local restaurant before continuing to Split by train. A light dinner will be provided on board, as you pass stunning mountains, lakes and vineyards on your way to Split. Stay Two Nights: Split, Raddison Blu (B/L/D)

A captivating blend of old meets new, Split is famed for its magnificent fortresses, palaces and beaches. Today you'll take to the water for a scenic boat cruise to Brac. Take in the city from a new perspective before spending the rest of the afternoon exploring at your leisure. Perhaps head into town and visit the remains of the World Heritage-listed Diocletian's Palace. (B)

Leave Split behind this morning and set your sights on Dubrovnik. En route, you'll stop by the coastal town of Makarska. This picturesque town and port is home to a characteristic Mediterranean Old Town with narrow stone-paved streets, a bustling church square and a Franciscan monastery. Follow the winding paths leading to pebble beaches, or continue exploring the older section of the city. Later on, arrive in Dubrovnik for an evening at leisure. Stay Three Nights: Dubrovnik, Hotel Lapad (B)

Today will be spent discovering Dubrovnik, the 'Pearl of the Adriatic'.
